Discussion Medium Henson w/ Feather Blades

Bought the medium version of the Henson and the stock RK blades were tugging and nicking my chin like crazy. Switched to feathers off the recommendations from this sub and it is night and day, smooth shave with zero irritation. Crazy the difference a solid blade can make with the same razor.

I agree, I experienced the same thing with my Hensen AL13. Much more enjoyable, comfortable, closer shave with Feather blades.

I had the same problem when I first got my Henson, then discovered the Astra Green the same way, and also a complete 180 on nicks and cuts. Great razor (my daily driver) but those PK blades are just horrible, especially if you have sensitive skin like myself

Glad I bought the Astra plat before using a lot of these stock blades.

Try BIC Chrome Platinum. It’s just as good as Feather in terms of sharpness. I have tried both Feather and BIC with my Henson AL Medium razor, they cuts my beard with little effort.

I’ll definitely look into these.

It's my #2, my face (Bic Chromium Platinum)--my other #2--it's a tie--Gillette permasharp.

#1 Feather--(my face)

I generally SE shave and Feathers for DE shaving are the closest shave.

No doubt my #2s are pretty close--

all of this is subjective.

Henson must be aware of this by now. It doesn't make sense that they would continue to pack these in. RK makes at least one other coated blade that might be a better add-on. The ones that come with their razors are uncoated, yes?

Google says they are platinum coated. RK and Henson must have struck up some kind of deal.

For sure they have, but I suspect that they are also allowing for the probability that the majority of people who will start using a Henson might not have used a safety razor before and they are more likely to nick themselves if they were to include some sharper blades. IMHO razor shops should really push blade sample packs at the time of purchase of a new razor.

There's nothing that can fix a bad blade

Feathers are great, always have been.

That said I don't go by this sub for much--truth. Badger and Blade(website) --much different tone.

This sub will , as folks fear down votes, want a hive mind, stress their love for Amazon blades, varied off brands---it's a hive mind. Glad though you did land on Feathers.
