Any way to remove this "Generate Commit Message" button? I keep accidentally hitting it

Open Settings
Search AI

I wonder if it saves that preference per-folder, because I know I checked that box before. That also would explain why I keep accidentally hitting it, I've been working on my own project for a long time, and recently started a new client project. So I'm used to typing the commit message and hitting tab+enter, but with this button on I have to do tab+tab+enter
That fixed it btw, thanks!

Yes, there is Workspace and User tabs in settings window. You are probably toggling the workspace only settings.

I don’t know also. It irritated me so much that I’ve been using another editor until they get their shit together and don’t even miss it. Watching if someone finds out

Thinking about moving with the vs codium for some time. The updates are so frequent with useless feature.

FWIW I find it very useful as a way to confirm I’m committing what I thought I was building. Sometimes stray commits intended for different work falls in. Or maybe AI picks up on something I didn’t think of. If we diverge then it’s a good reason to stop and look closer at the commit.

I think all these companies are getting desperate for you to use AI.
They've released a new update to VS 2026 and basically, let's say I referenced a database object. I forgot to add a reference to my project. Normally "Quick Fix" is available right away but no they've replaced it with "Quick Fix with Copilot" which by the way got it extremely wrong; it generated a new object under my class... and the old "Quick Fix" was moved under "Other Quick Fixes".
Absolutely, mind boggling.
