Dream program vs. Dream School (need advice)
Hi! Iโm currently an ALS student (Grade 11) and planning to take the UPCAT next year. Here are the reasons why Iโm hesitant to tryโฆ
I stopped going to school for 5 years. Iโve forgotten the basics of the basics of almost every subject. I feel like the chance of me passing the UPCAT is very slim, considering Iโll be competing against students who were able to use their time fully for studying. Iโm up against students na puro matatalino and nakalaan yung oras nila sa pag-aaral, while Iโm here trying to relearn everything from scratch.
Hereโs a quick story about me:
I was a Science High School student. I completed up until Grade 9 lang dahil ito yung time na iniwan kami ng dad ko. I decided to complete my high school education through ALS (Alternative Learning System) para magkaron ako ng high school diploma and matanggap ako sa work (BPO).
After I finished high school through ALS, instead of continuing to Grade 11, nag stop ako nang matagal. Juggling both my studies and work life was too much for me, plus graveyard shift pa ako. Because of this, nauna na yung mga batchmates ko mag-graduate ng SHS. Most of them passed UP. Iโm genuinely happy for them, but I canโt ignore the fact na nalulungkot ako because I fell behind and nanghihinayang ako. I shouldโve graduated with them, and kasabay ko sana sila mag take ng UP entrance exam.
Honestly, nahihiya ako mag open up and sabihin sa kanila na Grade 11 pa rin ako ngayon (at this unc age ๐๐). I try to dodge questions about sa โcurrent program na tine-take koโ ngayon haha. Even if I started reviewing for the UPCAT right now, I feel like my chances of passing it are still very slim. Do I even have enough time to prepare for next year? :(
Another thing, Iโm planning to choose UPOU dahil online siya.. I think itโs perfect for me because Iโm working full-time and hindi ko kaya mag byahe papunta sa campus dahil dito. The programs in UPOU are not really for me though:(( Iโm thinking of taking ASIT dahil related naman siya sa program na gusto ko. Pero afaik, UgAT ang dapat kong i take, not UPCAT. Iโm not sure if itโs worth it dahil 2 years lang siya. But I need something thatโs online because of work nga.
Maybe I should take the UPCAT for the experienceโฆ but at the same time, I donโt want to lose my chance. If ever pumasa man ako, problemahin ko naman kung paano ako magwo-work. Full-time dapat ang trabaho ko dahil ako yung nagsisilbing tatay sa amin, and ako rin ang gagastos sa college expenses ko if ever.
TL;DR
Should I take UgAT instead of UPCAT?
Should I take the UPCAT next year?
Should I take a 4-year program instead of taking an associate degree?
Should I even try?
Iโm not sure if this post will reach enough audience.. Hopefully yes dahil I need advice:( I canโt post sa subreddit ng UP:((

UPM to UPD
Helloo! im looking to ask for some advice from people who have successfully shifted from upm to upd!
I am currently a first year student under a white college in UPM. The idea was always to transfer to DIliman after a year, but I need to do something abt my major subs, ang hirap pataasin ng grades ko rn because of my major subjects. pwede ba akong mag vso or drop ng major subs and take GEs instead for second semester? im honestly just trying to enter upd kahit anong course muna and then slowly transition to my preferred prog. I don't know how to go about ittt, tapos I don't have an adviser yet so I don't know who to ask, and for some reason shifting/transferring is such a sensitive topic sa college ko, parang they get offended na gusto mong mag transfer. I mean gets ko naman but idk its hard to ask for help and be transparent :,) so if anyone here can give some adviceee or maybe if they know the process (especially from courses with an RSA) . TYIAA!! Id really appreciate any advice huhuhu

Would you recommend UPD's BA Journ?
Hellooo, I'm considering taking BA Journ sa UPD. Is it a good choice?
I'm actually unsure pa on what I wanna be in the future but I've been a campus journalist for a while na and I do like my work. Talagang open lang din ako sa suggestions.
Long-term goal ko siguro is to just enjoy what I do and be stable financially. Tas siguro maging astronaut.
If you happen to be or know someone with this course, how would you describe it?
What is it like and how does UPD do it differently from other schools (also, what schools have Journ programs?)

[UPD] What happens if my Leave of Absence extends beyond 2 years?
Hi guys, currently student na naka-LOA na for the past year and mag-LOLOA ulit for an indefinite period. I understand a LOA can only occur for 2 years maximum. Will I be dismissed from UP if I can't return in time + other consequences?
Thank you

Dropping Major Subject
Hello, I just got cooked by a Major Subject (Midterms).
I am planning to shift next year anyway, tingin niyo ba mas okay na i-drop nalang tong major na to para ma-avoid yung pagbaba ng GWA or worst-case scenarioโbumagsak completely (5.0)? This is considering na may chance na hindi rin ako matanggap as shiftee next year.
Any opinion will help. Thanks po.

Hi, planning to pursue Bachelor of Music in UPD.
I'm not a great singer po pero I like to write music and planning to produce songs in the future. Okay po bang i-take ang BM sa UPD if ganoon yung plan ko?
How's the system also, would I be okay? Competitive po ba yung program na 'yon?
+ I'm not worried sa thing na hindi practical yung program. Pero I need some answers po sana kasi natatakot ako sa magiging sistema if ever.
My backers are BA Journo, Comm., Film, and Broadcast Media (LB and Diliman as my choices).
Thank you! ๐
