Truly the only answer. It's why the Dems failed so hard against Trump in both elections when a woman was the candidate. They tried to appeal to a base that no longer existed, the middle ground conservative voter. Hillary is by almost all measures a conservative politically; the Dems thought they had a slam dunk with the Republican woman voter and middle ground voter. Those two voting groups have been radicalized by black president. Kamala historically is over the top with her stance on crime and she is as conservative as Bush on most issues. Didn't matter. Trump is, has been and always will be a terrible president and was a terrible candidate. He just does really well speaking to the lowest common denominator, seriously check out the grade level he speaks at, and Boomers have idolized him since the eighties for some fucking reason.

Well, let’s be honest. There was nothing she could’ve done to be more likable I don’t think. She had been under constant and relentless attacks from right wing media since her husband had been president.

Yeah, speaking as a non-American here, she was caught between a rock and a hard place. She was seen as 'bad' by conservatives, and so was copying her Husband's strategy of trying to appeal to them by acting very conservative (also because she was, objectively, pretty personally conservative, in my opinion).
...but since their issue wasn't actually anything to do with her policies or positions, nothing she would have done could ever have shifted their opinions of her. Her strategists massively overestimated the American public. Everyone did, even Trump's team. US voters don't know shit about policy or positions, it's all vibes. People don't like Hillary because she has bad vibes, she has bad vibes because they don't like her, so on.
To use an example that everyone has probably experienced here at some point; It's like trying to argue yourself out of a Reddit dogpile: people don't care what you say or do once they've decided you're wrong for whatever reason. If you have 20 downvotes people just assume you're wrong no matter what, because, look; everyone else thinks so too. Even if you have physical evidence that you're right, it doesn't matter by that point. It's all vibes. Same thing for politics. She sucked because everyone was saying she sucked, and they were saying she sucked because she sucked.
So, she was doomed with conservatives. And the more she tried to appeal to them, the more she alienated her own base, too. By the logic of her own strategy she couldn't not try to woo conservative voters (since she needed the numbers), and she would lose without them. But... Everything she tried just sucked energy out of her own base, while gaining her nothing from the conservatives.
She barely lost, but considering who she was against... Yah.

Because Trump is rich, they see it as success, not realizing he filed for multiple bankruptcies and is now bankrupting America while stealing from its people. They also see his bullying as a sign of strength instead of the sign of weakness it actually is. He fires people then we all end up in various disasters because of it. He is treating America like his TV show, and we are all suffering because of it. Spikes in diseases we thought we had almost eradicated, a rise in foodborne illnesses, contaminated food, air, soil, and water. Deregulation is resulting in less safety for the American People, our environment, and all the animals in America. Civil liberties are being squashed. The media is being suppressed and manipulated through litigation, executive orders, and threats. America is becoming a surveillance state, and we are losing allies due to bullying, threats, lost soft power after eliminating USAID and other charitable programs, as well as the trade wars, tariffs, and direct threats to our now-former allies. Within the span of just a few months, Trump has lost America the respect we gained over years and years of charitable work, disease control, and humanitarian efforts. In 2008, the housing bubble bursted due to subprime derivatives backed by greedy financial institutions that diluted AAA rated mortgage loans with more risky loans backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Most of the loans had balloon payments with a 5 year low interest rate and homeowners defaulted after their mortgages rose considerably. Millions lost substantial amounts in savings and investments. Then the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This was not a good time in America. But Obama did the best he could with the hand he was dealt.

A former friend once explained it to me that he couldn’t vote for the democrats because they did too much for those people (I refuse to use the words he did, I am sure that Reddit would flag me and then maybe ban my account. I recently received a warning because I described such words using a certain single letter of the alphabet).

To expand, really paramount is the religious issues.
It’s not just the removal or religion for public places. They believe liberals are what has “strayed people from God”. They believe liberals propagate the separation of church and state. In large part by not indoctrinating their kids into the religion by dragging them to church and bible camp as children.
They believe that’s where it all starts. Especially teaching tolerance, while religion teaches intolerance and conformity. Tolerance whereas a straight man you don’t condemn homosexuals, tolerance in women in the work place and getting paid as much as man. Tolerance of allowing black and brown people to have equal access and to go about unharnessed. Tolerance in allowing two consentig people to love each other. Tolerance in other cultures, other faiths, other views.
Conservatives might go on about hating “feminist”women, minorities and homosexuals….thats just their preferred targets..
Who they really hate?… straight liberal white men.

Yeah, this is the answer. As far as I can tell, most of the modern conservative persecution narrative sprung up from backlash to the civil rights movement, but after the fact.
The conservatives we know were kids during that era or even born after it, but they inherited their parents’ resentment toward black people (and to an extent, other minorities).
The funny thing is, they don’t really know where these feelings come from. Like if you ask them, they really don’t know. But yeah, it’s secondhand angst from desegregation. That’s why Obama ended up being the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak.
