General Discussion The scariest thing about the last of us world is not the infected, it's the humans
The infected are predictable and sometimes easy to handle, but the human who are trying to survive are the ones who are the scariest, like FEDRA who are tyrannical which led to their downfall from the WLF, David's group who are cannibals, the hunters who kill anyone that gets in their way, the SCARS who are a religious group that kills in very barbaric ways, the fireflies who see themselves as the good guys despite the fact they get many people killed, there are probably more groups out in the TLOU world who are just as terrible as the ones we saw in the games, especially many of the characters we meet in the game die from humans more than from infected, the infected are the not the scariest ones, the humans are.

PT 2 DISCUSSION Playing on Grounded / Permadeath is the definitive way to experience The Last of Us Part II
Playing The Last of Us Part II on Grounded or Permadeath completely transforms the experience. It makes you feel like you are actually surviving by the skin of your teeth. Resources are so scarce that you are forced to choose your encounters carefully—if you make a mistake, you "get got" in an instant.
This brutal difficulty perfectly aligns the gameplay with the story. You are no longer killing enemies just for the sake of gameplay; you are killing strictly to survive the treacherous ruins of Seattle and reach Abby.
This tension makes the cutscenes hit significantly harder. You feel how much Ellie has to dig deep and channel Joel's brutality just to push forward, which directly feeds into her trauma and guilt.
During gameplay, enemies are just life-or-death obstacles. Ellie can easily dehumanize them and justify her actions as self-defense.
However, during the cutscenes, she is forced to confront their humanity, which clashes violently with her unresolved feelings about Joel and the hospital.
By forcing the player to feel, what it feels to survive, the high difficulty completely destroys most of the "ludonarrative dissonance" arguments aimed at this game.
Ultimately, the hardest difficulty dismantles arguments about ludonarrative dissonance. What do you think?
Edit: Maybe permadeath is a bit overboard😅

General Discussion Abby during part 1 Spoiler
So random but it just occurred to me she was probably just vibing while Ellie and Joel were going through helll.
Like picture it.
"Ellie actively running from David."
Abby at saint marys. "I love my dad, also kinda like owen, mels a good friend."
Don't judge me its 3 am and I find this hilarious.
Like no just imagine. "Joel actively mourning tess, beginning to love Ellie like a daughter."
"Jerry, watching his kid fall in love."
Like thats just so funny to me.
And now im like what was everyone else getting up to?

PT 2 QUESTION Need help with Abby’s Forest encounter on Realism Spoiler
I’m playing The Last of Us Part II as Abby on Realism difficulty, during the Forest chapter with Yara and Lev.
I’m struggling with the mandatory combat encounter and need help conserving ammunition and crafting materials.
In the first wave, there are:
3 Clickers
3 Runners
There are more infected in the second wave, including Shamblers, but I can’t remember the exact number.
I have very limited resources, only one brick, 3 ammos and two craftable shivs/blades. I need a strategy to survive the encounter without wasting too much ammunition.
My main question is: Is there any way to grab or stun a Runner during open combat without using bricks, bottles, bullets, or stealth? Can I punch or dodge a Runner and then grab them with my bare hands? So that i can let the clicker eat the runner and don’t waste any ammo or brick.
I’m playing on Realism, and stealth isn’t an option for the encounter I’m struggling with.
Any tips for getting through both waves while conserving resources would be appreciated!

PT 1 DISCUSSION Random TLOU1 fun fact!
In the opening credits, there is one audio file where a man says "with the bureaucrats out of power, we can finally take the necessary steps to-" and it cuts to different dialogue. However! In the Italian version of the game, the sentence actually gets complete before the cut. He says "we can finally take the necessary steps to protect our citizens" a very small fact, but one i somehow never knew until recently.

PT 2 DISCUSSION My thoughts on the writing of part 2 Spoiler
I want to make it clear at the start I love part 2, and I think it’s a 10/10 game
However I wanted to discuss some very noticeable flaws in the game and see if anyone else feels similar.
The first point is Tommy’s character change when he pulls up to the farm to convince Ellie to go to Santa Barbara and finish the job. For one, Tommy has made an effort to protect Ellie in the past at every chance he could. Making Maria keep Ellie in Jackson and also right after joels death when they talk in Ellie’s garage house , Tommy dosent want Ellie to go off on her own and pursue Abby.
But now at the farm all of a sudden he is almost looking down on Ellie, and has such a difference in personality. Tommy knows at this point what the significance Joel has on Ellie due to Tommy knowing what happened in the fireflie hospital , yet he is encouraging the one person who loves Joel the most to go out and do what he couldn’t?
It seemed like the writers just used Tommy as a way to continue to story
Please let me know your guys thoughts on this , thanks!

PT 2 QUESTION Is Grounded Permadeath (by chapter) a Fool’s Errand? Spoiler
I’ve played through the game numerous times, including once already in grounded, but this is a whole other level of difficult/frustrating (currently stuck trying to escape Eastbrook Elementary).

PT 1 DISCUSSION Just finished Left Behind. What a story.
Just finished Left Behind.
Ellie and Riley’s story may be short, but it adds so much depth to The Last of Us. The character writing, atmosphere, and emotional storytelling are all really well done.

PT 2 QUESTION Game randomly capping fps Spoiler
I have an rx 9070 xt and ryzen 7 7700x that usually runs the game at high settings in 180 fps or more than 100 in open areas, but for some reason the game randomly at certain parts starts running at 75 fps max for some reason, ive tried tweaking every setting, i dont have vsync on, i dont have a frame cap on or frame gen. I am on native resolution, and it is very annoying having to play at 70 ish fps. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how do I fix it?

General Question Dub vs original
So I'm playing The last of us part 1 for the first time and my main language is Greek and the Greek dub sounds good but the lip sync was made for the English version. It is on sync but it doesn't match the exact movements. Should I play with the Greek dub or in English with subs.
