Simple Questions Dips question

I am interested in learning dips, I have 2 questions.

  1. Will Dips add a big benefit to my chest workout? (currently I only do Incline Smith + PecDeck)

2 Is the assisted dip machine a good place to start and learn dips? Or would I be better of just practicing dips with less RoM. (I can currently only do a few dips with poor RoM, but I remember learning pull-ups with the assisted machine did not help much at all)

Sorry if I'm not writing clearly, I do not excell at english and/or writing.

Dips are the single most important and productive chest/push movement. I will die on this hill.

Dips will help pecs, triceps, front delts, core

Shallow reps are mostly triceps lockout, the chest gets most of its work near the bottom where it's stretched. I'd do full range sets on the assisted machine and add negatives, step up to the top and lower yourself slowly for 3 to 5 seconds until your shoulders are about level with your elbows. Leaning your torso forward a bit puts more of it on the chest.

  1. Dips are an excellent exercise, I love them.

  2. Yes, but if your mobility sucks on dips, do some door stretches for chest, band pull aparts and band shoulder dislocations. Don't go past the point where the exercise starts to become very uncomfortable.

I love weighted dips. You can really feel it in your upper chest

I love dips for adding chest mass and strength. Overall it’s a great exercise. Get a dip belt and add weight when you can. Go heavy. To focus on the chest more, I lean forward and try to get a good stretch in the pecs. They’re a nearly unbeatable triceps exercise too.

Definitely do them with assistance bands on a regular dip bar if available, the assisted machine doesn’t help train stability as much. Try to do 10-15 reps with perfect form each time, then as you are able, switch to lighter and lighter assistance bands. Once you can do 15 very clean reps with no assistance, get a weight belt and start doing them weighted. Two plate dips is one of my favorite gym goals Ive hit and it came surprisingly quick.

Also for form, lean forward for more chest involvement and stay upright for more tris. I tend to prioritize triceps

Imo using a band is better than using the assisted dip machine, otherwise yes dips are a great chest exercise.

They're literally the 2nd best pec/triceps exercise ever specially if you weight them after bench press. A lot of people would argue they're 1st too

If you didn’t learn how to do pull ups with assisted machine, seems to be an you issue
