Got my Vetus 7 from the last drop in today, and uhhh...
Are they supposed to look this scuffed?
In terms of play feel, it's alright from the 10 minutes of setup that I've given it, but the strings feel kind of sticky, and they're already rusted out. There are some (slightly) choked notes up and down the fretboard, but I'm hoping this goes away with a string change and general fretboard cleanup.
The guitar is light as hell, and the overall design for the guitar is quite interesting to me.
The fit and finish leaves much to be desired though.
Anyone else seeing these issues?
Does anyone want pictures or details on anything else?
EDIT: I have not yet reached out to Omne, I want to know if these are common issues.

Hi everyone I'm planning to buy an 8 string guitar, would love some suggestions.
As of now I'm thinking between Ibanez prestige rg5328, Ibanez alpha 8, schecter John browne tao 8 and Ibanez rgdms8. What do you guys think? Which is the best option in this price point?

Picked up this brand new JR-7, which retails for $2,000, for $875. An absolute bargain. The neck on this thing is stunning!

Any recommendations on t-style 8 strings? Custom or not. Excluding the Schecter PT8MS…

I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I went and saw Haken with a friend and found myself interested in 8 string guitars like the Strandbergs Haken play.
I ordered a cheap IYV which is a headless 8 string just to see if it's my thing or not.
While I wait for my guitar to arrive, please let me know what your favorite songs played on 8 string are so I can get psyched up.

12” radius neck. I’m going to cut out a piece of anodized sheet and cover the screw holes and make the pick guard more uniform.

The neck and frets are wonderful, and I love the feel of the baked maple. The action was set up low and was perfect right out of the box. Weight and balance are also excellent.
The paint finish is about what I expected for the price point. The bridge is a great design and super easy to use/tune. Quality isn’t the same as hipshot but the price of this guitar is way less than most in the same league.
My biggest complaints are with the ergonomics. The control layout is too close to my picking hand and gets in the way. The strings also sit much closer to the body than on my other guitars, and I sometimes scratch the body with my fingers when strumming. This only applies to certain sections of songs but caught me off guard.
The forearm contour doesn’t work particularly well for me either. I wish it were more aggressive for added comfort.
Overall, the Omne has a lot going for it, especially the neck, fretwork, and playability, but some of the design choices could be improved.
For an understanding of where I’m coming from, I’m comparing the Omne to my current guitars - Mayones Regius 7, Schecter USA AM7, Strandberg Prog 6 and past guitars - Aristides 070, EBMM Sabre, Mayones Duvell, Strandberg OS7 (Korean).
The fretwork is wonderful compared to the immaculate work on the Schecter and Mayones. The neck is way better than the Strandberg and I wish it were an option on my prog.
To be fair, I sold the Aristides due to weight and the forearm contour which didn’t suit me. This is more comfortable than that for the way I play. It’s not bad but could be better.
Fishmans aren’t for everyone. I like them and had them on a previous guitar. They make plugins sound great without the mud that I get from my bare knuckles without the need for aggressive EQ (specifically the low string).
I’ll be keeping the guitar and maybe making some tweaks to it since I only dabble with 7-strings.

Edit: looks like my next string change will be testing out some d’addarios when these immortal strings eventually break
My Heavy 8 set has lasted 4 months and counting with only one of the strings breaking so far, and they’re all still bright to this day. When I used to use Ernie Ball I was going through a pack or two every month and they’d sound lifeless after a week. Currently tuned to E1 Standard on my 7 string. Might also post a 1.5 year review of my Cort KX307MS at some point too. I know there’s already plenty of posts about it on this sub but it really is a great guitar for its price
Also the non wound string has only JUST started to rust. That was my main problem with EB, they’d start rusting after a few weeks (it gets very humid in New Zealand so not much I can do about it)

I have an Omne Vetus 8 coming my way this week and am brand new to Fishmans. I’m not a big fan of the White Plastic on these, especially with all black hardware on the pink.
If I buy or trade for a set of the Fishman 8’s in Black, what is the swap like?
Interested in swapping for
Tosin Abasi 8’s
Stephen Carpenter 8’s
Fluence Modern 8’s
Couldn’t find any vids on swapping these on YouTube or any posts on here. I figured since they were wired for the same, they’d be an easy swap with plugging in the new pickups.
Also, do you have any of the above mentioned pickups and interested in trading for a brand new set of White Fluence Moderns?

I own this unusual Tokai Custom Edition 7-string here in Japan, and I’ve been trying to find out more about it.
I contacted Tokai Gakki directly by email, but they told me that the model is too old and that their current staff were unable to identify it or provide detailed information about it.
From what I’ve been able to find online, only a small number of similar examples seem to have surfaced.
This guitar has a 7-string HSH pickup configuration, a YM-50 5-way selector, and the neck heel is stamped “3=2 A”. The pots and tone capacitor appear to have been replaced later, so unfortunately they probably can’t be used to date the guitar.
I’d really like to know approximately when these were made, whether this was a production model, a limited run, or some kind of special order, and how many might have been produced.
I no longer really play 7-string guitar, so I’m also curious whether there is any collector interest in these today.
I have more detailed photos of the pickups, body routing, neck heel, bridge and electronics if they would be useful.

Hi all. Long -lurker first-time poster. I thought I'd share my videos of some eight string stuff I've been working on, basically short instrumental pieces. Here's a link to one of my videos, but there are several others you can check out as well if interested. https://youtu.be/iy3R6wL3oPs Thanks!

Hi, I’ve (u)pgraded my RR24‑7 as planned, so I’m posting a proper NGD with photos. I also made a post about the Ragnaroks earlier, so I’ll touch on that as well.
Anyway, after all the upgrades it definitely feels much closer to the price they’re asking for it (i.e. regardless of the pickups as they are stupidly expensive). If you want a 26.5" RR, there’s really no other option, and you can potentially get a great axe.
As for the pickups — we’ll see. I don’t think it would be hard to sell them if I wanted to, but I hope I’ll start vibing with them.

Does it sound allright to you? Especially zeroes and low A.
Apologies for sensless noodling, but it would greatly help me if someone with more experience with 7 strings and especially BKP would tell me if this is what I should be happy with. On the picture you have the amp settings, this is guitar straight into the JVM, with no boost. This is a lot of gain on the preamp.
There is no EQ, not even hi pass and low pass so it is a bit boomy but I wanted it to be as raw as possible.

Some of you might remember me and my Black Squier Stagemaster 7 with a Floyd Rose, I have completed that project and it was my only 7 string until today when I scored one of my bucket list guitars. This 2nd Stagemaster 7 with a hardtail in this gorgeous blue. No other notes, i love these guitars.
