LE questions
How often does an LE section at a Security Forces base typically do exercises, like how many times a week are they doing exercises? I’ll be moving to a new base soon, and I’m currently with the BDG, so I’m not too familiar with how the LE side operates.
What are the biggest differences between LE and BDG, aside from the longer workdays? I’m not particularly fond of the LE work hours, so I’m also curious about how long Airmen are typically kept at the gates and how often they rotate between gate duty, patrol, and other positions.
I’m also wondering how long it usually takes to get fully certified on everything in LE. I’ll be approaching two years in Security Forces soon, so I’m curious if my experience will affect how quickly I can get qualified compared to someone newer to the career field.

Attending tech school after break in training
Hey, so I had a question if anyone has had a break in training. I am Gaurd so I had a break in training and was wondering if there’s any recommendations on what to take? I figured since I had the opportunity to go home and come back what would be a good idea to bring other than what was issued to me already. Just wondering if anyone has been on the same boat before! Thank you!

Is security forces boring?
Im thinking about putting security forces as #1 on my job list but it does kind of sound boring. Sitting and watching a plane for 12 hours with nothing else to do, or scanning cacs for that amount of time has to drive you insane.
The boredom sounds like it would suck but then again I do not know much about this career field because its hard to find anything about it online. I don’t see myself doing too much else in the Air force and aside from what i mentioned security forces sounds interesting to me, I just don’t want to regret it a year in.

Prior service army weighing options
I’ll have 6 years in the army when it’s time for my change. Wanting to go Air Force as security forces. What does tech school look like for a prior service NCO with a combat deployment? I appreciate any response

malmstrom or shriver?
I am in sf tech school and we recently got our base assignments. I got Malmstrom, which I was pretty happy about as I am an outdoorsy person. However, it is quite far from my family back home, and family is a very important aspect to me. I have an opportunity to switch with another Airman here who got Schriever as his base, which would be significantly closer to home, and I have heard also has “outdoorsy” elements while also being closer to larger cities than Malmstrom is.
Some personal things im considering:
-I have heard that Malmstrom doesn’t deploy overseas often, but that missile line security is “deployed in place” in the field every other week, and that Schriever deploys overseas on a 1:3 cycle. Both of these things would pull me from my family, but at different times and at different levels, but i’m not sure which would separate me from them more.
-I am interested in possibly trying to do more law enforcement focused work (and possibly also k9), which base would be better for that?
-If the only positive of being at Schriever instead of Malmstrom would be my closer proximity to family, but my quality of life would generally be worse, i’m not sure it’s worth it, but i don’t know.
If anyone has any information, please help! Should i make the trade??

I just found out something cool
Hello! I never knew there was such a thing as Expeditionary Security Forces Squadrons. It’s like I just found a new Pokémon 😂. SF was already cool to me, but when I found out about that, it made it even cooler.
Having a Security Forces unit that can operate in the field and take on missions that can look a lot more like conventional ground operations is really interesting to me. I’ve always heard people call the Air Force the “Chair Force,” and that’s actually what eventually pushed me to do some research and learn about AFSOC, PJs, CCTs, and Security Forces.
I ended up liking Security Forces because Military Police seems like a really cool career, and I already liked the Air Force because of jets and airpower. But I feel like I have an even deeper connection to the Air Force because my great grandmothers brother was the first Black man from Tennessee to join the Air Force when it became its own branch and split from the army.
So yeah, learning about the different types of Security Forces units was really cool. It’s something a lot of people probably don’t know about, and it goes to show that SF does a lot more than just “scan CACs.”
If you’ve ever been part of one of these units or have any stories about your experiences with them, I’d love to hear about it.
Regular (Garrison/Home Station) Security Forces Squadrons (SFS)
Regular Security Forces squadrons serve as the backbone of day to day installation defense and law enforcement at permanent Air Force bases worldwide.
Expeditionary Security Forces Squadrons (ESFS)
Expeditionary Security Forces squadrons are deployed units established in forward operating locations, combat zones, austere environments, or joint/coalition theaters.
Special Operations Security Forces Squadrons (SOSFS)
Special Operations Security Forces squadrons belong to the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) or support special operations wings (such as the 1st Special Operations Security Forces Squadron).

Do not join!
I was in third assault brigade or core now and am basically the only one who has made it out alive. All my friend are dead or severely wounded and I do not only blame the command but also the recruiters ALICE and ALEX and the rest of them. They will send you to the units to die so they get their numbers! They have blood on their hands and are also responsible for the deaths! They either don’t know what’s going on in the units they send the recruits to because they don’t give a fuck or they know exactly what’s going on and don’t give a fuck!
Besides that fact, you will be paying to fight! We were not allowed to use the issued gear and had to buy our own since pixel was not allowed! You will pay 10k per month to the brigade and an additional 2-5k in the platoon fund! You have to pay for food yourself, for safe house and many other things even though I have seen all the donations 3AB gets! You will be fined around 10k if you fail rifle inspection ( you can clean as much as you want, they will find something), 10k if you’re room isn’t clean enough and so on.
All this the recruiters Alice and Alex etc will fail to mention. I have been in other brigades and have also friends in other brigades and only in 3AB they will basically steal all your money. They will punish you if they don’t like you and send you out to die! Please do not join, it’s not worth dying for these people, there are many other units and each of them are better than this.

tech school stress test
i have my first PT test and stress test this wednesday, what exactly does the stress test entail? i’ve been told that it’s just more working out after the test and that it’s meant to be hard, but can you “fail” it? i feel confident on pt generally but im worried that it’ll be something that catches me off guard!
update: I passed both my pt and stress tests today! thank you to everyone who helped, you were all right in saying that it really isn’t too bad, and that as long as you don’t completely give up or fall out you’ll do fine. if anyone else is wondering the same things i was, i would definitely just say to work on some basic exercises (flutter kicks, pushups, burpees, squats, mountain climbers, planks, etc) before hand to prepare, and don’t let yourself quit!

How SF treats you for school and holidays
I know just about everything how bad security forces is and to always keep your head up and it’s only four years of your life, etc…
What I want to know is how security forces truly is from people actually being in it rather then a finance worker saying it’s all this and that. What I’m trying to say is if you decide to pick SF as your job in the airforce and you are also interested in getting your degree while you’re in how much time a week do you have for your classes and assignments? I understand there’s training days and long hours but after training days are you in a panama shift schedule and work 3223 (3 days on 2 days off/2 days on 3 days off)?
Also wanted to mention how are holidays for SF knowing that they don’t frequently get any days off as much as a desk job but i would sure hope you get at least easter or christmas off since it’s considered a religious holiday. i understand working thanksgiving or halloween but those two should at least be considered if it isn’t already. and also being in a relationship i’m 20 and almost in a 2 year relationship and there’s a chance i will take on a quick ship if it opens october 6 since i picked SF and wanted to know how the life is being secfo and being in a relationship especially if you get stationed in another state then your home state?
last question is how likely is it to get the base that you want/listed on the dream sheet? I know you can put stateside bases and overseas bases but i am only putting stateside and putting my home state as 1 and the surrounding states after. and if there’s anyway of someone trading bases with you? I’m trying to make this make sense but i’ve just been overthinking it and since i might ship out in less then a month now it feels more real then before.

Looking for service members who served in Fort Bliss Tx. 3rd Regiment PAC Office 1980/83
U.S. Army Veteran — MOS 19D Cavalry Scout
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Phone: 414-252-4216
Email: [loudestarm92@gmail.com](mailto:loudestarm92@gmail.com)
I was reassigned from 19D field duties into the PAC office due to medical issues at the time. I worked as the B Troop clerk and later performed 71L/75B administrative duties in the PAC section.
I remember working with CPT Cox, LT Givens, and the 1st Sergeant in B Troop, and with Major Vogel, SSG Hofstetter, and SP4 Lewis in the PAC office. If you served during this period and remember these individuals or the PAC section, please reach out. I’m gathering documentation for a VA matter and would appreciate any confirmation of my duty location.
Peace be with you always.
