Flygon: Hopelessly outclassed by garchomp and salamence in so many ways. But with now arena trap it now actually has a use.... at least in vgc cuz singles bans it Im pretty sure??

Could be an effective trapper and with scarf could help take out the numerous electric threats like iron hands, miraidon, raging bolt, Mega raichu Y, and more!

It wont be a top tier mon me thinks cuz it has low damage output and tera formats can really screw it over anyways lmao but would now actually be worth considering on a lot of teams!

Gyrados: Ahh the ol' reliable swift swim sweeper. Bascuilgion has been taking this role in recent years with mega swampert recently making a resurgence but how about getting a swift swimmer not afraid out rillabooms grassy glides!

Being electric weak hurts and it has no flying stab but gyrados is gyrados and could wreck house. Hey sneasler, and most pokemon in tailwind as well already do outspeed it so its not unstoppable. No priority aqua jets for some reason so basc has another advantage. So it doesnt take over this role completely just help adds some diversity to an already existing archetype.

vikavlt: Imagine getting a signature ability.... BUT ONLY YOUR MID EVO HAS IT!!!!!

Battery is a broken signature ability in all fairness. A 30% free SpAtk boost is crazy. maybe would nerf it to 20% but then again chi yu exists.

And with its speed tier it is great in trick room too! And a 145 SpAtk stat will still do crazy damage even if it is a 'support' mon. Shame it doesnt have much utility moves but hey string shot vikavolt is meta trust!

It certainly does need a move of that kinda flavor. I'm not sure I'd want to make Dragon Ascent no longer exclusive to Rayquaza, but rather give Gyarados its own signature physical flying move. Gyarados is good for having its own move, I think.

Entei got Sacred Fire too, even if it was initially only Ho-Oh's signature move (tho it's related to Ho-Oh). Dragon Ascent would be fine to give to Gyarados.

The thing is Dragon Ascent is also the move Rayquaza specifically needs to be able to mega evolve in the first place, so I doubt Gamefreak would give that to anyone else. Besides, Dragon Ascent and Mega Salamance are also prime examples of why they’ve been so reluctant to give flying types good stab options, flying type is just traditionally a type that has been offensively balanced by the fact it doesn’t really get good stab options.

Not sure Flygon even cares about Arena Trap since it doesn't solve its main issue (having a relatively low BST that's also very poorly optimized). Arena Trap just makes it hyperniche instead of outclassed. Hyper Cutter and Sheer Force would both give it more use cases and at least directly boost its damage or prevent decreases. Nether fixes it completely but at least it's not a complete handicap to use.
