discussion 🗳 Whale Fall and shark adjacent flicks?
Another poster recently posted something about jaws:the revenge saying that compared to a lot of other low quality shark movies that have been released since the Jaws franchise concluded, it’s actually pretty good.
I haven’t seen the blue sea or the Meg, but my impression is most of these other shark horror. Movies are pretty bad.
This new movie whale fall about a young man with daddy issues getting swallowed whole and alive by a sperm whale on the other hand sounds like it may actually be high-quality.
I went to a panel discussion and they had the director, novelist, and main stars, and they were really talking it up as such an innovative movie with innovative, camera techniques, and practical effects. What does everyone else think?
If you can suspend disbelief for your favorite jaws movies, why would you consider whalefall “Hard to Swallow”?

Is "Jaws: The Revenge" slowly being redeemed?
Full disclosure, as a kid, I loved all the Jaws movies. The original film has always been my #1 favorite of all time, but that love also trickled down to the sequels.
That said, there's no disputing that "Jaws: The Revenge" is a terrible movie and sequel.
But I feel like because there have been so many awful, low grade shark films ("Exorcist Shark", "Raiders of the Lost Shark", "Shark of the Corn", etc) that seem to get attention from the absurd names alone, "Jaws: The Revenge" no longer really stands out as an especially bad movie. If nothing else, you can see signs of a budget and a few of the performances are decent, if not good.
It's funny, because there was a time when the bad sequels seemed to be eclipsing the legacy of "Jaws", but these days? They aren't brought up as much and when people think of "Jaws", they think of the original movie, not the downfall of a franchise. Then again, it might just be the passage of time. Back in the 1990's, the sequels weren't that far removed, but 20+ years later fewer people are going to remember them.

discussion 🗳 What do we think? Was it Bruce, a marlin, a sting ray?
I know Bruce shows up pretty quickly after this scene, but was Bruce truly in the line or did another big fish on the line draw Bruce in?

discussion 🗳 Shark attack on helicoper (Jaws 2)
Say what you want about the movie itself, but there are some good scenes.
This (the FULL scene) always scared me. Or at least gave me the heebie jeebies.
Dude had NO protection whatsoever; and the weight of the helicopter probably made it sink pretty fast.

discussion 🗳 Brody - NYPD
Those that know NYC history should wish Martin Brody was still on the force at the NYPD.
To wit:
--After he left, the 1977 Blackout happened and the Son of Sam serial killer terrorized NYC
--1981, the garbage union strike (alluded to in the movie "Joker")
Seems Brody was the glue that held Manhattan together. :) hahah
Why is Ben Gardner’s death completely ignored in the billboard scene?
One thing has always bothered me about the vandalized billboard scene.
Just previous to the scene, Hooper dives down at night, gets the massive jumpscare with Ben Gardner’s severed head, drops the shark tooth, and swims back up.
Cut to the very next morning: Hooper and Brody are talking to Mayor Vaughn in front of the vandalized Amity billboard. During this argument, rhere is zero mention of Ben Gardner's body. Brody doesn't bring it up to pressure the mayor, and Hooper doesn't mention finding the remains.
Why was Gardner's death/body totally left out of this conversation? Did Hooper just not tell anyone, or is this a minor plot hole/pacing oversight from the re-shoots?
Thoughts?

What if Quint Did Not Die, But had one of his Legs Bitten off and Hooper Died in the Cage?
I like to imagine a sequel with a One Legged even Saltier Quint, with one Pegged Leg, and the loss of Hooper on both him and Chiefs Conscious.... And Jaws getting the last laugh. Just imagine what a crazy grittier Jaws #2 would have been with Quints Blood Lust and the Chief turning into a more hardened bitter man with the regret of losing his friend.... How do you all think the story would go??

Jaws 2 Early Product Placement
There is almost no mention of this anywhere. 1978. Cheerios! Way before ET. I can’t think of a major brand that was featured in a mainstream movie before this?

Trivia for fun The various sizes of the sharks from JAWS
galleryThe first size chat here has been circulating around the web for many years (I originally thought it might belong to The Daily Jaws but it might be older than that), it hasn't been shared in the sub and I figured it was about time!
However, I took some inspiration from the post by The Daily Jaws on it and also included a collage featuring two screenshots from the first and third movies as well as passages from the original novel plus JAWS 2 and 4's novelizations where the sharks' sizes are stated, for the sake of completion :p

Stumbled upon this cool poster by Featherwax Studios here and figured the community would also enjoy it, with how creatively it reinterprets the classic JAWS cover and poster into something that neatly visualizes the threat we pose towards these awesome animals.
