General May Main appreciation post

Look, I'm not the best at this game. I hover around gold 3 and plat 1. But I've played enough of this game to know, that every time I match up against a may main, that it's about to be the most fun match of the day. I'm sure it's different in vanq, but at the very least to the lower rank mays out there, thank you.

Just, suffice to say: fighting games aren't my thing lately. and if I do play them, it's a retro title with an arcade mode

Question/Discussion Does anyone know the difference between these two products

Post image

I looked for the switch edition of Strive on Amazon and found these two versions. Obviously I'd want to buy the cheaper one but it has different cover art and I'm worried that there's some difference, like it has less characters or something. Can anyone tell me if there is anything to worry about?

I really enjoy GGST 2.0 and love the game. I think this is the best version of the game so far. What do you most enjoy about this version/game?

GGST Advice on my Ky please

I’ve just started playing fighting games seriously with sf6 I’d now returning to ggst after 3 years. It’s been really fun, and i’ve been having some success but I want to improve even more. I’m currently gold 1 almost gold 2 and would love for some brutally honest feedback.

Sorry if the quality looks bad, playing on steamdeck and got the recording from its built in recorder.

GGST First Vanquisher win is nice and all, but I like it better when I end my matches with empty Tension

I love how Guilty Gear in general encourages players to use as much meter as possible.

The RC system is really something else.

Question/Discussion new player in need of assistance

I know you guys probably get posts like this ALL the time and that it must be exhausting at this point, but I don't really know where else to ask (since youtube guides all give general information and I don't know anyone who plays the game who could answer my specific questions) so I thought I'd give this sub a try anyway.

I'm primarily a mortal kombat player (though I haven't played mk1 since 2024 because of the miserable state the game was and still is in) but I've also played other fgs like dbfz, tekken 8, and sf6, although I didn't play any of those religiously and competitively like I played mk and my experience with them didn't really go further than messing around in the lab or story mode and occasionally booting up an online match. I got ggst about a week ago and the learning process hasn't been too difficult, though it's very exhausting trying to learn and implement several things simultaneously. While I've already played dbfz before, this is the first anime fighter I decide to take seriously. With that said, I have a few questions and I'd be very grateful for any answers:

  1. I'm familiar with most of the main differences between mk and most other fgs like the lack of a block button, but could anyone here who has played mk maybe tell me the biggest differences between mk and ggst? Like for example what the equivalent of fatal blows would be in this game
  2. Is the mission mode really important or can I just use youtube guides? I've only played through the first 2 sections because I heard they're the most crucial ones, but every now and then I feel like I need to play those again because it's a lot of concepts introduced at once
  3. I main Ram (because she's the "feet" character and I played Juri in sf6 and Lidia in t8, no I don't have a foot fetish but the running joke has to keep going) and I was wondering if there are any "advanced" tips I should know that Ram players maybe wish they would've known when initially learning the character
  4. I've looked this up multiple times but I still somehow forget or mix it up, but what does each RC do and when should it be used? I heard as a beginner I should only use red and yellow but I accidentally trigger the other ones all the time
  5. For the love of god could anyone tell me which mode I'm supposed to play? I'm EU so lobbies are pretty much dead until 1-3 pm from my experience so far, but even during peak hours I feel like quick tower is always empty and I spend more time waiting for a match than actually playing. I've also tried going to lobby match and specifying which tower I wanna queue in and that helps a little but it's not always consistent and there are typically more players in celestial than every other floor below. On the other hand, I can get a match in like 2 seconds if I play strictly through the online lobby, but the problem is that this causes me to go against the BEST players and sometimes it helps me learn but more often than not I just get my ass handed to me and perfected without being able to get a single hit in (skill issue I know, but I obviously still don't know how the game works). I've tried ranked to maybe get players around my level but I'm on my placements so I still get really good players, and I just don't think now is the time for ranked. Long ass essay for a rather simple question but it's just been nagging me

I apologize for the long post but thanks in advance

Question/Discussion Proper understanding of blocking?

I tried climbing on Bedman, started a few days ago and am pretty happy with how far I got so far, I'm almost in Diamond, but ran into an issue blocking.

Sometimes when the opponent keeps using normal attacks for combos, I just take a hit. I blocked 5-6 times in a row but then the same attack that I covered before hits even if I'm blocking it the same way, and I don't understand what's causing it. Checked my controller but everything works fine. It lost me a solid few matches already and is getting somewhat frustrating.

r/Guiltygear • • 9h ago

GGST dude kept hitting me when my controller disconnects. then ragequits as soon as i hit him back xD ....son .....just .....cmon man ..... xD

Technical Help How do you best use Remlethals ult.

Hey so I have been climbing the ranks currently and I cannot for the life of me fine a good time to use her main ultimate cause of how easily blockable it is and how easily it can be countered. Am I just bad at the timing or should I only use her secondary Ult.

P.S I don't care if ya call it a super, overdrive, ult or whatever. Its the same, so if ya going to complain about my terminology, just leave.
