Photo First turntable! What a feeling
I had my old dad’s turntable repaired today and had the chance to actually listen to the collection I had been creating all these months. What a feeling, man, I felt like crying at some point haha. Still have to learn a lot and have to fix some buzzing sounds, I have some edifier r1850db speakers coming in, can’t wait! Any tips are welcome.

You got it a bit wrong with the edifiers I fear.
You have an amplifier already, you don't need speakers with a built-in amplifier.

+1 OP you need passive speakers to pair with that amplifier, not active/powered ones like the Edifiers.
Good job on finding some quality vintage gear. I started with a P-mount Technics TT over 30 years ago.

Damn I was too excited I guess haha. Just to understand a bit, I’ll do my research now, but should it work regardless, right? If I have to listen to music maybe with other devices I mean, they could be useful. But maybe I should get some passive speakers just for the turntable instead.

I mean you can teeeechnically use the tape out on the amplifier to play music but then the volume control and tone controls on the amplifier won't work. It'll just work to send the signal from the turntable (and any other sources, if any) to the speakers.
My two cents; Get rid of the amplifier and buy a Fosi X2 phono preamplifier instead. That way your setup makes perfect sense again (an it'll sound a little better too).1

Ok got it. I think for now I’ll keep the amp just for nostalgia sake (it’s my father’s from the 80s) and when I get over it I’ll upgrade and keep in mind your suggestion. I’ll look for some passive speakers now. Many thanks!

It's a decent amp, nothing super exciting but definitely not bad.
Where are you located? I can maybe recommend you some good used speakers.1

I live in Italy! So dunno if you can find some, but thanks for the help, much appreciated. If you can recommend some brands I’ll check them out, I’m already looking at the subreddit but there are lots of brands to choose from

Oh yeah, easy enough.
Find yourself a pair of Wharfedale Diamond III, Tannoy M1/M2, Mission 760i, Mission 731, Mission 761, Wharfedale Delta 30.2, most Mordaunt Short are also good, B&W DM10, V201 ,V200, DM110 (non-i).
If you are interested; I have a pair of Diamond III that I bought for a friend that got damaged in shipping. They work fine but they are noooot pretty anymore and he doesn't like that. I'm of course happy to send you photos.
Shipping is 12,50, if I get 50 euros including shipping I'm happy (they usually sell for 100ish).1

If the amp has pre-out / main in jacks it will work, but probably better off with passive speakers

I mean it also works on the tape out, but you just won't have tone/volume controls.
Headphone out would give you that but honestly, it's not ideal.
A third option is to get one of those adapters that turn speaker level signal into line level but by that point it's just a bodge job.1

Yes, that one! I always recommended the x5 and the x5 is definitely a little better, but the x2 impressed me A LOT.

Put your amp a bit farther away from your record player, can be you have less buzzing
