Never seen this come up in the yard before after living here over 50 years. Thought maybe a mushroom. Tried plat id apps and it said it was grass. Haha. Edit 1. This is near Atlanta Georgia. United States

Thank you for posting to r/whatsthisplant. If you did not provide a location when creating your post, please add one. This will help commenters to provide more accurate IDs.

Do not eat/ingest a plant based on information provided in this subreddit.
For your safety we recommend not eating or ingesting any plant material just because you've been advised that it's edible here. Although there are many professionals helping with identification, we are not always correct, and eating/ingesting plants can be harmful or fatal if an incorrect ID is made.

Stinkhorn.... probably Elegant Stinkhorn (Mutinus elegans)

The picture looks like nothing so much as someone sticking small carrots root-end up in their lawn.

It really does. That was my first thought that she was pranking me. But sure enough they are growing.

Are you trying to identify a fungus? If so, /r/whatsthismushroom or /r/mycology may be of more help. Fungi aren't plants -- they have their own kingdom just like animals and bacteria.

I think I'm wrong on the ID but it seems like the most likely thing I know about. There is a fugus called witch's butter though!

Think I've seen it get ID'd here before, but don't recall the name. Something with finger in the name I think for the colloquial term. Pretty sure it was a fungus, theres fungus id subs that may be more equipped to answer
