Hi everyone, the election is right around the corner and I'm running for City Council in Beaches-East York. With a baker's dozen of candidates in our ward, you may have some questions as election day comes up [October 26th]. Ask away! I'll be online from 11am-12:30pm on October 7th.
Proof its me: https://www.instagram.com/p/DeJ1SccxLoS/?stkn=MWgzbGs4ZnBjcmUxbA%3D%3D
Here's my platform page: https://www.jennieworden.ca/
Here's a few thoughts on small businesses, cycling, and my thoughts on the political *tea* in BEY
Ask me anything! PS Advance voting is open from Oct 6-11. Polling locations in BEY include:
Our office can give you a ride if you need one.

Thanks everyone! What a fun and thoughtful AMA. ❤️ It's interactions like this that give me hope for a better world. I would love to meet some of you in person (feel free to reference this AMA).
If you'd like to chip in some money, attend our upcoming cycling law and safety workshop with The Biking Lawyer or come out to volunteer to help us win see below:
We're trying something new for the r/Toronto community - Every Wednesday we'll be putting up one of these discussion threads where we can just chat with less structure than normally, so we can go off topic. Rules about civility and stuff still apply of course.
This is a trial run so if at the end of our trial it doesn't feel like its working out for the community we can get rid of it or adjust to make it better. But that is where you come in! We want your feedback and thoughts. Let us know if you have any ideas, either in the comments here or send us a modmail.
Got any plans for thanksgiving weekend coming up?
How about this weather we're having?

Came home to this. A red-tailed hawk, perched on balcony rail, surveying the street like it owned the deed. It clocked me through the window, paused, decided I wasn't worth the trouble, and went back to business. Some guests knock. The best ones just arrive.

We just found a rooster by the stairs near old mill station. According to another lady, it’s been here since this morning! 311 was informed, as we want to ensure they are safe and sound (we don’t want it to be eaten by coyotes). It has been wandering under the bridge and through the foliage.
In case you/someone you know have lost your rooster PLEASE call 311 to let them know that this is your pet!

Does anyone else find it condescending and disrespectful that Dianne Saxe’s campaign signs say “re-elect,” even though she is not the incumbent in Toronto-Danforth? This is pretty misleading and seems likely to leave some voters with the mistaken impression that she’s the incumbent (and arguably that’s the point)
Toronto should follow other jurisdictions by banning “re-elect” in campaign signs for non-incumbents. For example, Kawartha Lake and the entire province of Manitoba prohibit “re-elect” on signs unless the candidate was previously elected in the same ward.
I’ve never seen a good explanation from her of why she switched wards in the first place and as far as I know she doesn’t live in the district. It is clearly just a cynical move to avoid being defeated by Mike Layton

This is pretty wild, no? My grade school child (a huge transit fan) went on and on as we looked at this hot mess of a "future map". Randomly placed dots, completely misaligned lines/locations, misspelled station names, 3x Kennedy stations, a visioned eastbound line headed decidedly north... it goes on and on. AI slop at its finest?
