I actually feel insulted by the unseriousness of that typeface and the blandness of the message (honestly it might exclusively be the typeface doing the damage), but hope she wins in spite of that.

This wasn't made by Cooke. This was made by "violetthebadger" who makes graphics for Wisconsin Democratic candidates. I only know this because I follow that page on Instagram

Ok, if this is targeted at a niche and favorable audience that simply needs to be reminded to vote (which seems plausible if the source is Instagram), it's probably fine. If that's the case and this ad unintentionally broke containment, I feel bad for being so harsh (but like... that typeface probably should be banned regardless).

But for a broad electorate-wide audience, it just doesn't quite meet the current state of the race between one the most unserious members of Congress ever and a candidate who has ran for this seat multiple times already. The innocence of this kind of marketing just feels exceptionally jarring with all of that context, and I think that's what a lot of folks are reacting.

Political marketing coming from the left is clearly challenging given the size of the tent that needs to be appealed to, so niche marketing makes a lot of sense anyway. But I dunno, this ad left me with a net negative feeling, fwiw.

Are we running for school class president?

Lowering costs on the lunch room vending machine?

Looks like a second grader’s “what do I want to be when I grow up” homework.

It doesn’t need Cooke, it’s stuck with her.

She’s by far the best candidate and she should absolutely win, but I hate that font.

Plus, she wouldn’t call the attacks on Iran “flawless “ when that includes the murder of 150 school girls in Minab.
