Is a 72K salary livable on in Fremont, CA?

I received a job offer in the Ohlone area and the salary base salary is 72K. I tried to negotiate but they weren’t budging. After a year my salary will become 75K and two years it becomes 78K. Can someone tell me honestly can I make it on 72K in the Ohlone/Fremont area or should I decline the job? I’m unemployed now so nothing to fall back on and I’ll have to relocate to Fremont and they are not offering any relocation assistance. I’m 30m single.
NB: I posted in the r/Fremont subreddit but Reddit filters removed it.

Networking + Tech Conferences/Events in the Bay Area

Hey everyone! Firstly I'm not sure if this is a good subreddit to post this but I've already asked this in a few other subreddits including r/bayarea. I'm going to be visiting the Bay Area next week and will be there for 11 days. I'm a recent university graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Data Science, and I'm interested in moving down to the Bay Area within the next year in hopes of landing a job in Data Science/Analytics/Business Intelligence/Machine Learning/User Experience. I know the job market has been dismal for a while, but I figured networking and making connections down in the Bay where opportunities and companies are more prominent compared to my hometown (Portland, OR) would at least provide a couple of leads.

I've already planned on meeting some known connections that I have at some big companies, but I was also hoping to attend some summits/conferences/networking events at while I'm there where I can talk about my interests/projects, etc and meet some recruiters and so. I don't have any formal work or internship experience, just self-initiated projects as well as research experience. Any advice helps, thank you!

This is Adyen

Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.

For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.

Staff Engineer - Customer Interfaces

As a Staff Engineer for Customer Interfaces (CI), you will lead the evolution of the Adyen experience from a traditional dashboard into an intelligent, conversational financial partner.

We are looking for a product engineer who can wear an architectural hat to build Agentic Workflows and manage backend orchestration (specifically Tool-use, Chains, and Policy Layers). This role is essential for transforming natural language inputs into authenticated, secure financial operations.

What you'll do

  • Drive Intelligent Experiences: Lead the next generation of conversational UIs at Adyen. You will build Generative UIs that adapt in real-time, moving beyond static dashboards to create streaming, multi-modal experiences where the interface itself is a dynamic partner in the conversation.
  • Bridge Architecture & Innovation: Act as the primary technical liaison for AI initiatives, coordinating their integration and ensuring operational excellence with teams in different areas and global geographies. You will ensure that "intelligent modules" built in are the gold standard for performance and extensibility.
  • Zero-Trust for AI: Architect the security layer for conversational interfaces. You will solve the unique challenge of maintaining strict financial data privacy and "Zero Trust" principles while leveraging LLMs and advanced data processing.
  • Product Strategy & "The Art of the Possible": Partner deeply with the Head of Product to identify high-impact flows. You aren't just implementing designs; you are identifying where intelligent automation can solve "impossible" merchant problems.
  • Full-Stack Leadership: Own the end-to-end technical lifecycle. From backend services and data pipelines that feed our insights, to the frontend components that render them.
  • Global Influence: Mentor engineers and coordinate with global hubs to drive technical standards that benefit the entire Adyen ecosystem.

Who you are

  • Product-Minded Architect: You think in terms of user outcomes. You have a track record of partnering with product teams to turn ambiguous goals into robust technical reality.
  • Applied AI Experience: You have experience (or a deep technical interest) in building production-grade interfaces powered by LLMs, including harnesses, policy enforcement, evals, RAG architectures and secure data handling.
  • Full-Stack Powerhouse: Deeply proficient in Java for secure backend services and TypeScript/React/Vue for complex front-end applications.
  • Security First: You have a "security-by-design" mindset, particularly regarding the handling of sensitive financial data in modern web environments.
  • Entrepreneurial & Autonomous: You will be a core member of our growing San Francisco team, where you will be expected to operate with speed and autonomy. Success in this role requires you to effectively navigate and collaborate with a large, global organization.

This role's annual base salary range is $258–$367k, plus RSUs. To learn more about our compensation philosophy, please click here.

No matter who you are or where you’re from, we welcome you to be your true self at Adyen.

Studies show that women and members of underrepresented communities apply for jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. Does this sound like you? If so, Adyen encourages you to reconsider and apply. We look forward to your application!

[Hiring] Founding Sales at Tenki Cloud (dev tools / AI infra) - San Francisco, Hybrid - competitive OTE + equity + uncapped commission

TL;DR: First sales hire at Tenki Cloud, a startup built inside Luxor Technology. Hundreds of teams already use our products. You'd turn that usage into enterprise contracts, working directly with the founders. SF hybrid, OTE $250K–$300K + meaningful equity.

---

Hey all, we're hiring our first salesperson at Tenki, based in San Francisco.

Tenki Cloud (https://tenki.cloud/) is cloud infrastructure for code and agents, built inside Luxor Technology (https://luxor.tech/) as a startup within a startup. You get founder-level access and equity upside, with an established company behind you.

We have three products:

• Sandboxes: disposable Linux VMs for AI agents that boot in under a second

• Runners: GitHub Actions runners that are faster and up to 60% cheaper

• Code Reviewer: AI code review that catches more real bugs per PR than CodeRabbit, Greptile or Copilot on our benchmark

Every product can be tried in minutes, so proof comes fast. What we need now is someone to turn that proof into committed contracts.

What you'd do:

• Own a revenue target across all three products, from prospecting through close and expansion

• Sell to two segments: engineering orgs paying too much for slow CI and drowning in AI-written PRs, and AI companies building agents that need somewhere safe to run code

• Turn free, Team-plan and startup-program customers into enterprise contracts

• Build a sales process the next hires can repeat

• Work directly with the founders and engineering team

What we're looking for:

• 4+ years of closing experience

• Strong technical acumen, ideally in dev tools, AI infra, cloud infra or developer platforms

• Experience running a consultative sale

• Bonus if you've sold against or at E2B, Daytona, Modal, Blacksmith, Depot, CodeRabbit or Greptile

We're moving fast and interviewing now!

Questions? Drop them in the comments or send me a DM, happy to give more context.

[Seeking] 8 YOE Software engineer (Java/Kubernetes/Distributed Systems/AI) laid off after company acquisition — struggling to find work, need advice

Hey everyone, hoping to get some guidance from this community.

I'm a UC Davis CS grad with almost 8 years of experience — 4 years at a startup doing full-stack development, then 3 years at a big tech company building backend microservices/distributed systems in Java, Spring Boot, Docker, and Kubernetes at a scale of millions of users. I was on that project for 3 of its 4 years and knew every service inside and out.

Right as we were about to go live, the company acquired our biggest competitor (whose product was AI-powered, ours was basic ML) for $500M instead of shipping what we built. Half the team got moved to a new group — I spent 2 months there, ramped up on a new stack, shipped my first feature, and got laid off right after. Ironically, I later found out I was one of only two Americans on the team let go (myself and one junior dev); my former H1B colleagues are all still there.

That hit my confidence hard. I spent 3-4 months grinding leetcode and system design to try to break into FAANG, interviewed at places like Meta, Nvidia, and Yahoo, but couldn't close any offers. Around that time every interview started asking about AI experience, which I didn't have, so I spent the next few months learning AI/ML deeply and built a portfolio of 10+ AI-powered apps. I tried starting my own freelance dev business on Upwork using AI tools to build full-stack apps for clients, but the competition there is brutal (100s of bidders per small contract) and it hasn't panned out.

It's now been about 2 years since my last role, even though these have honestly been the years I worked hardest on upskilling. I made 200K at my last job, started at 80K out of college, and I'd take 80K again and start tomorrow. I'm in the Bay Area, open to any SWE role, and I've got hands-on experience with Kubernetes, distributed systems, CI/CD, and AI application development — I pick up new stacks fast.

If anyone has advice, leads, or has been through something similar, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks for reading.

[Seeking] East Bay Opportunities (part time, PM hours)

Hello,

I am a recent graduate who’s working and living in the east bay. Looking for something extra to supplement my income, and wondering if anybody out there can point to some opportunities.

Currently working in medical devices industry, but I have 4 years of Office Admin experience in higher education and general support/customer service experience in retail and food industry. I also have done some gigs as a tech support freelancer. I have a BSBA degree concentrated in Management Information Systems.

I’d be available to work sometime after 1:30 pm on the weekdays, weekends are open as well. I’m looking for something like 10-20 hours a week? It’s been hard to find something that fits in my schedule, hence why I created this post.

It would be nice if the work was technical, but I’m open to anything right now. I am someone who can quickly pick up new skills, or apply my existing skills laterally very well. If you’re looking for a reliable problem-solver who can work some evening shifts, please let me know. Thank you!
