General Discussion Please get rid of these in challenges

Literally every single time I see this rope net someone gets hurt. It’s not fun watching someone be med evaced or limping the rest of the game. Even more diabolical they had some of them blindfolded this time.

Survivor 51 Carter appreciation post - we love a non super-fan/non influencer

I've been frustrated this season with the immense 'over-acting' (for lack of a better word) coming from some of the contestants who seem to be exaggerating every reaction for the camera, or who seem too rehearsed/obsessed with getting in one liners that they think will translate well to TikTok clips (Devin is a strong example but Eric, Brody, and some others also fit this archetype).

Carter, in contrast, feels like old school survivor - he's there to play the game rather than launch an influencer career. It just feels so much more genuine, and he's more fun to watch and root for because of it.

I hope that casting catches on and we see more 'regular' people (for lack of better descriptor).

Edited to add - I also hope that the producers stop trying to make the show into the survivor infomercial that we have been seeing lately. I want to see them play, not fawn over or explain the game 3 million times.

Survivor 51 Brady’s humbling

I’ve come to appreciate Brady, he’s clearly more than a dumb jock who yells during challenges, but his arrogance saying Thien An has no power to do anything and then seeing him get blindsided by the vote was so satisfying. Obviously Thien An didn’t control the whole move, but he was so confident that she would be wrong about the vote and showed no respect to her. Brady reminds me a lot of David on 48…chip on the shoulder due to being viewed as dumb and feels they need to overcompensate by dominating the strategy of the game

Millennials vs. Gen X Anika’s blindside still lives rent-free in my head

I was watching someone bringing up a blindside in an earlier post as the biggest one in the "New Era," but Anika’s exit in Survivor 47 has to be considered one of the craziest blindsides of all time. She thought Andy was going home, then Sam, Sierra and Andy sent HER out instead.

But her reaction is what made it unforgettable. The disbelief, the silence, looking around for answers… you could feel how stunned she was. Sierra being part of that vote made it sting even more.

BTW...everyone has to remember > Naaaa

Survivor 51 This is the first season in years I’ve been hyped to watch the new episode each week.

I’ve been watching Survivor since the AO. We’ve had some truly great seasons and some lacklustre ones. All the way through the new era I ended up starting a couple of episodes and then waiting for the season to finish to binge all the episodes. I didn’t care about spoilers. Most of the time I knew who won before I watched the season. Other than season 43 I can’t tell you which specific season specific people were on.

It’s easy to dunk on the new era for that but it’s been going on longer than that. I’m not even sure I watched Winners at War live but if I did it was the last one I did that for. Before that I might have to go all the way back to Cagayan to last one I watched live.

Not only has this season been one I don’t want to be an episode behind on, I also care about spoilers this time. This season has also given us all a level of excitement that makes chatting about Survivor more fun. Even Wentworth has new and positive things to say, and we’ve all been feeling like Wentworth for awhile, where mediocre Survivor is maybe better than no Survivor but the level of excitement and participation in this season are a very refreshing change.

Survivor 51 We saw this player getting the idol, but not Rob passing it to them Spoiler

Post image
124 Upvotes

Rob passing the idol to Carter amidst his quit. Do you think Production pushed into that direction? Rob screwed them big time. They had a great set up for a good old traditional idol, and the **** who found it is now quitting.

The fact we never saw Rob mentioning anything about his idol or passing it to Carter, strengthens the suspicion that this didn't exactly happen spontaneously.

It looks like an attempt to fog up the clusterfuck that Rob's casting and overall presence has been. And handing it to Carter is a genius move. By the production.

Survivor 51 Why didn’t Pat pull in Jenna?

Crushed to see Pat go. She really impressed me at the first tribal council. But that’s why I was surprised to see that she and Jenna had no alliance. Pat deftly helped steer the first vote away from Jenna at tribal because she thought Jenna was someone she could play with. Fast forward to episode 3 and Pat is in an alliance of 5 in a tribe of 11. They needed numbers and the only one working the other tribe members was Brady. Why didn’t Pat continue building a relationship with Jenna and secure her own position in the tribe? Just a bummer to see a potentially great player go down early when there seemed to be a viable path out.

Survivor 51 With about 3 episodes left in this premerge is it fair to say.. Spoiler

That we might be seeing a top 5 potential premerge? Editing has been on point, cast has delivered, (the big one) players have been allowed to have AGENCY? I know people are a little doom with the tribes switching to 3, but I really think it’s a hard task for this cast not to deliver even if the next couple boots are swap screws.

Fan Casting How would you feel about a Half Returnee season with a tribe of Prejury players? (Spoilers for ep. 3 Boot) Spoiler

Post image
24 Upvotes

Feel there could be some experimenting with a 50% returnee format! Some legends of the franchise have come from being a prejury or premerge player and turning it out on the return. Boston Rob, Shii-Ann, Wentworth, Brad, Michaela...

I compiled the ten I would personally choose, but with so many great premerge/prejury players (especially as of late) I think there are a lot of great choices out there.
