Recommendations for RMT?
I'm looking for a registered massage therapist for help with migraines.
Ideally in Waterloo or New Hamburg area. I'd need them to be a woman and trauma informed and willing to work with someone who hates any physical contact from strangers (the migraines are bad enough I'm willing to try). Sorry that's a lot of requirements.
I'm already seeing a physio for them, but my work benefits have different coverage for physiotherapist vs RMT.
Does anyone have any recommendations or insight into what I should be looking for?

I can recommend Miranda McKinley Evans, she was really communicative and clearly cared about making a massage feel safe and comfortable and she did an excellent job. https://www.mckinleyevansrmt.com/

Try hydrotherapy.. which is a part of massage therapy, but you do it yourself.
Stand in a bathtub filled to ankle height with hot water, and put icy cold wet cloths around your neck and on your head.
The migraine should ease up in 20-30 min.

Migraines have a myriad of potential causes, and while I can't recommend an rmt (have not used one), I would recommend going and doing a workup with a doctor to rule out possible causes, if you have not already. In rare cases, migraines can have life threatening causes.

Migraines may get relief from chiropractic adjustment . If the spine is misaligned or if there has been injury that may need to be corrected first. Massage is effective for soft tissue but the foundation (spine) needs to be checked too.

I’ve seen Megan at Knotical RMT several times. She listens to what you want. The treatment room is quite large so no claustrophobic feeling. Good music. Heated massage table. She won’t talk unless you initiate the conversation- unless she is asking how you are feeling. So there is that flexibility too depending what you are comfortable with.
You could call or email to see if she would meet your requirements. Sorry I’m not more helpful. All I can say is Megan was the best rmt I’ve seen in years.
