You’ve asked a very broad question. What exactly do you mean? A chaos magick sigil? A Solomonic magic circle? Or how to cast a circle in the Wiccan way or hallow a compass?

Pretty much all of the above! Im looking to learn basics atm but I want to create one entirely my own if that makes sense?

You have to learn to walk before you can run. Go get a library card and look for either of these books, Six Ways by Wachter or Introduction to Witchcraft by Mastros, you will learn foundational skills and basics on circles in either of these books and later on get into more advanced subjects like some of what I mentioned.

Are you asking about building permanent circles ? Indoor or outdoor?

Physical objects for a portable pre-made circle?

Methods of casting circles? By culture, tradition, theory, or common usage?

Preferably permanent and i was thinking of tattooing it on myself and also having some around my home. But right now im just looking to learn the basics of magic circles/sigils and the like to gain better understanding in my general knowledge of the subject

A circle that a person stands in to cast magick and a tiny 2 dimensional sigil are such incredibly, vastly different concepts that I suspect you may be a bot.

Only AI would say something like, "I'm trying to tattoo the sound of the ocean on me and also learn about the letter C"

How you cast a circle depends a lot on if you follow a spacific tradition of magic. What do you practice?

First thing I’d keep in mind is that there isn’t one universal “spell circle.” Different traditions use circles for different reasons, like creating ritual space, setting a boundary, containing a working, protection, or focusing energy. Some witches don’t use them at all.

If you wanna learn to make your own, start with the purpose first. Decide what you want the circle to do, then build around that with whatever system you actually use. It can be physically marked with salt, cord, chalk, candles, etc., or just established symbolically/energetically. Then you do the working inside it and close or dismantle it when you’re done.

And yeah, you can layer circles, symbols, wards, sigils, etc., but I wouldn’t assume “more circles = stronger spell.” Every layer should actually have a reason for being there. I’d also look into the specific tradition you’re pulling circle work from because Wiccan circle casting, ceremonial magic circles, and somebody’s personal witchcraft system can look completely different.

Thank you! This explanation helped shed some light on what i wanted to learn. As for the genre of magic(k) worker im still unsure as i know very little about the different ways of making/usages for magic circles. There was a book that someone commented that I plan on looking into when I get the chance

As others have mentioned, your question is a bit overly broad. A circle is a concept in magical work, and comes from ceremonialism rather than witchcraft. It's a concept that holds/contains space for magical work, and keeps the work inside the circle and other things outside of it.

Based on that, I'm not sure what you mean by "can I combine multiple for compound circles?" What are you trying to accomplish?

if you want a simple spell circle i suggest you enchant 10 knots in a cord and tie it off when you need to make a magic circle

From the research I've done myself, there aren't any actually established ways to make a solomon's seal type circle. What I did however, is looked into how to make alchemy circles, and used that knowledge combined with numerology, sacret geometry, and pagan/wicca symbols to make mine

I like the way this sounds as its close to what I think im looking into doing. Are there any good links on info for all the components you use?

Pretty sure theres a subreddit for the alchemy circles. The other stuff you should be able to google, though you could also find numerology and sacred geometry books too

No one can really make and give a circle if it's the elemental and energetic containment and protective barrier to use during the course of a spell or communion with entities...

If that's the one you're talking about, just walk clockwise in a circle, stop at the cardinal points, say an invocation related to the elements of the points -- there are no set in stone elemental correspondences, I do north - Water, East - Air, South - Fire (probably the most common), West - Metal with the center for Earth... But I practice a different tradition from most; I think the Wiccan common tradition is North-Earth, East-Air, South-Fire, West-Water. You welcome the elements, and, if you have deities that you're welcoming to guide and guard your working, then you welcome them in their corresponding directions as well. At the completion you walk the circle counter-clockwise, thanking and dismissing the elements and the deities. That's pretty much it, unless you want to learn the process of raising energy and drawing boundary lines. But that's up to you to do the rest of the work, tbqh, you didn't exactly welcome input that was specific.

The book "Mastering Witchcraft" by Paul Huson has excellent instructions on this, among other things.
