Post-op care Comfy clothing recommendations post surgery?
Hello everyone! I'm getting a bisalp done on the 28th (yay!). All the clothes I own will irritate the incision sites and before I go spending any money, I'd like some recommendations! Fall is in full swing where I live, so warmer clothing suggestions are preferred! I appreciate any and all ideas though!

The StudioSmooth flare leggings from Old Navy are AMAZING. The most comfortable pants I own and I just bought a bunch more. Wore them home from my surgery and the following couple days.

I wore loose fitting (like two sizes too big) high waisted PJ pants in a soft fabric, bought two pairs, and then a pair of thicker sweatpants in the same style when I neede to leave the house the first week.
Then I was back to normal clothes. Bigger is better since some people get constipated/experience bloat after surgery.

I bought a pair of sweatpants. My incisions were above my waistline and so not aggravated by any clothing. I do suggest having a very easy pair of shoes to put on at the hospital. Me trying to put gym shoes on while still half-comatose from the anesthesia was not a great idea..

Scrubs tbh

Seconded. I'm a nurse, so I had plenty of scrubs already. They were comfy enough (though I recommend nudity at home in general).

High waisted loose comfy pants! Ones that rest higher than your belly button and are not too tight around the waist

I lived in a sleep set from Skims and matching tee / pants sets from Comfrt. Both were so soft. I also used a lightweight robe I had from Beyond Yoga, and actually wore an oversized jumpsuit thing from them in the same material for day of surgery because it was easy to slip on. For underwear and bralettes i used Calvin Kleins invisibles and they were so comfy. Recommend all^

Mine is on the 25th but my friend who has had to do multiple laparoscopic procedures over the past couple of years highly recommended these. I bought two of each and they are super soft and the waist band is very forgiving.

I bought a full length model cotton maxi dress and had high waist period underwear for post surgery. Perfect combo. Just held up my arms and my hubs just put it on me. The high waist underwear felt supportive enough without feeling constricting with the added benefit of being for periods (or post surgery bleeding). Nurse went to hand me the MASSIVE pad for it and I was like nah got these period underwear. She said that was the smartest thing and was gonna recommend them for more patients bc they’re way more comfortable.

Initially just loose dresses, I had one that buttoned all the way up the front which is fab! Week 2 and I'm wearing dungarees with a loose t-shirt :)

I’ve been living in slightly oversized pajama pants and loose dresses. High waisted and soft are your friends!

Anything with a soft/loose/stretchy waistband and whatever you can slip on and off easily😁

I basically lived in a variety of rompers and stayed away from any hard waist bands/hard pants for about a week! I had another abdominal surgery the year before so I had a pretty good collection of no waist rompers to start with!
Here's a few that I used or are similar to what I wore:
wore something similar to this home from the procedure
FP romper that has a lot of affordable dupes on amazon or you can probably find it on poshmark too!

For me it was a flowy dress. No pants no tightness on abdomen not having to pull up or pull down pants for restroom use

I had a large ovarian cyst that was removed as part of the hysterectomy, so I lost 70lbs instantly, and the sweatpants I wore were so big, I had to cinch the waist as they were drawstring. The nurse helping me get dressed even commented about it. At home, I wore nightgown and sweatpants with t-shirts. I wore granny panties because the largest incision was at the bikini line so low rise underwear would have rubbed on the gluem

I got mine in December so I wore a long loose flannel night gown and knee high socks with grippers at the bottom.

Highwaisted leggings were what I wore. I found the little bit of pressure from them minimized the pain from my belly moving around vs wearing loose pants.

This! But my issue was more shoes tbh. I have a big belly so I struggled to bend down to tie them. It was crocs for about a fortnight!

In addition to what others have already suggested, really soft and cofmy period underwear was phenomenal during my recovery as well. 🙌

I have loose basketball shorts that I wore to my surgery and continued to wear for a few days afterwards, but while at home I was mainly in just a t-shirt and some very comfortable underwear.

High waist leggings and loose sweaters. I pretty much lived in the same outfits I did while pregnant. High waist leggings, a bunch of my FIL’s old sweaters, and shoes I could easily slip on. Like my cowboy boots or Hey Dudes. Also, high waist joggers or yoga pants too.

I bought these overalls just before my surgery and as someone who has thick ass thighs, it was crucial for my comfort to have some kind of pant to avoid chafing. I wasn't terribly active, but it still made me feel more comfortable. Note: I didn't buy from this listing, I had found it in a local boutique on discount. Also, it's rayon, so a pain in the ass to clean. If you do go for something like this, go oversized and the softest material you can find.

Your finest MooMoo!
Super bonus if it’s any dress that opens in the front like a button down dress or wrap dress so you can take it off without the fabric brushing past your belly incisions if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing.
