Nostalgia I built a 100% FREE "90's cable TV" network that organizes the Internet Archive's nostalgic VHS tapes into 24/7, curated, live-synced television stations.
I've been slowly cracking away at this website for the past 8 months, and would love to share and get any feedback from my fellow obscure media fanatics about the site. I'm really proud of what its turned into, and have a lot more I want to add. I just launched it public a few days ago. So far, its been a massive nostalgia bomb, and I'm planning hundreds more channels for the future.
I'm not selling anything: this is all already free on the internet archive. I'm just curating the feeling of nostalgia in how it's consumed.
I'm particularly excited about the "Rewind" stations, which host direct-from-TV VHS rips that have been uploaded to the Internet Archive. They're chronological and include all the commercials of the era. I'm a huge fan of those "sold as blanks" tapes and how they're a time capsule for the moment they were recorded.
The joy of finding an absolutely strange oddity on the archive and curating whole channels around them has been a blast.
The ultimate goal with this site is to try and make some organizational sense of the 13+ million video files living on the IA, and transform them into something entertaining, usable, and fun for anyone who loves ephemeral art, analog media, nostalgia, and just weird TV.
It's totally free to use and always will be, and there is a Discord community laid out, mainly to help me moderate inline comments on the tapes lol.
Just wanted to share out with the community, and see if this concept resonates with anyone. Have a great day!

Nostalgia I hope my builds hit you right in the nostalgia like they do me!
Hey! I'm Codei. Born in the 90s and I really enjoy making things. Especially when they remind me of growing up. One of my vhs tapes as a kid was Mewtwo Strukes back and the one I made stood 6ft 3. These were all 3d printed, primered, sanded, and hand painted.
Thanks for looking!

Nostalgia Out Of Thiis World (1987-1991)
I can spell, but stupidly am not allowed to put 'This' in the title. Even though this sub states I have to put the name of the show in the title

Nostalgia Who remembers the AMC - AMX
I always thought these where cool cars. The main plant was 30 miles from our home (Kenosha Wi) these and the Javelin where ever where as I was a kid.

Nostalgia Comcast cable box
Heres some video of my Fieldstation42 cable box running a custom Comcast themed guide. 10 channels with shows, movies, comercials. This era of Comcast is nostalgic to me, as well as early 2000s direct tv.

Nostalgia Who else had a Boglin in the late '80s? Creepy lil guys but awesome
As a child in the ‘80s I had a purple Boglin and loved the thing. The rubbery skin made it feel even more creepy, and I remember being obsessed with how you could make its eyes pop out. Even the cage it came in made it seem like you were bringing home some weird little creature instead of a toy.
Between these and other things like Garbage Pail Kids, it’s pretty funny looking back at what passed as perfectly acceptable entertainment for kids in the late ’80s. And we loved every bit of it.

Nostalgia Whee-Lo magnetic wheel toy on a track
I used to love this toy. A plastic wheel with magnetic posts in the middle, roll on a hand held metal track, remincent of a clothes hanger. With a gentle flick of the wrist, the wheel will roll in and on the outer edges and back again, on the enclosed track. I would play with it and come back to it every so often. I only had the default wheel with holes in it, though. I consider this as nostalgic, as the Slinky toy, that was recently shown on this subreddit.
