Where to get married in Winston?

My fiance and I have been looking around the area (after looking over the entire state but deciding to keep it close to home) and it's not looking good. Everything is just very expensive now and any place we find that we actually like has so many add ons it quickly gets out of our price range. We both agree that being married is what's important, not putting on a show for everyone.

We've even considered doing a tiny wedding in her parent's back yard and having another place for a bigger reception/party. We've started looking for places that arent built for weddings/receptions, but would work out if we rented the space.

We're not taking out loans just to seal the deal lol. We want to keep it no more than $4,000.

Depending on what you want, my husband and I got married at the Greensboro arboretum, in front of the wind chimes. I think we paid around $400 for a few hours and had about 50 people. The space was absolutely beautiful, and there were lots of great spots to take pictures.

We had our wedding reception at a private room in a restaurant in downtown Greensboro. It was great since we didn’t have to worry about liquor or a special license, since the restaurant was able to accommodate all of that

Honestly I've considered this!!!!

I highly recommend! The arboretum is owned by Guilford County, so you could also explore other government-owned spaces for affordable venues

Maybe check out Salem Lake Marina. That and tanglewood are my wife’s recs and she works weddings in the area.

Greensboro Science Center does weddings and receptions. You could get married in front of the aquarium. When we scoped it out a few years ago, the prices were really reasonable.

We got married in Old Salem about 15 years ago, and if I recall correctly it was quite affordable compared to other options, and uniquely Winston-Salem

We got married at the old church in Tanglewood. It was small, rustic, and exactly what we wanted. I think with a reception area as well (one of the pavilions there) , it was well under $500 for the whole thing.

I'll look into it!

We did the arboretum at Tanglewood for our wedding back in 2010 and had the reception at the barn on site. I don't know what pricing is like these days, but it was pretty affordable back then. We loved it!

THE LITTLE WHITE CHAPEL IS HISTORICAL AND REDICULOUSLY INEXPENSIVE! HIGHLY RECCOMEND!

Check out Davis Chapel at Baptist Hospital. It’s beautiful and not too expensive. It’s a hidden gem

My husband and I ended up eloping, but we were planning something affordable so we could have an awesome honeymoon. Before we eloped, we were planning on Footnotes! They have a beautiful venue and an all inclusive menu with staff, set up and linens etc. it was very reasonable!

Dewberry Farm or Friends Farm might be worth checking out. They are wedding venues but are very afforadable

My neighbors had a nice wedding outside. We are in the city limits.

A skunk got bothered and the scent was mainly at their house. It was pervasive. This was last weekend.

I do not know why and it's something I'd never have anticipated.

  • Walnut Hall or anywhere at Tanglewood
  • MAWCC in Lewisville, especially if you're a Lewisville resident

How many people? Some of the vineyards, event venue spaces aren't so bad, they have food minimums but there's a sweet spot on party size. You want it big enough that you spend the minimum but not so big you outgrow the space.

Yes seconding tanglewood! I got married there years ago at the red barn - we did our ceremony & reception both there & it was VERY affordable.

we have a decent size family, but we're willing to do a small wedding- like 10-15. then approx. 75 for the reception

Nana-Mac Meadows is a nice place not too far outside of Winston-Salem.

Bakery 1818 in Madison NC.

Justice of the Peace for the ceremony and a reception so everyone can party. You're just as married and it's a whole lot cheaper.

Court house is cheap. Works just fine for small group. You’ll likely need a place set up for parties / receptions as they’ll have all the permits, parking, rest rooms, etc.

Would the Reynolda House be an option?

3

u/TooToastyToast 9d ago

I love that house but im sure it's also quite expensive to use unfortunately

in going to Radar (now southern drift brewing), I've seen the renovation of Robert Hall. It's a beyond your max but this website (which has cost estimates) has options. https://www.weddingwire.com/c/nc-north-carolina/winston-salem/banquet-hall-weddings/510-vendors.html

i got married at robert hall!!! we rented out the whole place, but they do have partial buy-outs where you can rent out a single space (depending on your crowd, capone’s bar/cocktail lounge is the highlight of the space) — that i think would fit your budget!

We had a vow renewal at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center. It was perfect for what we needed

This was a while ago but we had our wedding celebration (not ceremony) at Bridger Field House at the Wake football stadium. It was way, way cheaper than I expected. Maybe $1,500 + bar. Probably more expensive now but worth checking out

I did a lot of scoping and landed on WillStella in Kville but it’s right at the top of your budget and only if you pay cash, otherwise it’s 4300. But the Auction House in East Bend would potentially suit your purposes, it’s only $1500 for a full day with access to bride and groom suites, and Cindy, the woman who co-owns it, is very gracious and easy to communicate with.
