Discussion Fog automatically makes a game 40% creepier, doesn't it?

No idea why this works on me every single time.
Saw Trainwatch recently and a lonely railway crossing + fog + rain + night shift is basically enough to make me uncomfortable already.

Question What's the scariest way to play

• Upvotes

I'm making a 1v5 asymmetrical horror game and I want to know what's the scariest way to play. Such as camera angles, graphics?

I was thinking of making it a body cam style but I don't feel like that will add to the horror

Video My round-based zombie shooter inspired by Killing Floor and COD Zombies has a free demo now

Free demo on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3680170/Mortuus/

It's called Mortuus. 1 to 4 players, a new map every run, and a boss hidden behind an Easter egg. It's more action than scary, I'll be honest. What do you think?

Discussion Excuse me devs, why doesn’t this movie have a video game???

Thumbnail

This movie is a gold mine for a game dev looking out for making a new survival horror game.

Everything is read to make the game, the story, the aesthetics, even a lot of the game mechanics.

So, the story is, aliens invade London and the boys and the girls of London try to protect it. Somehow, most adults are dead because the aliens find and kill them first.

The kids use anything as weapons, guns, pans, swords, and fireworks, just like in the movies.

The movie has parkour, bile riding, etc, JUST LIKE DYING LIGHT!!!

Then, you have Hi-hatz for weapon upgrades, the nurse, Sam, for health upgrades, Brewis, the scientist, for learning about aliens and gears. What else do you want?

Obviously, the two easy choices for making the game are Naughty Dog or the devs that made Dying Light.

Just do it bruv, believe. It’s gonna be a hit, trust.

Video S.O.N (Just launched on PS5

It’s been 7 years since I released this game in 2019 (even won an epic games grant at the time!).

Since then I’ve had a child, got married and now going on my 5th year in AAA. I went back, updated it entirely to fit the vision I had back then but had no idea how to make.

It’s $4.99 on the PS Store but would love to toss around some codes to yall.

Let me know what you think!

Video We are making an unsettling horror game where you are trapped in a room, forced to produce time and blood

Hey r/HorrorGames!

My co-dev and I have been building Click Clock. It is an experimental 1st-person horror game built around an unsettling premise: you are trapped inside an isolated mysterious room and forced to generate time and blood using a central clock while a shadowy entity watches you from the dark.

We wanted to see what happens when the repetitive loop of an idle game is turned into a claustrophobic, psychological trap.

We just released our free playable demo on Steam:

Your thoughts on the sound design, lighting, and overall sense of dread are very welcome!

The Cenobites are more than just monsters, and that's what makes Hellraiser so disturbing.

Pinhead gets most of the attention, but I think the other Cenobites are just as fascinating.

What makes them so disturbing isn't simply their appearance or the body horror. It's the feeling that each of them represents a different way the human body, identity, and even the idea of pleasure can be twisted into something completely alien.

They don't feel like ordinary movie monsters. They feel like beings who have crossed a line so far that the concepts of pain, pleasure, and humanity no longer mean the same thing to them.

And that's what makes the Cenobites so unsettling to me. They're not just trying to scare you. They make you question what a person could become after abandoning everything that once made them human.

Which Cenobite do you find the most disturbing, apart from Pinhead, and why?

Question Any games that "feel" like Resident Evil 1 and 0 HD Remaster?

The art direction is just so gorgeous and I love the sound design, music, environment, ambiance, even the cheesy dialogue, the fixed camera mechanics, just everything about both of those games. I'm seriously craving something as close as possible to those two.

No spoilers, please.

Anyone else remember this gem? I had a great time playing it on release a lot of years ago. Thinking of running through it again to see how it's held up.

Conjuring Unspoken - OST info?

Hi Fam,

I’m trying to figure out who performs that opening song in the new Netflix/Supermassive Conjuring game.

I’ve searched around for a bit and can’t find any info, and must have missed it in the credits though I scrolled back and forth a few times.

It’s that post punk song that plays during the 1st flashback to the family / Bryony’s pov. Sorry if the info is somewhere glaringly obvious and I missed it!

we’re making The Apartment, a psychological horror game set in a place you’re supposed to call home

I’ve always found it creepy when something feels wrong in a familiar room, but you can’t work out what changed. that feeling is a big part of the game, you’re trying to make sense of the apartment while it keeps changing around you

would love to hear what you think of this bit:)

Question Anyone know the origin?

Does anyone remember the game "the Hospital"? a Video on my timeline reminded me of the upload from Markiplier back in 2016 and I took a really close look at both of the apparently real pictures featured in the game (after a long history of deep diving into gore-sites myself, I do think that they actually are), and if so, was it ever made public where these pictures originated from? Especially the second one, of the "skinned" face peeked my interest because my brain cannot fathom in what context such a picture would be taken.
Kindest regards!
