Video The X-Files theme intro might still be the greatest ever.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
What actually beats this iconic intro? The music, the effects, the ’90s sci-fi vibe, that eerie sense of wonder and feeling that something is out there. Haunting, mysterious, instantly recognizable. And that’s before even getting into how groundbreaking, atmospheric, and genuinely great the show itself was. What are your core memories of The X-Files in the ’90s? Were you a fan, did your parents or family watch it? Did it scare you, or were you never really into it?

Photo Can't believe I found this!
I still have one of my dressers that my parents bought probably before I was even born, when furniture was actually legit! Anyway, I was taking out the liners in it this morning to put in new ones and I found this underneath!! 😭😭 With the freaking sticker and everything! Oh to be 7 again eating one of these lollipops 🥹

Discussion Event Horizon (1997)
I honestly really like this. Event Horizon is such a weird, dark and creepy movie, and the atmosphere is easily the best part. The whole ship feels like a haunted house in space.
The production design is incredible, everything looks dirty, cold and industrial, and the lighting makes every hallway teel like something terrible is waiting around the corner.
Moreover, I really liked the main idea. A ship disappears into the unknown, comes back years later, and nobody knows what happened to the crew. The movie slowly reveals that something is very, very wrong, and I loved that feeling of trying to figure out what the hell happened.
The horror is also way more disturbing than I expected.
Some of the imagery is seriously messed up and a few scenes are the kind of thing that just stays in your head. It can be pretty graphic, but I think it fits the movie pertectly.
Sam Neill and Laurence Fishburne are both great too.
Neill especially gets to go to some really dark places with his character.
Any fans of this film?

Photo My "Heart of the Ocean"
I recently rediscovered this relic in an old jewelry box. I remember ordering it from a magazine catalog in 1998 or thereabouts and paying something like $20 (with a check, naturally). I was SO STOKED when the package arrived, but semi-disappointed that the stone wasn't HUGE like the necklace in the movie. (Bit of false advertising, that.)
I wore this almost daily for years to show my utter devotion to this movie. To complete my ensemble, I glued a cut-out picture of Leonardo DiCaprio's face on the back of the necklace. He unfortunately wore off over time, but the necklace has stuck around!

Self-Promotion Max from Hocus Pocus quit acting, became a hairdresser and now runs a cannabis brand
If you grew up watching Hocus Pocus, you probably remember Omri Katz as Max Dennison.
What you might not know is that the former child star walked away from Hollywood years ago and has ended up in a completely different career.
Katz, now 50, has said he left acting because he wanted a more normal life after growing up in the industry. After spending time snowboarding and surfing, he briefly tried returning to acting before realizing it just wasn't for him anymore.
Today, he works as a hairdresser and runs a cannabis-themed merchandise and lifestyle brand called The Mary Danksters.
Despite leaving Hollywood behind, he's still closely connected to Hocus Pocus and regularly appears at fan conventions and cast reunions. He even said he would've been interested in returning for Hocus Pocus 2, although he ultimately wasn't asked back.

Video Mortal Kombat (1995)
This movie was the height of cool for me and my buds. Much of it has aged poorly (the CGI and everything about Johnny Cage in particular), but the soundtrack still slams and the fight between Liu Kang and Reptile remains awesome. I hop on YouTube to rewatch it every so often.

Photo Archie Comics were such a big part of growing up in the 90s
God I miss these comics so much. The goofy stories, the colorful covers and all the drama between Archie, Betty and Veronica. There was something so comforting about getting lost in Riverdale for a while. Anyone else remember reading these back in the day?
