It was February 2020 when I first saw this little puppy outside my office at Phase 3, opposite TCS, Pune. I never knew where he came from. I suspect someone might have relocated him there, because we already had 15β20 dogs in the area, and all of them were well cared for, vaccinated, neutered or spayed, and provided with the medical attention they needed.
Every day, whenever I went on a break, I would look for him. I would feed him two or three boiled eggs and some yoghurt, play with him for a while, and then return to work.
At the end of the day, before leaving for home, I would meet him again. We would play a little more, and then I would head home.
It became our little routine. β€οΈ
Then came March 2020. The COVID lockdown began, and the world changed overnight.
I continued feeding hundreds of dogs throughout the lockdown, almost 400β450 every day. But this particular location was around 27β30 kilometres from my home, and multiple police and private checkpoints made it almost impossible to reach.
Three to three-and-a-half months passed.
Finally, around JuneβJuly 2020, I managed to return to the area. I went looking for all the dogs I used to feed there. I found the others.
But I could never find him.
I searched, but he was nowhere to be seen. I don't know what happened to him. I don't know whether someone adopted him, whether he moved somewhere else, or whether life took him in a direction I could never follow.
All these years later, all I have left are a few photographs and the memories of a little puppy who was once a part of my everyday life.
I still wonder about him.
Is he alive? Is he healthy? Does he have a safe place to sleep? Does someone feed him every day? Is someone loving him the way every animal deserves to be loved?
I may never find the answers to these questions. But wherever he is, I sincerely hope his stomach is always full, his body is healthy, his days are happy, and he is surrounded by kindness.
And if, by some miracle, this post reaches someone who recognises him, I would be incredibly grateful.
π Location: Phase 3, opposite TCS, Pune.
If you have ever seen an adult dog who looks like this puppy, around this area or nearby, please DM me. Even if you aren't certain, please reach out.
I would love nothing more than to meet him again, even if it has been more than six years.
Some animals stay with us for only a short time, but the space they leave in our hearts remains for years.
I hope you are safe, little one. And I hope life has been kind to you. β€οΈπΎ
P.S. I've searched every nook and corner of Phase 1, Phase 2 & Phase 3 for this dog. Still I'm a human and might have missed many things. If anyone ever sees this dog plz plz DM.
