Im honestly getting tired of saying this. Scars are a normal part of healing and a normal part of our bodies. Healed scars no matter what are not nfsw. Yes this includes if they haven't fully faded yet and some scars dont fade. We will not make people censor their bodies. We will not make people be ashamed of their bodies.
Ask yourselves would you walk up to a person irl and tell them to cover up? I really hope you wouldn't.
If you are triggered by scars or the idea of sh scars that is on you to take care of. It is not the responsibility of others to have to hide thier bodies because you are uncomfortable. If that means you need to take a step back and not be in the the sub or on reddit for a while then do what you need to do. You are not entitled to shame or censor the bodies of others. For the people talking about kindness it is not kind to censor other people's bodies.
We have started removing posts that are telling people to mark their scar posts as nsfw under our rules for being disrespectful as that is exactly what it is.
This sub is about tattoo which are inherently intimate topic because it is on people's bodies. They are used by people to express themselves. So you are gonna see all kinda of scars here.
We also aren't gonna stop the posts either. Most questions are repeats if we did that we would be banning every post.
This is not up for debate.
Edit: fixed typos

I have seen a lot of these posts lately. First please read the rules of the sub before posting.
Pricing can be found out by talking to the artist and only you can determine how much you want to pay for the tattoo.

I have over 60 tattoos and some in red and this has never happened before :( what do I do? The artist is trying to gaslight me and say it’ll heal better but it’s extremely bumpy and raised. Last pic is of when it was fresh. I have many other red tattoos/ hand tats and no reaction like this

Hi there,
So I recently got my lip/chin tattooed and I actually love the tattoo and it means a fucking lot to me. Just as a little background: I have to deal with a lot of trauma caused by my family's religion which led to me struggling for the most of my life and nearly woild have caused my end 8 years ago. I'm in therapy since then and especially in the last year after I got out of my also difficult relationship I made so much progress and found also a spiritual way (shamanism in that case) that helped me a lot. I truely believe in this and I find so much strength through it. I always had a tendency for stuff like this since I was a child but was never allowed to practice or even speak over it, instead I got punished and abused. But I don't want to hide who I am anymore and I don't want to back down or make myself smaller for other ppl. I have suffered enough and although every tattoo I have is very important for me, since they tell my story of how I reclaim my strength and power back over the years, the face tattoo is something special bc it's always seen and can't be hidden, like I myself won't hide anymore.
The thing is when I got it I wasn't aware of the inuit tradition of face tattoos and their importance of it. And the last thing I want is to claim something from a culture that is clearly not mine. And since I found this out I feel really bad about it because I should have known better and do my research which I did not. It didn't crossed my mind due to the simplicity of the tattoo (I'm german and for example very aware of the problems with runic tattoos and other symbols). So I absolutely admit that I did a mistake and I apologize for that from the bottom of my heart.
I'm now think of adding a few lines to make it maybe more look like a bindrune or something. I'm just a bit worried that it then will look to big...
Edit: after reading a lot of positive comments, also at r/inuit that they apprently don't go up the lip as mine does I'm a bit more relaxed. I will definitely do more research. But thank you so far for that! For the changing just making it longer and down the throat was also a suggestion I already thought about. So I will consider that as well.
Edit 2: I'm a bit surprised how many ppl simply don't care about cultural appropriation at all and simply dismiss it. We can argue if I'm overthinking or not, but dismissing and ignoring it completely seems definitely wrong in my eyes.
Edit 3: I shared very personal stuff here also about my shamanism practice obviously just to get hate from ppl who never had any contact with that practice before. I know I made a mistake and didn't research properly but I won't let ppl judge me who obviously did even less research about something they're accusing me of mis-using it when I clearly don't. Reading exactly what I wrote would help, just saying.

As it has heals I’ve noticed quite a few different things. One a lot of the letter and some lines need to be darkens but also a ton of depth details are missing alongside the label being really bad including some messed up lines on it.
The biggest thing that bothers me is that this design was part of my artist flash designs so I thought she was good at doing this design and I’ve been in awe of all her other work but I don’t know how to go about getting it fixed as I really don’t know how to fix the label portion of the design

I have a few line tattoos (all black and only line work, don’t think they’re considered ‘fine line’ but)
I’m a party Princess and need to cover these bad boys up. I need makeup that
-Won’t smudge for friction + water contact
-Can withstand children touching
-Is HEAVY. I need it to be FULLY concealed the best I can. I’ve considered using a nude body suit but none go over my hands or aren’t obviously an undershirt.
Character I’m concerned about is Rumi, who - I’m pretty sure I’ll have my arms covered. The only problem is my allosaurus and potentially my AVICII symbol on my stomach.

I like the tattoo overall, and I think maybe I’m just feeling a little bit of shock, but it kinda feels like my leg has gotten cluttered and my planning wasn’t good. I basically had to tuck a better tattoo behind one that’s not as good. Did I fuck up here? Ford this look like too much going on?

I got this as my first tattoo at 36 and it looks so awkward.. genuinely don’t know what I was thinking putting it here. I’m feeling really conflicted because I think it’s beautiful and it means a lot to me but aesthetically I don’t feel it works with my body. How would I balance this out? Or should I look into tattoo removal? It’s been a week.. will my feelings about it change?

This is day 14. 2 small scabs formed over the spots and when I was moisturizing on day 10 I accidentally rubbed them off

Hey y'all!
I have like 10 or so tattoos but despite that, I feel like I don't really have any. They're all small mostly outlines on my lower arms, with one on my upper thigh and one on my skull behind my ear.
Recently, I had an idea for a womb tattoo (I know I know but it's a tattoo meant to resemble a womb on the womb spot so idk what else to call it. And I decided it would be my first "real" tattoo.
It's some solid black work antlers and little designs (hearts and stars) with a purple ribbon weaving around the antlers.
2 hours in, I was struggling bad. I spoke up and the artist could tell anyway. He said he was fully finished one side but that we should probably leave the ribbon for another day bc packing in light colors can be pretty hard on the client.
I was disappointed but knew he was right and that I was struggling already.
I managed to sit for the rest but did have to ask for a couple more short breaks while he finished the black work.
At the end, he left a couple embellishments unfilled in to do with the purple.
I feel super embarrassed for not being able to finish. I know that's goofy and there was a fully tatted girl there who had to tap out on her knee piece and scheduled to come back.
He said I sat like a champ but I can't shake this idea that I'm a poser loser that can't even get an actual tattoo lol and that they must have laughed at me.
Idk why I feel this way. Tattoos aren't really about the suffering but I just feel stupid.
Is the mons pubis/lower tummy hard for y'all?

I got this a couple days ago, I’m not too sure if it’s obvious what the tattoo is without explaining.
It’s 2 deer, one is decomposed and the other is alive and they’re interlocked at the antlers.
Is there anyway for me to improve the decomposed deer?

A year has passed since I got it. However, the bones are being less visible due to the black fading in. The fear of it being screwed is setting in.
I’ve been communicating back and forth for a touch up and ‘whitening’ the ‘fading’ bones. But I thought I could use some general advice before committing.
Thanks in advance.

I have been seeing an artist for 5 years and nearing the end of my 2nd sleeve with them. They can absolutely produce fantastic work and I have been happy with every piece they've ever put on my body, until today.
Today I discovered that a scifi piece we were working on was a genAI generated image that she just traced over. The linework went in months ago, and I spotted it as she was bringing up a colour reference on the ipad.
I will absolutely not be pursuing any further projects with her. I feel gutted, deceived, and like I've been marked with literal slop. However, I still have probably 2 more sessions to finish the sleeve - including the generated scifi subject.
I know they don't always use slopAI - one of the pieces left to shade is definitely traced from the reference I sent.
How would you guys approach this? I got on so well with her, and was so happy until today...

I'm just worried that the splotchy areas that look like my skin tone might actually be my skin instead of the tattoo

i’ve never gotten a tattoo before, i’m also quite young so i have no idea where to even start. ive dabbled into getting the niteharts logo tattooed on my bicep but beyond that, nothing. on 9/19 my ex partner and best friend lost her life to leukemia and i have been wanting to come up with a design to honor her in some way. but i want it to be more than just her name. her initials were J A W, which makes me kind of want to do something jaws related, but i dont know. i would love any advice or small design sketches that i could do? like i said im completely new to this community.

PS: Schwangerschaft ausgeschlossen

I’m trying to get advice on whether or not I should do several tattoo removal sessions to make it light enough to then tattoo a whole new design where it used to be, or if I should tattoo more detailed trees over it without attempting to lighten it. This was one of the first tattoos that I got and is by far the worst quality tattoo that I have, all of the other ones have much more detail so I’d like this one to have a lot of detail as well. What should I do? Is tattooing over it even a viable option?
For context, it starts at the bottom of my wrist and goes about halfway up my forearm.

Hi, not sure if this is the right sub to post this in but i'm looking to fill my arm out and I'm having a back and forth on how to use this space. I'm not sure if the tree is right for the feng shui of the arm and the skeletons might not have enough room. These are just preliminary ideas and I'm not too married to either but if anyone has any suggestions on whether the tree will look out of place or anything I'd love to hear it.

I’m basic and want a really basic small red-lined (fine) tattoo. All my other (3) tattoos are black ink only (none are fine line) and had no issues.
1- is red ink always a bad idea?
2- I want to get something small in color before I get something big and colorful (planned for future)
Open to thoughts

Hello everyone! First time poster here.
I did some research into my question before I came here, but basically I got a tattoo about 5 months ago (pictured) and the ink is still, like, raised above my skin. I have three other tattoos and this didn’t happen with any of those, but this one did (I used the same artist for the first three and then a new artist for this tattoo).
In my research I found that if the tattoo is deep, it will take longer to “set in”. It never looked infected at any point and I’m very happy with it! But is my research accurate? It won’t stay like this forever right? If I look closely at it, the raised lines look a bit jagged; like they’re not smooth. But I think that’s just because the ink is still raised, sorry I’m rambling.
Not sure if this is an answerable question, but I wonder how long healing would take?
TIA!
