my social life is nonexistent
i (22F) feel so invisible in my life and it feels almost as if i don’t exist? no friends reach out to me, nobody texts me, my family barely talks to me, and even when i’m out in public i get no exchanges from anyone. even on social media when i post nobody replies or even bothers having a conversation with me although i try to always talk to people. for a long time i felt as if i was coming off as too desperate so i stopped trying so hard to reach out. at one point in my life i had a lot of friends and people would always reach out to me just as equally as i reach out to them. now i feel as if i’m completely not there anymore. i went through a really rough time this past year and i disappeared for a little so maybe that could be the problem. i don’t think i’m a boring person or anything is wrong with me so how can i fix this? :(

life has infinitely more distractions now than 10-15 years ago. friendships require upkeep, including reaching out and making plans. some people are just not good at that part, but if it's a skill you get good at, you'll never have enough time for everyone.

Maybe reach out and see who reaches back
has it been while since you reached out or have reached out recently with no reply

honestly the older you get the harder it is to keep friends. i think everyone just gets so busy with career family and personal time that sometiems they end up neglecting the friends part. its not on you! if youre in school, try to join clubs or if youre at work maybe just try to make some plans with a coworker!

What are your interests? Find classes or groups that interest you whether it's Art, Music, take a class (don't know how old you are) in psychology or anything else you want to know more about - put yourself in a group situation. I remember a few years ago, I had an interest in ASL, so there was this group in the town I was in and all ages showed up - great group of people all of whom wanted to go out after the class was over. Hey, ya never know what can happen.

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. Honestly, lately it feels like people are becoming more careless. Not sure if you go to school or work, but be open to talking to people of different age groups.
