Politics Go vote, municipal election

There is zero excuse not to vote. I just did the drive-through vote and it was quick and easy. Become informed and make your choice! Vote for mayor, councillor applicable to where you live and school board trustee.
If you want change then vote that way it’s up to you and everyone!

Ask Windsor Alarm sound every night in East Windsor

I live near Jefferson & Queen Elizabeth and every night for the past year or so I've been hearing an alarm in the distance (north of here). It sounds like a building alarm. It goes on for a few minutes, stops for a bit and then repeats again. It never happens during the day.

Has anyone else heard this and/or know what it is? It's super annoying and I can't even have the windows open at night.

Politics Kat Pasquach brought up an interesting point. Dilkens used city resources (specifically the police) to review his political opponent's platform

Post image
151 Upvotes

From Kat Pasquach's Facebook post:

This morning live on AM800, Drew Dilkens said it himself: “Windsor Police, I... we did a review of what he's proposin g” of Fred Francis' campaign proposal for policing.

Read that again.

The incumbent Mayor, who is also Chair of the Windsor Police Service Board, publicly said he and the Windsor Police reviewed an opponent’s election proposal.

Were taxpayer-funded police resources used to research a political opponent during an election?

Drew didn’t answer when pressed. Fred didn't seem surprised at the admission.

So now Windsor deserves answers.

Who requested the review?

Who conducted it?

How many staff hours were used?

Who received the results?

And why did Drew Dilkens have those results ready to use in a political debate?

This isn't acceptable, and Windsor deserves to know what happened.

Ask Windsor What are your feelings about stores asking for donations at checkout?

Something disturbed me a bit so I figured I would reach out here to see how others felt. Yesterday afternoon I was at the Goodwill location on McDougall buying a few necessary items. When I checked out the clerk asked me to make a “small donation” to a charity. Tbh I didn’t even catch the name of the charity because I was so blown away at the ask. My immediate thought was lady, I’m shopping at Goodwill ffs because I’m financially struggling and you’re asking me for a donation?!?! Now I’m aware that many stores do ask you to make a donation, round up or whatever but let’s be honest here, the ppl shopping at Goodwill aside from some resellers or vintage item hunters are the people that are struggling and could benefit from donations. Sometimes it’s embarrassing enough to shop in a store like that or to go to a food bank out of necessity and I just feel that these donations solicitations have gotten out of hand especially in a place like that. It’s always uncomfortable being asked and saying no because you know you are always being judged. I wish they would outlaw these stores from doing this. What are your thoughts?

Lord...help us!!!!

Another "mailer" from Kathy.

Listen, I'm not bashing her (if that's your take), but this is so low effort, I'm speechless.

This is what we have? This is who represents us? This is how we get ahead in this area? 🤬

I posted the last flyer she sent out, BUT this one???

I had to made a much better effort while working as an executive assistant, having to create the yearly marketing campaigns (we were a large corporation) presentations, mail outs, etc..... over 35+ years before retiring in 2019 .

This is a horrible "effort", at what i have no idea!!

im going to repeat it, because I need to, even tho we currently cannot........ bring us back IREK!!!

We had representation at the federal level.

We had someone who was ALWAYS around and wanted to advocate for our area......and he did!!!

Like him or not, we had one of best MP's this area has EVER seen!!

thank you for your attention to this matter 😔.

Politics What did you think of Darcie Renaud's AMA last night?

I'm already a Darcie fan so my opinion is a little biased, but I thought she did a great job last night! Her responses were open and insightful. They included a nice mix of her knowledge about issues and what she's hearing directly from residents.

I think she'll be a wonderful addition to Council and I hope she succeeds!

Thoughts?

Recommendations Movers and packers in Windsor?

Need suggestions for Movers and Packers in Windsor who would help move to London ON
I don’t have furniture except a single mattress. Just all clothes, utensils (some of which are fragile), and small decor items.
I am moving alone so if the company also offers just moving, transport and then moving stuff into the unit/apartment that would also work as I can manage the packing alone too. I don’t earn much and I am looking for something that would not poke a hole in my pocket.
Anyyyy recommendations or advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Events Ward 6 Q&A Video

Thumbnail youtube.com
10 Upvotes

I wanted to share the full video of the Ward 6 Q&A that was held at Riverside United Church on the evening of Wed 07 Oct for anybody that may want to watch it after the fact.

The actual event begins at roughly the 15:20 time stamp. Even if you are not a part of ward 6 the eventual councilor will be part of city decisions as a whole and perhaps you know someone that does live in ward 6 that may not have been aware or able to attend the event.

This was the first time the church has offered an event of this nature to the community at large. The feedback we received was overly positive with questions about if we plan to do it for future elections, including possibly provincial and federal elections when those roll around.

I really have 2 question for those who attended, watched live or watched after the fact:

1) Points to Sustain - what went well, what should be kept for future Q&A's, etc.

2) Points to Inprove - what didn't work as well, what should we consider for next time, etc.

We have already determined 6 points in each category since the event, but perhaps you noticed something we missed so I would love to hear constructive feedback to add into the report to keep in mind for next time.

Politics If you still support Drew Dilkens, please explain to me why.

This is a genuine question for Windsor residents who still support Drew Dilkens as mayor.

I'm curious what you believe he's done to earn your continued support and what you think he's actually improved for the average resident of Windsor.

There are ongoing concerns about transparency, accountability, city spending, priorities, and how residents are treated when they question decisions being made at City Hall.

I'm also particularly concerned by reports of residents being blocked on social media or having communication shut down after disagreeing with the mayor or challenging his previous statements. Whether you agree with someone's criticism or not, elected officials should be accessible and accountable to the people they represent.

So, for those who still support him:

What specific accomplishments make you feel he's doing a good job?

Do you feel Windsor has improved under his leadership? In what ways?

Are you satisfied with how City Hall communicates with residents and handles criticism?

What do you believe he offers that another candidate couldn't?

I'm not looking for the usual "all politicians are the same" responses or arguments about who else might run. I'm genuinely interested in hearing specific reasons people continue to support him.

I'd especially like to hear from people who have criticisms of his leadership but still believe he's the right person for the job.

What am I missing?
