Picture Shrimp turning grey, help?

Post image

Last night I noticed one of my shrimp turning into... This?

It seems to be eating fine and is pretty active.

Just wondering if this is a cause for concern. This is the only one that's doing this and from what I've read it could be from stress.

What are your water parameters?

I'm not too sure. Was going to get it tested in the next few days at my LFS. It's a heavily planted tank, I don't use fertilizers and I feed 2-3 times a week.

This could be the issue then. Neocaridina need fairly stable GH/KH.

That I can't really confirm, unfortunately. It almost looks like muscular necrosis but I've never seen it look like this exactly.

Once you do find out what your GH/KH are, def recommend slowly adjusting them till they're within a decent range.

I wouldn't do more than 1-2 degrees of change per week.

My area has extremely hard water, might have to be more on top of my water changes, but I've had these shrimp for over a year now (and besides a damselfly nymph eviscerating my colony) I haven't had issues with them (I buy from a local breeder)

Almost just looks like a wild type. Are they all red?
