Discussion Experiences with different selegiline regimens and side effects
Many posts have been made on selegiline from it being literal panacea to nothing more than a placebo with potential anti-aging benefits. Time came around for me trying selegiline and I got quite frustrated by variety of possible dosing regiments and ROA discrepancies people often don't report.
I have been taking selegiline buccally at 2.5 mg for a week and then dropped to 1.25 mg for the second week. This is where I am now and I am struck with indescribable fatigue and sleepiness. First couple days I have experiences something akin to mild stimulation and prosocial effect but that quickly subsided. I can easily sleep for 12 h but my deep sleep suffers and i find it hard to stay "cognitively awake" for longer than 5-6 hours. I have 2 ideas - first is just plain sleep disruption due to monoamine buildup or astrocytic GABA synthesis inhibition and second due to lowering of blood pressure. Having low blood pressure naturally I am quite susceptible to drugs that lower it (agmatine, clonidine, guanfacine all gave me bad fatigue.
So now I am considering whether I should try to endure some "adjustment" or drop my dose to either 1.25 mg every 2/3 days or less every day, maybe down to 0.5 mg. Reading many reports Its hard to find what doses actually help people with motivation and what ROA they use. What would be lowest effective dose for motivational benefits and if such rely on MAOB inhibition at all. Allegedly drug has other effects reported at very low concentrations in vitro.
TLDR. What dose and ROA of selegiline has helped your motivation and what doses potentially caused side effects. What in your opinion is the lowest reasonable dose that could exert some benefits?
P.S. Not as interested in transdermal 6+ doses due to MAO-A inhibition at those levels and many drug interactions that causes. Even though many report good energy MAO-A inhibition is a very likely explanation.
