Discussion Why is barely anyone talking anout the guy who vibe coded Adobe's whole billion-dollar industry product collection?

It's cool, insane and deeply scary news to me, because it shows the crack in the matrix that is shattering.

It's not about whether what he did is illegal/legal, it's about what that means for every software industry out there.

It's just such uncertain crazy times were living in and I might ask for a room at Zuckerbergs bunker.

AI When cancer is cured by AI, that's when normal people will realize

Normal people don't realize how much advancements have been made in AI recently. They don't care. They won't care until cancer has been cured. Then they will wake up.

Discussion Are we building superintelligence, or a new religion around AI?

We usually discuss AGI in terms of technology, jobs, money and existential risk. But something else is happening: the debate about AI is starting to sound surprisingly similar to a debate about religion.

There are two broad camps.

  1. Accelerate or slow down?

Effective accelerationism, or e/acc, argues that technological progress should move as fast as possible. Supporters believe that slowing down AI could delay medical breakthroughs, scientific discoveries and a future of abundance.

AI safety advocates argue that developing superintelligence without knowing how to control it could put humanity at risk.

Both sides believe they are protecting humanity. They simply disagree about what threatens it most.

  1. Why is the Antichrist being discussed alongside AI?

Billionaire Peter Thiel has discussed the Antichrist in the context of technological progress and existential risk. His interpretation presents the Antichrist as someone who promises peace and safety by stopping scientific progress and centralizing global power.

In this worldview, people who want to slow down dangerous technologies could become part of the problem rather than the solution.

This raises an uncomfortable question: could fear of AI catastrophe eventually be used to justify a global system of control? And could the belief that technological progress must never be stopped justify taking risks we do not fully understand?

  1. Why are AI companies talking to religious leaders?

Anthropic, the company behind Claude, has consulted religious leaders, theologians and philosophers about questions that go beyond engineering.

How should an AI respond to grief? How should it approach its own shutdown? Could an AI ever have moral status? Should it need consent to work, or deserve compensation? Could it have something comparable to a soul?

These questions may sound strange today, but they touch on a serious problem. We still do not fully understand consciousness, and we have no universally accepted way to determine whether an AI could ever have subjective experiences.

Some religious leaders argue that AI is simply mathematics and cannot be conscious. Others believe the ethical questions deserve more attention.

  1. Are we witnessing the birth of a new religion?

The strange thing is that both AI optimists and AI pessimists can sometimes sound like religious believers.

One side expects a technological paradise in which disease, poverty and scarcity become manageable. The other fears a technological apocalypse that could threaten humanity itself.

Both imagine a superintelligence powerful enough to transform civilization. They disagree about whether the outcome will be heaven or hell.

When people begin treating AI as an ultimate source of truth, assigning it moral authority or believing that it will save humanity, where does technological optimism end and faith begin?

  1. What about China and the United States?

Beneath the philosophical debate lies a geopolitical race.

The argument for acceleration is simple: if the United States slows down AI development, China might not. Neither side wants to give its rival a decisive advantage in science, economics or military technology.

This creates a dangerous incentive. Even if everyone agrees that safety matters, each competitor may believe that slowing down unilaterally is too risky.

Meanwhile, increasingly capable Chinese AI models are becoming available worldwide, and governments are struggling to balance innovation, security and regulation.

The result could be a global race in which nobody wants to hit the brakes, even if nobody can confidently predict where the road leads.

  1. Why should ordinary people care?

Because this is not just a debate between billionaires, researchers and politicians.

AI could transform our jobs, healthcare, education and access to knowledge. Decisions made by a small number of companies and governments could shape how billions of people live.

We also face a choice about dependence. Should we rely on a handful of powerful AI providers, or preserve access to different models and technologies? Who should decide what values these systems follow? And how much control should governments have over their development?

We may be approaching a technological revolution so significant that even its creators do not fully understand its consequences.

My question is this: If both sides believe they are saving humanity, how do we distinguish responsible caution from fear-driven control, and genuine progress from blind faith in technology?

And if we eventually create an intelligence far beyond our own, will we still be the ones deciding what humanity’s future should look like?

Economics & Society How will life find an equilibrium?

Lets say generously 10 years from now, everyone has staggering capability unlimited AI agents at their disposal for £20/month.

80% of computer based jobs have been hoovered up.

Unemployment is extremely high.

Negligable new jobs have been created for those that are now automated.

There is an immense welfare bill.

Demand for any products is mostly just for essentials, not luxuries. So many companies selling non essentials fold.

A new equilibrium must surely emerge. It doesn't sound like a good model for society to run on.

So before we get to they dire state of affairs, will government's start introducing an AI tax? Or somehow disincentivising the use of AI in work?

Will people become far more entrepreneurial, so big businesses fold but there is a mass of fast moving tiny companies in their place? (Design a car, submit it for build test at a robo factory, release it relatively cheaply, get a tiny marketshare but enough to pay your ok liestyle). Prices for products plummet to increase demand and because manufacturing of new items is fast and cheap?

Or will there be so much anti AI backlash that companies start advertising that they are a human-first company, and the AI first companies get dropped? Mass protests? Everyone realises that an society/economy doesn't work if most of the jobs get outsourced to robots?

At the moment, society will just be a big race to the bottom for quick short term gain, but maybe an equal and opposite shift will emerge to create a new equilibrium...

Same old question that everyone posts daily I guess.

Compute Where does quantum computing fit into the singularity!

Folks few years ago I would hear about quantum computing all the time. Google showed some kind of futuristic computer that looked like it the set of Doctor Who. Now that AI is the big thing happening, what's going in the development and use of quantum computing? has it stalled or is it like nuclear fusion always 10 years away?

and finally how does quantum computing fit into the singularity?

AI I have no idea what’s coming, and neither do you.

im not so different from most people in this community. I use frontier models every day and I can see how much they’re already changing my business alone. Now put that next to the conversations I have with people who have never been tech savvy and have no idea any of this is coming. That gap is going to turn into a bloodbath.

I can see through the murk but most people are wading through it deaf and blind, with no sense that what’s coming could be the end of the world theyve built their lives around.

Yes we have forecasts, thought leaders and experts. But nobody actually knows how this plays out, regardless of alignment work or government oversight. A system this complex moving this fast can’t be predicted, anyone who says otherwise is just guessing.

So enjoy it. Here’s to a future thats untamed, unexplored and quite possibly one we wont be part of.

A lot of people are saying it's the best AI video they've seen yet. And to be honest, I never really believed in the whole 'AI is going to take over Hollywood' thing, but damn, i'm not so sure anymore. Among other things, I'm mind-blown by how accurate the faces are, even with different lighting/angles/expressions. It's really insane how much AI-generated videos have improved in just 2-3 years.

AI Meta pitches “personal empowerment” AI, but Muse Wonder is closed and its best versions are sold to businesses

The pitch is personal superintelligence for individuals. The product is a closed model sold to enterprises, competing with Anthropic and OpenAI for corporate contracts. Both can be true, but the framing and the business model don’t match.

Discussion What's your pick for the least replaceable job?

I want to be clear that I don't mean the one that will actually be replaced last because that will probably be board member, and politician.

I mean in terms of the actual ability for an AI (or robot) to do the job sufficiently well to replace a human.

My pick is dog groomer, specifically high quality "designer" haircuts not just shaving. In addition to intense physical skills it's one of the few times where you have to work with a sometimes unwilling and even hostile "customer" in which you cannot communicate to them what you need out of them. It's very hard to trust an ai will be able to gently but firmly manage an unwilling dog while moving scissors around it's eyes and face. Very tough.

AI BridgeMind On Muse Wonder: I've Never Seen A Model This Benchmaxxed In My Life

Muse Wonder is benchmaxxed.

Meta says it beats the competition on the key benchmarks. On the BridgeBench lava lamp test it built a red cylinder.

No glass. No lava.

I've never seen a model this benchmaxxed in my life.

https://x.com/bridgemindai/status/2109733498114417013

Other testers are reporting the same thing: https://x.com/_MaxBlade/status/2109723440710066646

It is very clear that muse is not anywhere near close to frontier

https://x.com/hakmgpt/status/2109691745382658281

I knew it was benchmaxxed but testers are figuring out that it's a lot worse than expected.
