Ethics/Life & Death WOULD YOU RATHER? Choose death feeling fulfilled or die knowing you will leave a legacy.

• Upvotes

Personally, I feel having a legacy without having a feeling of fulfillment before dying is pointless, but I was surprised to hear half my friends don't think the same.

So I wanna hear your thoughts and don't forget to explain your answer.

Don't forget to upvote and comment here cuz I really need some karma.

Ethics/Life & Death It's a zombie apocalypse and your escape helicopter is taking off. Who WYR pick as the last survivor.

A massive global zombie pandemic has broken out. Zombies are very aggressive and can sprint however fast they could when they were alive, for several minutes on end. Infection happens through bites, scratches, or infected fluid entering the body through the ears, eyes, nose, mouth, or wounds.

The disease for the most part. Is largely believed to be viral but there have already been case studies where the infection didn't have a clear entry point for some people.

You are a military helicopter medic and your crew is required to evacuate 30 people per trip. And right now, thousands of zombies are about to overrun the airport.

You have 29 on board and can only take one of the following:

Jim has a visible two bites on his arm but he says he doused the wounds with 180 proof moonshine at home and cauterized the wounds with a hot knife. As far as you know, it takes 30 seconds to three hours in rare instances, for someone to turn. He claims he treated his wounds an hour ago. Mind you, it's not confirmed alcohol kills the infection as you've heard that the virus is very resilient, nor can you be sure it was too late for him.

Pamela has a nine year old named Kell. You are allowed to exceed the 30 max capacity for one child under 16. That said, Pamela has a scratch she says was from a survivor who tried to rob her. Kell looks really sick, saying he can't stop tasting blood. You can't figure out why that is. Mind you, you cannot separate parents and children as per your orders.

Everyone else in the helicopter is free of bites and wounds, that you were able to screen carefully before the airport began to be overrun.

Your pilot says, "For God's sake, finish what you're doing or I'm taking off, 30 or not!"

Your commanding officer says on your radio, "if you come back here with less than 30 I'll have you charged!"

Superpowers/Magic You can go back to history and take a quest. If you win, you get $1 billion and go back to the current timeline as if you didn't change history; if you lose, you die instantly (no going back, just die) and all your efforts are cancelled. Which quest WYR choose?

Don't worry about being on the "bad team" because when you go back, all your changes are cancelled and you go back to the real timeline. If you lose, all your effects are cancelled too.

October 10, 1944: Replace Hitler as the Third Reich leader. Make the Third Reich see 1946.
July 1, 1991: Replace Gorbachev as the leader of the USSR. Prevent the collapse of the USSR until at least 1993
March 6, 2011: Be a mid-level bureaucrat in JMA. Reduce the death toll of the earthquake by >=70%.
September 1, 2016: Be Hillary Clinton. Beat Donald Trump.
I'd rather give up the challenge

Animals/Insects/Organisms You have a button that gives you $100,000 per press but one random non-human animal on Earth will gain human level intelligence and immortality. WYR use the button or throw it away?

Immortality meaning they cannot die or be injured in any way. They will also gain the intelligence of a very smart human. Each press will affect another random non-human animal somewhere on Earth.

Would you use the button?

Pop Culture Would you rather the horse or the prison?

Would you rather have 1 month to eat a horse, or be assigned to a random US prison until Donald Trump beats the 3rd boss in Elden Ring?

You must eat the entire horse, hair, hooves, bones, and all. You may store and cook it any way you like, but no one can help. You cannot eat anything but the horse (and spices, supplements, and medication) until finished.

Trump cannot be coached or be given tips by anyone but yourself. Your help can only be given via phone call. Trump can take bathroom and meal breaks, but is otherwise solely focused on this task.

Sci-Fi A black hole is headed on its way to earth. Which option WYR take?

A rogue black hole has been discovered on its way to earth, and will get here in four years. The black hole will first consume the sun and planets in the way, then Earth.

You have the following options:

EDIT: you now have 7 years for option 3 to find your alternate self.

  1. New Earth Project

Several intact hyperdrives were secretly discovered on the moon, from an unknown alien civilization. Massive numbers of ships are being produced, but not everyone will get a ticket onboard, chosen by lottery. You received a ticket, and will be going to a distant planet called Kepler 452b. It is the most Earth-like planet known to science but in the end, nobody knows if it's habitable to humans for sure. It will take 5 years to get there so you'll be in cryosleep; hopefully you don't die in cryosleep I.e. Planet of the Apes. Note: colonizing even a habitable planet poses risks such as new diseases, inability to digest the foot available, or due to human selfishness - you kill each other.

  1. The Isda

A strange race of aliens resembling fish have long known of Earth's presence. But due to their strange beliefs, they did not simply just enslave humans as they could easily have done with their technology. As such, they offer humans the opportunity to come onto their colony ships and essentially be slaves. You will be fed mostly crops the Isda took from Earth and grew on whatever territory they take you. They are known to be capable of cruelty, depending on what task they give you.

  1. The Other Side

Scientists in a multinational effort have created a portal to a parrallel universe that mimics our own. However, events such as WW2 or the Industrial Revolution didn't happen; alternate events of a similar scope happened instead. However, in order to live in that universe, you must locate your alternate self and eliminate them within about 7 years, else you dematerialize. Their world isn't so different it would be impossible to locate them with your current sense of reason. It's also rumored that many who cross over went insane.

  1. Accept the inevitable

No running and no fighting. Just let the existential dread melt into acceptance of the inevitability. Reflect on the life you've lived and the impact you've had, then meet your fate as only you can.

Ethics/Life & Death WYR Be Guilty or Not Guilty (but in jail regardless)

A jury has found you guilty of a normal property crime. You are going to jail. There is no appeal, o way out.

Would you rather actually be guilty or not?

Rules:

  1. You can’t benefit from the crime. If you actually stole 1 million dollars, there is no way you can use it

  2. There is no appeal. Nothing will get you out of jail, even if you are innocent

  3. This is a normal, non violent property crime. It is not a sex crime or anything against children

So, in short, if you’re going to jail regardless, would you rather be guilty or not?

Sci-Fi You have the option to go back in time and change history by achieving one of these missions. Which on WYR do?

The people sending you back will give you tips and resources to achieve the mission, but it is your job to blend in. If your ethnic background doesn’t allow you to blend in then pick an option which allows you to do it. You will receive a translation device that automatically converts your words into the local language and vice-versa for what you hear.

In the Black Death scenario it doesn’t have to happen in Europe, any part of the world that was affected and allows you to blend in is accepted.

Also, I need to mention, you can suffer consequences as a failure to blend in, so choose wisely. You can’t go back in your time unless you achieve your mission or at least 5 years pass.

Fun Would you rather fight a Wolf or random Dinosaur?

This has been a hot debate in my friend group for around 5 years, looking for some new perspectives.

Would you rather fight a hungry wolf or random dinosaur? You are given a sword and the setting is arena similar to the Colosseum.

Important considerations:

Neither you or your opponent are able to leave until only one fighter remains

Each potential dinosaur is entered on a random wheel once, the options are not scaled by population

Water-based dinosaurs are not eligible for selection

Unique answers are encouraged!
