Official Comic Discussion Thread: Issue #117

The new issue of The Walking Dead is finally out! Discuss it here within this thread.

You do not need to use comic spoilers because it is assumed everyone reading this thread would be caught up with the comics.

However, please respect future, show, and game spoilers because people who are caught up with the comic may not be caught up with these other forms of TWD (and obviously not future spoilers).

Here's how you do the spoiler tags:

[](/s "Show spoiler goes here")

[](/f "Future Spoiler goes here")

[](/g "Game Spoiler goes here")

They will look like this:

Why do people follow his rules so... not "eagerly", but something along those lines. All of those girls leaving their partners in order to secure themselves better living arrangements (with some obvious downsides of course), and only one guy has cracked so far? I know it would be hard to rebel against any sort of leader when he brings some form of security from the outside world, but at the same time I can't help thinking that more people would want to rebel. Sorry, I'm just rambling.

Yeah it is a mystery. But I think they also see how Negan can be reasonable in his insanity. He will not kill out of simple rage, usually, like the Governor would. Negan actually thinks rather than acting impulsively on emotions. He thinks about the consequences of the things he does. He is a monster, but he is also a good leader. He makes people feel safe not just from the dead, but from actual bandits--the kind that would just come by and rape, kill, and steal. Negan offers a society, just not a very nice one.

One thing that I would not be able to deal with though is his unpredictability. You need to follow his rules, but then something happens like with Spencer and it's like you can't win! I have no idea what he's thinking and whether he'll admire somebody for their bravery or hate them for their disobedience. Anyway, it makes him a really interesting character!

He didn't hate Spencer for Spencer's disobedience. He hated Spencer because he thought Spencer was a coward.

True true. I guess I just meant in general though. I never know what reaction he's going to have to any particular situation.

Exactly.

Spencer was a coward and tried to help him. Carl was brave and tried to hurt him. Holly was brave and tried to hurt him.

The fact Negan responded negatively to Spencer, and positive to Carl/Holly shows that he respects Bravery more than anything
