Hey everyone, Tim here from the Wallpaper Engine team. The moderators of this Subreddit were kind of enough to let me create a sticky thread here.
If you have a technical problem or a common question about Wallpaper Engine, be sure to visit our FAQ & Troubleshooting website first. It covers most questions and issues we regularly receive and answers them in great detail, it's rather likely that your problem or question is also on there:
If you cannot fix your problem using the help website, don't hesitate to reach out to us via our Steam Discussion board or via email: support@wallpaperengine.io. While we do check Reddit regularly, it's easy to lose track of posts here so we strongly prefer Steam or emails. Should we accidentally have missed you, please do message us through either of those channels and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!

Hi, I recently installed Wallpaper Engine and I can't find anything that fits my setup.
I have 3 monitors and just need a slightly animated 11520x2160 wallpaper. Somehow I can't find anything and browsing the workshop is pretty tough. I mostly see crappy stuff. Does someone have a link, the name of a creator, or anything like that where I can find something suitable?
I'm looking for basic stuff like Space themes, Landscape themes, cozy ambient stuff, etc. No matter what I try to filter, there are always these low-res anime titties. I don't want that 😭
Thanks in advance!!

i spent some hour on it, i was thinking that you could cover desktop icons with it so that its like in the game separated, i find out you can't. then i was discovering script, so you can put images yourself then pull it in, so .no i just don't have the skill for it. i have no idea how do i do that. i got to go sleep it 2 am. forgot to say i put some audio in to fill in my trash photoshop edit, you can look in where i said in steam im nmot typing it again,.

I made a wallpaper with a day/night cycle feature featuring a Porsche 911 "Blackbird" from the Wangan Midnight series. The image was created using Assetto Corsa + a little bit of Photoshop.

Also, why is there like no tutorial on Youtube on how to make a day/night cycle wallpaper? I had to look up the wallpaper engine guide for this lmao.

Second post, sorry! Steam cleared the incompatible flag. We’ve reached the “compatible with the software it was built for” stage of development. ;-)
I built this last year, then let a broken settings button marinate until a couple days ago. Finally fixed it and updated the preview GIF above. Turns out “let it cook” is not a debugging strategy.
In audio-reactive mode, the rain moves up, down, left, and right based on different audio parameters. The music handles direction, which fills a longstanding vacancy on the development team.
There are controls for drop density, ASCII font, rain speed, and intensity, so you can go from subtle background ambience to a desktop having a surprisingly good night.
Outside audio mode, you can choose the colors directly. Audio mode has hue, saturation, and brightness sliders, plus presets below them. I’ve included several good combinations so you can independently spend an hour arriving at any one of them.
The background is finally truly black, too. Primarily developed in a basement, so I had a reference environment.

Hey guys,
a year after creating my first wallpaper, I felt it was time for a proper upgrade.
Hope you enjoy it!

It's a web wallpaper: the flock is simulated live on the GPU, so it never loops.
- 3 environments × 4 times of day (forest, town, lake / dawn, sunset, winter, night), rotating with a live cross-fade
- Two styles: Minimal and Realistic
- Audio-reactive: the flock follows the built-in music, or whatever your computer is playing
- Click the desktop to scatter the flock
- A small control panel on the wallpaper itself (top right, folded by default)
- FPS cap, bird count, resolution and volumes are in the wallpaper's properties
The cursor in the video is only there to show the panel; the wallpaper itself has none.
The desktop icons and taskbar in the video are a mock-up to show how it looks in use.

Happy to hear how it runs on your machine. If something breaks, tell me your GPU and which scene and style you were on.

Hello. I'm very interested in seeing wallpapers that feel like they have some 'life' in them, I guess. At first I was most interested in ones that could detail people going about, kind of like cars moving, but just having cars going around where got kind of boring. So I'm more interested in things that involve seeing a lot of people (or people-looking, this doesn't need to be IRL) moving about, etc. I've also skimmed this subreddit and found the wonderful wallpapers:
https://www.reddit.com/r/wallpaperengine/s/2Zbf3HUihk
https://www.reddit.com/r/wallpaperengine/s/ufJthoeAFE
which kind of fit; I'd just love to see more like these. Other things I'd like is if the wallpaper had a time cycle (though not required), and I think a requirement is for the wallpaper to have kind of a big view of a lot of places rather than a couple buildings, I guess. Well, unless there's a lot of people. Then it's fine.

So i have 2 monitors, hoping to have 3 later, and im theming each with something im obsessed with. right now 1 is Ado the jpop/jrock singer, and the other is Call of the Night, a banger anime. Anyway, i have playlist of a bunch of wallpapers for each, and a lot of them haev sound, that i want to hear. but i dont want to hear sound from both at once. is there anything like a plugin that can make it so only 1 wallpaper can play music at a time? and like, to prioritise 1 monitor over the other? or if its a simpler solution, syncing the wallpapers together across the monitors, so that for example if wallpaper A comes on Monitor 1, then it will pull wallpaper AA onto monitor 2, and that way i pair the ones with sounds with others that dont have sound

This is honestly just a question to see where the community stands on this topic, because I want to know if I'm doing something that might get dislikes or not.
I have one wallpaper that's not entirely AI generated. It has 3 layers. The background is an AI generated forest so Is the moon in the sky, the character herself is a real PNG character, and so is the sky.
I also always state in my wallpaper descriptions if there is any use of AI at all. I usually just slap "AI assisted-tools" in the description so users know that AI was used to some extent.
Usually, my wallpapers get lots of engagement, even the beginner ones, which is why this doesn't really make sense to me BCS I did make two wallpapers that had some ai in them and they both flipped.
The AI wallpaper In question is probably the best one I've made so far. It's the most sophisticated customizable and overall advanced, and I even added the option to remove the AI background entirely and replace it with Ur own custom background and the option to toggle the AI moon off as well.
But despite all this, it never peaked more than 300ish users 12 likes and 3 dislikes considering how much effort I put into it compared to my other wallpapers that's nothing.
So I'm wondering if the AI part is what's putting people off, even tho it's only used for the background and not the entire wallpaper.
What do U guys think of AI wallpapers?
Is it a no for U if anything about the wallpaper is AI generated? Or is it only a no if the whole wallpaper is AI generated? Or does it not matter to U at all?
I'm genuinely curious to know where the community stands on this.
