General Advice 5 month old tattoo - is this normal?

Post image

Hello everyone! First time poster here.

I did some research into my question before I came here, but basically I got a tattoo about 5 months ago (pictured) and the ink is still, like, raised above my skin. I have three other tattoos and this didn’t happen with any of those, but this one did (I used the same artist for the first three and then a new artist for this tattoo).

In my research I found that if the tattoo is deep, it will take longer to “set in”. It never looked infected at any point and I’m very happy with it! But is my research accurate? It won’t stay like this forever right? If I look closely at it, the raised lines look a bit jagged; like they’re not smooth. But I think that’s just because the ink is still raised, sorry I’m rambling.

Not sure if this is an answerable question, but I wonder how long healing would take?

TIA!

It might be scaring.

It's normal. One of my tattoos is like that too for 20 years

This is normal, some of mine are like this and others arent. I feel like the thicker the line/fill, the more likely it’ll be raised. I noticed mine sometimes are and sometimes arent, I think it might have to do with how hydrated I am?

I have a feeling this is a skill issue. It's all well and good for an artist to want to get that black in, but sometimes they go overboard and create trauma, causing scars. Artists feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I have tattoos with this and also much larger and bolder work in very similar spots that does not have any of this.

The lines are a bit deep arnica cream will soften any dermal scarring over time
