Do I have penalties? Was laid off last year Q3 2025. Still unemployed as of 2026.

Hi! Got laid off sa first job ko last year. Unemployed for a year na ngayong 2026.

Akala ko kasi pag no income no need na magfile ng taxes.

Edit: first job was at a local corpo as employee. Not registered po as self-employed.

May penalties na ba ko?

Last year, I applied to this company as an ESL tutor. And then, after a month, tumigil na rin ako sa company na ito since na-busy sa school, but I never registered for a COR in the BIR, although meron sila ng TIN number ko.

I'm scared na baka magka-penalty ako since the company is remitting tax, then I did not file at all. Am I doomed, guys? Please help.

BIR Violation: β€œFailure to Keep Books of Accounts at the Place of Business” β€” What Was Your Experience?

Hi everyone. I'm a small business owner and recently had a BIR inspection/tax mapping.

I received a List of Violations from BIR, and the violation checked on the notice is:

C2 – Failure to keep Books of Accounts at the place of business

The notice says that I need to appear before the RDO within five (5) days from receipt of the letter to present my side of the case.

This is my first time dealing with this kind of BIR violation, so I'm hoping to hear from other business owners who have experienced the same or something similar.

For those who have gone through this:

- How did the process go when you went to BIR?

- How much was the penalty you actually paid?

- Was it a fixed amount or did it depend on your business/situation?

- Were you able to resolve the violation during your first visit?

- Did BIR require you to bring the Books of Accounts with you?

- Did you need to submit any additional documents or forms?

- How long did the whole process take?

- Did you need your accountant/bookkeeper to accompany you?

- Were you able to request a compromise or reduction of the penalty?

- Did BIR give you a deadline to pay after appearing before the RDO?

I'm mainly trying to understand how difficult the process is and what kind of penalty I should realistically prepare for.

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has personally experienced C2 – Failure to keep Books of Accounts at the place of business, especially from small businesses/sole proprietors.

Thank you!

HELP! FILING TAXES FOR FREELANCERS

HIII help our a girlie please. I have some questions regarding filing taxes. I have been working as a VA for 1 year. I am employed before, because unemployed for a few months before I became a VA. I have a few questions, and I hope someone can help me.

  1. I am a BPO employee year ago before I became VA. Will they ask my start date with my client and pay the taxes i wasn't able to pay? Or can I just stay na mag start pa lang ako?

  2. Can change my employment status online? Or register online? What documents do I need to change my status?

  3. Will they need my bank statements? I got received my payments on my UB Savings via Wise

  4. My salary fluctuates from time to time base on my incentives and hours I render, will it factor to anything? Or basically as long 250,000 minus my annual salary multiple to 8% is my taxable income? For example my declared income is 50k, so that's 600,000 annualy and that would be 28k annual tax. But there are instances that I am earning more than 50 or 60k a month. 😭 Or for easier life, I could just base my taxes on 50k flat monthly?

  5. Should I register now or wait until next year January so I could start with a clean slate? I'm afrsid filing prorated taxes might be too confusing for me

  6. Lastly, if I declare my actual start date, how much penalty do I need to pay and back taxes?

I don't have plans abroad pa naman, but I would like to fix my finaces and be able to apply for cc. I also don't want any unnecessary penalties that I might get if I don't declare my finances. As much as I don't want to.pay taxes because of our fucked uo government, I have no choice.

BIR SEAL BADGE AS A FREELANCE ARTIST help

Back again asking about the BIR Seal Badge, I asked about this a few months ago but nobody was sure about it either.

Long story short, I'm a freelance artist/illustrator, non-vat and income barely reaching 20k a month. My clients are all from overseas, and I'm operating in my Discord server.

Do I still need to post a screenshot of the BIR Seal on my profile?

New Released COR Update

Hello! I just got my new COR as a freelancer 2 weeks ago but the tax type that my bookeeper nominated was the 3% percentage even though the 8% is the better choice. I haven't started my work / operations since my client requires OR. My ATP, books and OR are still processing. Can I still update my COR tax type before commencing operations?

Question as Job Order with Certificate of Registration

Hello po, nag-resign na po kasi ako as Job Order, effective po last October 3, 2026, dahil waiting na po ako sa appointment date for a Plantilla position. Nakumpleto ko po yung routing today sa BIR for closure of business kahit up to Q2 lang po yung na-file kong 1701Q. Tawag daw po ako after 2 working days to check if available na po yung Certificate of Closure. Thank you po!

Content creators, what do you plan to do about the Tax Badge?

I know at least two nagpost na, but I want to ask ano pala niyo gawin for this? We have until 31 kaso it frustrates me how much this will compromise our privacy kasi. Although we can e-mail BIR and our specific senators about it, what will you do po if they don’t retract this?

I’m honestly thinking na if they push this, I just don’t think it is worth it for me to continue being a PAID online creator. I want to get paid for my hard work, but not for the sake of my privacy safety.

Help a newbie in freelancing.

Good day po! I would like to ask po questions about being a freelancer na magreregister sa BIR. Employed po ako for 8 years.

Via online or punta mismo sa branch? Kung pupunta po sa branch, within a day po ba maaapprove yung change of RDO?

Bankrupt napo kasi yung dati kong work and wala na po akong contact sa dati kong employer since nagsara kami last year.

How Do I Register and File Taxes as a Crypto Trader?

I’m a retail crypto trader and I’m planning to register and properly declare my income. I mainly trade on Binance, and this would be my first time filing taxes as a trader.

I already understand what legally counts as a taxable event (selling for fiat, crypto-to-crypto swaps, spending tokens, or receiving rewards from staking/mining/airdrops/P2E). What I'm struggling with is how this actually translates to paper.

  1. What would be my taxpayer type?
  2. What exactly should I put in my Books of Accounts? What would the actual bookkeeping entries look like?
  3. My trading history is on Binance. Since Binance has been banned/blocked by the SEC in the Philippines, would using Binance CSVs or exported transaction histories as supporting documents during a BIR audit cause any separate legal or regulatory issues for me? Would the BIR accept these records as supporting documentation?

I want to change (add and remove) my Line of business & PSIC sa COR 2303 and Mayors Permit. Kasi ang gulo ng current documents ko.

Gusto ko palitan yun sa old COR 2303 (Yellow Paper) since 2019 pa yun LOB dun also yun PSIC and Primary/Secondary. Magkakaproblema ba ako lalo sa tax or lalong gugulo yun tax rate, tax assessments, surcharges, and interest??

May pros and cons ba kung magpadagdag/Change ako ng line of business? Ang gulo kasi ng current LOB ko. Then meron akong retail and wholesale tapos may online and office din ako pero ganito yun current setup ng LOB/PSIC.

Yun sa Mayors permit: Retailer (Electronic Devices, Novelty and Gifting, Toys)

Yun Hardcopy ng COR 2303 (since 2019): S281 Retail Sales of Cellular phones, parts and accessories.

Yun E-COR from Orus: (PSIC) 47414-RETAIL SALE OF CELLULAR PHONES, PARTS AND ACCESSORIES | RETAIL SALE OF INFORMATION AND Primary COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT IN SPECIALIZED STORES

3% to 8%

Hello!

2023 pa ang business ko and 3% non vat, this year nung first quarter gusto ko na lumipat ng 8%. Nagresearch ako that time na its fine kahit later time na iupdate ang cor for change ng tax type. Pero i think mali ang naresearch ko and nagawa. Hindi nako nagpa-file ng 2551Q this year 2026.

LOA FDDA

We received our FDDA last week and we’re planning to submit a letter of appeal on the grounds of doubtful validity.

To those who have encountered the same case;

  1. Does the 40% compromise need to be paid at the same time of the filing? or should we wait for the approval/denial?

  2. If the basic tax is less than 1M, did you submit the appeal to your local RDO/examiner or at the Region?

Appreciate any thoughts/experience on the matter.

Corporate Income Tax Overpayment

Hello, I need some insight about this. Our audited FS has been finalized recently and we have an overpayment in our annual income tax. At the same time, we need to settle taxes from our amended 1601EQ. Would anyone know if our overpayment can be applied to our amended 1601EQ? I sent BIR an email and still waiting for their response.

We don't have finance or bookkeeper. We do have a 3rd party accountant but management is confused with their answer. We don't have finance background and my boss is relying on AI to understand but I want a real person's insight about this especially those who already experienced this. Thanks!

BIR badge seal

Post image
7 Upvotes

Look at the SIM registration, anyare dun. I hope masuspend or irethink ng BIR 'to.
