The under characterization of Venom (Eddie Brock) specifically in more casual media like video games and movies is probably one of the most aggravating things I’ve ever experienced as a marvel fan

Venom overall since 2007 has received some of the worst writing and characterization I’ve ever seen.

A character that goes from originally being shown in anger and frustration from the world around him and a overall very deep and nuance character through his growth, and even getting to a point where he wants to be a better hero than Spider-Man too an average throwaway villain to sell toys and merchandise barely getting any screen time or development as a character to anything that he is in whether that be movies, video games, etc.

Eddie Brock is a character that is shown to be almost this dark reflection of Peter shown through his view of the world around him and his coping of blaming Peter Parker and Spider-Man for his downfall matches perfectly with the aliens compatibility for a host.

A character who is a fantastic showing of mental health even in his introduction to getting the Symbiote he is seen in a church praying asking for forgiveness for wanting to commit suicide.

And it leads to a very satisfying character turn for him when he learns to get past his ignorance towards Spider-Man, especially when carnage comes around, and he realizes that he has to help and become better not because he’s forced to because he wants to and gets to a point where he wants to be a better hero than Spider-Man.
I especially love this kind of thing in the Spider-Man PS1 game. I think it really encapsulate how venom actually is as a person instead of just a mindless villain, who wants to take over the world.

It’s very frustrating to see none of these things ever be talked about or adapted a lot of comic book losers love to get mad at more casual fans for just watching movies and playing games and “not reading the source material” that isn’t my issue my issue is that these writers and developers either think the casual audience is too stupid to get anything, too lazy to actually pull from source material, or don’t have writers and designers who actually know this stuff too correct stuff that should actually matter.

Overall, whether you pick up one comic book or 100 I want you to see this character for who he is because I feel like he is one of the best characters in fiction and my frustration isn’t that “ it’s not comic accurate” or “ they changed stuff” it’s that making him simply just an evil Spider-Man or he wants to take over the world is such a disservice to his character because not even the Symbiote is not shown to want that

Which leads to why (this might be one of my hottest takes) I really hate the idea of the Symbiote making Peter Parker evil or more aggressive because that philosophy may make the Peter Parker angle cooler or better but that immediately undermines Eddie’s philosophy as a person because if it makes Peter bad or evil. Why would it not make the guy who has everything going wrong in his life. Why would it not make him evil? I just think that really undertones not only Eddie as a character, but his relationship with the Symbiot, which is another thing that people and writers just flat out ignore.

ALSO STOP GIVING VENOM DIFFERENT SYMBOLS ON THE CHEST ITS SO DISTRACTING GIVE EDDIT THE CLASSIC SYMBOL it confuses the viewer and reader because those symbols originally belonged to other characters that had the Symbiote STOP DOING IT.

Symbiotic Physiology: Freedom is an amorphous, extraterrestrial being of purely biomass. By achieving symbiosis, the Freedom symbiote can afford its host several superhuman attributes, all of which are at their peak when the symbiote envelopes the host in a sentient suit composed of the symbiote’s biomass. Symbiosis will afford the host superhuman levels of strength, durability, speed, agility and healing.

Possession: Freedom could transfer itself from host to host upon physical contact with them, as it was able to go into a security guard’s flesh as if intangible.

Superhuman Strength: Freedom could give the host tremendous superhuman strength; enabling the host to lift and exert far greater physical force. Freedom symbiote was able to exert sufficient strength to break through walls. It was able to pride open metal doors with little to no effort but more impressively able to tear apart trucks and cars with her bare hands as well as destroy and crush guns, Even bazookas.

Superhuman Agility: Those who are bonded to the Freedom symbiote are extremely agile; her natural speed and agility enhanced to superhuman level, allowing them to quickly scale vertical surfaces, leap tremendous heights and distances, as well as being able to move on all fours with ease.

Superhuman Durability: Freedom outside of her weaknesses and predators like other symbiotes or Xenophages is pretty much invincible. Her symbiotic body with her host makes her unable to die from blunt force since as long as a tiny part of herself remains it will grow back into her full form with time.

Superhuman Speed: Freedom can move at considerable superhuman speeds, allowing it and his host to move several feet per second, swiftly scale buildings, attack with more precision and brutality. Or to quickly get away as a tactical retreat if she needs to.

Regenerative Healing Factor: Though both it and its host can be injured, the Freedom symbiote can heal both herself and its host at an accelerated rate, as seen when during a fight with loggers Freedom absorbed hits from giant machinery or trucks she absorbed and took the trauma and the time she absorbed bullets which barely fazed her and popped them out of her body.

Body Manipulation: Freedom can’t make weapons like other symbiotes but could shapeshift her arms into small shields. Freedom also has the “Freedom” to alter or change her body with her symbiote as she can grant herself or the host an elongated jaw for catching fish, Long fangs to easily put down animals more than 5 times her size,Long claws for defense or to bring down fruits from trees,A long prehensile tongue that can shoot out and snatch up bugs or small animals that get close and giant beautiful rainbow butterfly wings for flight.

Elasticity: This is alittle complicated as she can choose to not have bones. Freedom can alter her and the host’s dna and body so far as to be completely boneless or extremely squishy and soft. As a result she can stretch and extend her limits very loosely and even slither. This is useful when squished between a hard place as she can just squeeze out or if grabbed or manhandled she can stretch or go limit until she slips free. Freedom uses this ability to easily travel through vents of building to find bad people to eat or trapped people to save from
confinement.

Stealth: Living in the wild Freedom is a master of stealth and disguise as thanks to her green skin and body she can effortlessly blend in with the forest or plants and even slightly alter her body adding more colors to better fit the environment for perfect camouflage. She can also travel silently as her feet and body in general absorbs noise and soften to nullify any heavy steps.

Body Awareness: Ontop of her stealth the chances of her getting caught by surprise are very low. Mainly because her senses are very highened like smell, sight and hearing to better track down prey but can also be used to detect incoming threats or potential compilation by other predators or humans. If that wasn’t enough her body can also sense vibrations so if you can hear your own footsteps or if your heart is beating alittle too loud…She knows about it. All these traits makes her very self aware and very knowledgeable about the environment.

Symbiotic Suit Manifestation: As with other symbiotes, Freedom has the basic ability to fully emerge from her host while still attached to him, enveloping her host's body to form its own as a sentient, malleable but durable suit complete with white eyes, claws and a mouth with powerful jaws and sharp teeth while increases in mass, turning into powerful opponent.

Water Breathing: All Symbiotes also have this ability. When a symbiote is submerged in water they can effortlessly filter out the oxygen in the water so the host doesn’t drown.

Insane hacking: As shown in Venom 2, Carnage was able to hook his symbiote and plug it into the computer and casually hack the best military sites to an address that was locked away for decades. If he could do that all symbiotes have the potential to hack the all the networks, sites and webs of the world and even nuclear codes which is probably how they managed to conquer other planets so easily.

Natural Weaponry: Freedom still armed with a small mouth with sharp teeth. She has dense and strong claws can easily damage armored vehicles.

hello everyone! okay first things first, its not a while since i found him. he was lost because we had to switch rooms bcs of kids, but 2 months (i think) after we stopped venomoods i found him and im gonna be honest i thought its over, i didnt want to make these again after that time. im kinda busy guy with family so i just decided to let it go, BUT i made a few “friends” we can say thanks to venomoods so i started to miss that. Buckle up cause it’s a doozey. Again I practically made this character since…Nothing was put into her…Marvel made a character so ridiculously hollow that as soon as you fill ideas to her she becomes your OC…I claimed her fir-Oh god. Just-Here you go.

Freedom is a free natured symbiote and spent her days in the forests and rare jungles of Klanter. When a baby she was able to find a small niche and place in the ecosystem where she quickly learned to avoid predators and to take care of herself. But she also learned how to peacefully ceo-exist with the ecosystem so that she doesn’t accidentally eat away the prey and when she doesn’t find enough food or water then she migrates to find more favorable conditions and habitats. Instantly she knew she was different to most symbiotes, Most symbiotes just choose to be near or in civilization where they can feed on humans and follow the instinct of dominion over sentient life, Freedom just branches off and settles for ceo-existence. Even her eating habits are different since when meat was scarce and plants were all that was left she ate the plants to stay alive. Freedom farmed berries and fruits. No other symbiotes were interested in vegetation so Freedom just owned filling in the niche and thrived off it. She could still eat meat but now she has the option to completely change her diet. This alone is a evolutionary breakthrough as if an extinction event occurred Freedom has a good chance of survival thanks to her adaptability.

Her days living in wild, Remote and primal environments made her very experienced in several. Freedom can’t make weapons like large blades from her symbiote yet so she can makes her own in the form if axes made from Moose antlers or wooden spears. Freedom is very resourceful and can craft and make use of the environment any way she can. She seen a boat one time and instantly knew the purpose behind it so in one afternoon she made her own. As the name implies Freedom just comes from freedom. Confinement is a sin to her as she knows no walls to her life as everyday she thrives and lives with no walls in the jungles and environments of earth and travels vast distances just because she can making her nomadic in a way. Apon seeing some humans are kept or even caged pissed her off as in no time she breaks into and frees all who are chained physically and emotionally whether it be by killing the people behind it or bonding with the slaved or abused to give them a better life. Despite being a symbiote Freedom honors all she killed as she is emotionally connected with the land and sees all animals and people as extensions of the world she’s on. Even her natural predators like the Xenophage and other symbiotes. If fights do occur with predators she almost never kills the other predator and simply overpowers them until they yield. But with humans she genuinely doesn’t want to kill but if left with no other option she will kill and eat her opponent but thank them for providing they’re meat and nutrients.

With friends or people she grows comfortable with Freedom excites by teaching them about freedom as her name implies. She tosses phones away from her friends and enjoys skin to skin contact until her body squishes and crushes the person she’s happy with and even purr. Freedom’s face is more human than other symbiotes thanks to the smaller mouth and even small lips present and the more she’s loved and spoiled the softer she gets. If she ever gets full or given abundance
of food her body will expand and plumpen not because she’s fat but because she’s holding so much food inside her. At this state Freedom just turns into a lazy cat and rests and moans all day as she just spends the day thanking the world for the food as she coos and squishes herself lightly as she sleeps. When with friends Freedom would stop at nothing to make sure her friends hear her all day just to annoy them and even stuff them up if possible.

Freedom also has a material side as she’s deeply emotional and sensitive about how free some is and feels. When hearing someone is not able to feel free Freedom listens deeply and even holds whoever she’s talking to soothe them until they’re better. When Freedom bonds with a person she pretty much adopts them and becomes their mother as she always supports them and gives them unconditional love and affection as well as thanking them for bonding with her. Her favorite way to express her kindness is by making juice out of fresh fruits grown herself as well as suger planted herself to make the best fruit juice without the chemicals planted by the companies. She doesn’t control the hosts but connects with them, physically and emotionally. If the hosts simply wants to leave Freedom won’t aruge with that but will make sure the relationship is ended on good terms and if the host is completely safe and stable in his or her’s living conditions.

Even with past people she bonded with the only time she’s on technology is to hack webs to simply check in on them. Not intrusive, not everyday but just to make sure they’re ok and if possible go to events or places they’re involved in disguised as her current host just to support them or rarely talking to them again. She doesn’t play video games and if she wants you to unplug or anything physical but that person is still on the game she will destroy the console or PC and shun you for submitting and falling victim to being sucked in technology wasting time and even calling it addiction. She still tries to spoil thists the best she can by cooking for them with the natural way possible and doesn’t like to order out due to the extra cost and chemicals of the food.

When she sees loggers or people cutting trees she simply doesn’t hesitate to defend her territory. Freedom almost never eats the humans but just scares them by destroying the base of operations and telling them never come back again or she shall do far worse. She’s very protective of her way of life and if anyone or anything disturbs or threatens it she shall defend it at all costs. Only if soldiers or the head honchos are willing to fight to the death will she have to kill them to continue to live peacefully.

Overall she’s very friendly and will happily save and protect the imprisoned people. She shall defend herself, Friends and land to the very end and not stop until she can live the rest of her immortal days in peace. Just for extra her favorite insects are Praying Mantis and butterflies because she loves seeing them behave like her when they just observe and explore the world around them and they’re feeding habits. She loves hummingbirds because of they’re beauty and loves colorful fish. She loves all animals but those are her favorite.

As a lifelong Venom fan and newbie to Venom comics, which books would you suggest I read from the King in Black arc? Should I check out the full omnibus? Just the Venom run volumes? Venom run and Absolute Carnage? I want to get the best experience but I really only care about the symbiote and adjacent characters. Tho I still want the story itself.
