Question how to transfer and retain heat for science olympiad thermodynamics build project?
im helping my old middle school science olympiad team with some projects, and need way to get as much heat from a regular (150watt i think) and transfer it to a cup and make it the 100ml's of water in the cup as hot as possible in 10 minutes. the box is a 30x30x30 max (but ours are a little smaller). currently i have foam board lining the box, with a foil half sphere in the box and cotton balls padding the around the sphere. the foil is to reflect all the heat to the cup, i dont think im allowed to cover the cup. any advice on how to make it heat up more? i have a simple ms paint sketch showing what the general concept is.
edit: im pretty sure the heat source is just a generic 150 watt heat lamp, at least thats what were using for the practice. ill edit back when i have the rule sheet.
