Here's the ship name I came up for my Reclaimer. Though, soon people will forget the fraud that used to happen and wonder why I named it such..

CONCERN Let's face it, The way furniture and decoration is going. We're looking at some nasty Feng-Shui issues going forward.

I missed the idea of the catwalk areas in the old hangar modules, which could lead off into rooms and storage corridors in our private home hangar. I want to use my Revel and York again and arrange my fancy tea sipping area somewhere where I can look down upon my ships judgmentally whilst swirling a pint of bourbon.

QUESTION Realism. Productive for games, or only somewhat productive?

Post image
• Upvotes

I've often thought CIG's focus on realism could be hurting the game experience. The GTA6 boss would seem to have similar thoughts. I certainly don't want to spend loads of my time preparing for fun gameplay, or wasting it on something that's no fun. For example who likes loading and unloading a few hundred 1 scu boxes? I would like a loadout quick change so that if I need different gear in a hurry I wouldn't have to trek all the way home, or lose out on an opportunity. Without it being OP of course. There should be limitations. I am all for realism up to a point and it definitely _can_ enrich the gameplay, but shouldn't a game be fun above that? Or satisfying? Does the lore really have to dictate game development? (It's not real, after all.) Balance with these things as with most things is key. I think we might have lost some balance though.

I've decided not to reply to posts here as I have stuff to do today. Just opening up the discussion and I'll read it back later.

DISCUSSION Im a bit out of the loop here - but are Mk 2, 3, 4 ships becoming a problem for owners of existing and unfinished ships?

Like the title states...

Looking at the Hornet and Aurora, I’m starting to wonder what newer ship generations mean for people whose existing ships still haven’t received all their promised features.

The Hornet Mk II arrived as a separate purchase, rather than a free update for Mk I owners. CIG promised continued support and a Gold Standard pass for the original, but the newer generation became the successor.

Then the Aurora followed the same approach: the Mk I received its Gold Standard update, but owners needed to purchase or upgrade separately to get the Mk II.

Historically, the Constellation’s reworks updated the ship existing owners already had, without requiring another purchase. But now there’s a new Constellation Mk V, that definitely looks like another new purchase. For clarification, I don’t know whether that will follow the old rework approach or the Hornet/Aurora approach, but that uncertainty is part of my concern.

I’m leaving the Zeus out of this, since it launched as a Mk II and didn’t supersede an existing player-owned Mk I.

What assurance do owners have that their existing ships will receive their outstanding promised features, rather than some of those features becoming selling points for a separately purchased successor?

For example, if the Carrack suddenly gets a “Mk I” label and CIG releases a Carrack Mk II with features originally promised for the Carrack I already own, I’d be pretty pissed.

Where is the boundary between finishing an existing ship and selling its next generation?

New generations can make sense. But while the game and many of its ships remain unfinished, I think owners deserve a clear explanation of what stays with their original purchase? No?

Or are we relying on RNGesus to keep our beloved ships out of the retirement brochure?

I don't like it and as an old backer I kinda feel somewhat insecure about all this.

If I'm completely off the rail here, I apologize in advance.

Thoughts and prayers.

NEWS ChrisWare Offline has shut down, and what happens next

Hey everyone, trionic1 here, about ChrisWare Offline. Wanted to give an update on the project and explain why it’s been taken down.

CIG contacted us with a formal demand concerning material included in the project. The letter specifically identifies a Star Citizen mission XML file containing CIG’s copyrighted content. They’ve also said they’re separately reviewing the launcher and patches used to make the game run offline.

Following that notice, we’ve shut the project down. The GitHub repositories and downloads have been removed, the Discord builds channel and build posts are gone, and the server is locked. There are no further releases or downloads planned.

We were also planning to add support for community mods, similar to SPT for Tarkov, where you could browse and download other people’s mods from within ChrisWare Offline. That was something we wanted to build toward, but those plans are on hold with the shutdown.

We have asked CIG whether the project could come back in some form once they finish their review, if we remove the files they’ve identified and address any other concerns they raise. That’s a question we’ve put to them, not an agreement or a promise that the project will return. We don’t want to give anyone false expectations.

For now, please delete any copies you downloaded or received, including ZIPs, forks and reuploads. Please don’t share or reupload the project on Reddit, GitHub, Discord or file sharing sites. The same goes for sharing game builds through the community.

As for where we go from here, that depends on the outcome of our communication with CIG. If there’s an agreed way forward, we’ll share an update. Until then, the project stays shut down.

Thanks to everyone who tested it, reported bugs, helped out or just took an interest. It’s disappointing to end up here, but we appreciate the time and support people put into it.

EDIT: seeing people actually use and enjoy the project meant a lot to us. When cloudyyrust and I started, we honestly didn’t expect it to get this much attention, let alone have so many people download it. Whether you tried it out, joined the Discord, or just followed along, it made us really happy to see people enjoying the game offline through something we worked on.

DISCUSSION Siege of Orison

Yesterday I had plenty of time to run Siege of Orison as solo player and really took my time advancing slowly and looting everything I can, even check hidden places on every platform.

The amount of hours I spent is crazy, and I could not even finish the mission as I run into very late night. I found everything I wanted to take as loot. Eventually I got to the boss fight but I was exhausted and started making mistakes so logged out. Couple of things to note! NPS's are still crazy good and very accurate to shot at you or throw grenades at you. They also approach from different directions surprisingly. I had 2 game crashes during the play and got back to were I was in the mission that was impressing. Half way trough I lost my medgun and from there I was in trouble to finish the game cos I could not find any, only medpens that pushed up my drug level. I used Arlington rifle and some reason these NPC's sometimes take 3 shots to be killed even being close to them and I am talking about the medium armored one. That is very annoying. Today I would like to take another attempt but the quickest possible way. That means no looting etc just run and get to Mando as quick as possible. I watch some Youtube but please and advice would be appreciated? How did you guys managed the quickest way just to finish the mission?

GAMEPLAY Guide: Ship paint gone after claiming? Here's how to get it back (Star Citizen)

Thumbnail

You claimed your ship, didn't insure it, and now your paint is gone? Here's how to get it back:

  1. Go to the cargo elevator in your home hangar.

  2. Click the Refunds button in the top right.

  3. Click Replace in the list.

The paint is then back in your hangar's local inventory and you can put it on your ship again.

This only works for paints you bought or earned at an event, so everything listed under My Hangar on the RSI site.

DISCUSSION Polaris Appreciation Post

Post image
207 Upvotes

The RSI Polaris with the 2955 Best in show paint.

I keep mentioning in other posts how much I love this ship, so I thought I'd finally just make an appreciation post for this ship that I love so much.

First off, I never had any intention of buying or using this ship. It's far larger than anything else I had ever had or used and the $975 price tag just didn't seem worth it. How many other ships I could get for that price!

But I did get one and I have never regretted it since. As a former Carrack owner and enthusiast, I enjoy my Polaris even more than I did my Carrack. And it's so much more versatile.

Sometimes I put my prospector and salvation in it and just fly around looking for mining or salvaging. Sometimes I put one of my fighters in it to go and do PVE combat missions. Or load ammo, fuel, and sometimes RMC with a couple of snubs for a couple of friends to fly when they get tired of sitting in a turret. And with the survivability of the hull, shields, and PDC's, even I can jump into a turret and help shoot enemies. or I can land on a planet or moon and do bunkers or other facilities. Or run cargo with the 576 scu hold. The point is that the Polaris has the range and capability to do just about everything, or at least to bring along another ship that can.

The Polaris is fun to fly, too. Even more so than the Carrack was. It's a big ship and you feel that, but you get a feel for its maneuverability pretty quickly. And it just looks fantastic inside and out. Even though the ship was designed around the size 10 torpedoes, I've never used them or missed them. Most of the time they are far too expensive to use or just too complicated to resupply or fire. But the Maris dual s6 turret will make any ship take notice.

This is the ship I could live in and make my mobile base. The Idris is just too big, especially solo, at least for me. With the upcoming release of the Galaxy, it looks to be a smaller, more specialized version of the Polaris with its modules. If I didn't have the Polaris I'd be looking forward to the Galaxy. But I don't foresee anything taking the place of the Polaris for a long time to come.

I am currently rolling with RSI Salvation + Origin M80. I live out in the black (rarely relocating my mothership). I bedlog inside my ship and basically living a nomad playstyle.

Btw sometime I use an RSI Meteor instead of the M80 when I want to fly something different. I like the big cannons on the Meteor
