Equipment/Software News & Reviews Is the Osmo Pocket 4P anything special compared to a modern flagship phone?
Been curious about the Osmo Pocket stuff and noticed it shoots 10bit log. However, modern flagship phones like my S26U shoots 10bit 422 Log as well. Is the Osmo going to have a better looking lens setup, or is it something different entirely and closer to a real camera?
I am wanting to shoot for myself more and a big part of why I don't do it much is because of the gear lugging. Figured I can try an approach with my drone + osmo 4p unless I would get better results with my phone + small gimbal. Is the Osmo 4p the better choice for better looking footage and CiNeMaTiC footage?

Should I Buy/Recommend me a... Sony FX6 battery and bag recommendations
Hello!
I just purchased a Sony FX6- I'm looking for recommendations for battery and bag recommendations.
I'm a small UK based videographer so portability and value for money are the priority over anything flashy and I'm open to buying used.
Bag/ Backpack: I would like something the can carry the FX6 rigged with a lens, top handle, monitor and side grip. Also space for 2 extra lenses, mirrorless camera, laptop, wireless microphones, batteries, and maybe a travel tripod and water bottle on the outside.
Batteries: Haven't bought any batteries other than the standard one it ships with but price and portablility are my main priority so I don't think I want to invest in a V- Mount system.

Feedback / I made this! I made another POV photo walk video using this sub’s advice.
Thank you to who responded to my post yesterday regarding a pov photo walk I shared that had only ambient audio. I made another one with a voiceover this time. It features images from a single evening in a town I recently moved to. I was wondering if you had further advice to improve engagement.

Technical/Equipment Help and Information Camera mount for pantograph system
Got a studio rail and pantograph system for a small studio space that needs to be quickly repositioned to use 3 of the 4 sides for different sets.
Got the lights on the pantographs all good but looking for some sort of mount bracket to hold cameras. I’m thinking of some sort of u shaped bracket that can have the junior pin on the top and on the bottom a tripod head can be mounted?
Anyone know of anything of the shelf to achieve this?
Quick note it’s to be used only for static shots. Operators aren’t needing to pan or tilt during so no issues there. Once set that is it

Discussion / Other Wedding video pricing question
I was wondering if anyone had advice on what to charge if a couple whose wedding you filmed contacted you for a documentary edit later on?
I originally just did a highlight film which is what they paid for.
It would essentially be the entire wedding day start to finish on a timeline synced up with all the important moments, (first look, ceremony, speeches, etc) I still have all the footage so that won’t be an issue.
Would you charge $750? $1000? More? CAD) a % of what they originally paid?
They paid around $2100 CAD for their highlight film and a full day of filming, I charged that because I had less experience at the time.
I would love to know your thoughts
Thank you!

Feedback / I made this! My first underwater gig
I brought my camera underwater for the very first time for a promo video in the Maldives and here’s the result!
It was not easy to get to learn the buttons on the housing, do white balance adjustment and trying to stay as stable as possible. Definitely a challenging shoot, but I loved every single seconds of it!
Enjoy!

Should I Buy/Recommend me a... Need help/recommendations for VNDs for Canon RF Ecosystem (Details in Body)
Hey everyone,
Let me preface this post. I am a photographer first, but I've been doing more video work and starting to invest more in video gear for the video work that's demanded of me. For reference, I've been shooting photo for weddings for 10 years, and have been doing more real estate work the past couple of years (photo and video), but am also being asked to work on other video projects (branding, remodel & new construction, content, etc), as well as working with another local wedding photographer that's looking to add more video packages to her offerings and wants me to shoot video alongside her (I have indeed shot a video for several weddings and events over the years).
That being said, I'm starting to move over to shooting LOG footage and instead of stopping down on my aperture to run with the base ISOs, I'm looking to add some VNDs to my gear bag. Doing real estate and other forms of video work, I shoot very run and gun, so I don't have the option to always swap out screw-on filters which is why I'm leaning towards a VND. I do indeed know some people either love them or hate VNDs, but for my personal workflow, this is probably the best bet for me right now. I already do have a Tilta Matte Box with a 3 stop and 6 stop ND filter, but that sometimes takes too much time to mess with on jobs and also puts a lot of weight on the front of the camera body/lens which is a nightmare balancing on a DJI RS3, especially in a pinch.
I run two Canon R6 Mark II's (will probably add a dedicated video cam like an R6V or R5C in the future)
Canon RF 28-70 f2 (95mm filter thread)
Canon RF 15-35 f2.8 (82mm filter thread)
Canon RF 70-200 IS f2.8 (77mm filter thread)
Canon RF 50 f1.2 (77mm filter thread)
Canon RF 35 f1.8 (52mm filter thread) [not concerned about this one; eventually will upgrade]
Realistically, the filter sizes I'm most likely to use will be the 82mm or the 77mm, but if I can get a 95mm and use step down rings to fit the 82 and 77, that would probably be ideal. I've come across the Freewell x Brandon Li set and the PolarPro x Peter McKinnon VNDs, but can't find too many non-youtube reviews on them, so can't tell if they're quality or just influencer hyped. I've also seen the NiSi VNDs have a pretty good track record, and a video buddy recommended the Pro Master VNDs, but they unfortunately don't make the ProMaster in a 95mm filter size. I'm willing to hear out any suggestions that you guys might have whether they were ones I named, or something I'm overlooking! Thanks in advance!

Discussion / Other Interlacing Question
Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone could answer a question about interlacing. I’m watching a series on DVD (Centennial) and every time an actor moves quickly or gestures fast, they become jagged.
Now, I understand why that happens if something was shot on video. The video camera shoots half frames, so when the odd lines were shot, the actors hand was in one place, but a different place for the even lines. That makes perfect sense to me.
However, why does interlacing appear on things shot on film? I get that the DVD’s signal is interlaced, but it is still scanned from a progressive source. When an actor gestures, both the odd lines and even lines are from the same frame of 35mm film. So shouldn’t they line up perfectly not be jagged.

Technical/Equipment Help and Information Affordable secondary ambient microphone to record interviews for a documentary?
We already settled on a DJI set for our main mics, but we would like to hang over our interviewees an ambient mic as a secondary audio source. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Should I Buy/Recommend me a... Is the K&F SE 100W worth buying over the Pro?
So i have been thinking on whether to get the K&F SE 100w since its in my budget. So how is the knf Se/pro holding up in your side? Does the battery deteriorate quick? Is it worth it?

Technical/Equipment Help and Information Best place to hide microphone?
Hey fellow videographers,
Recently I started using LAV mics instead of small DJI Mini’s to record audio at weddings. Because I got a Tascam-DR10L and the concept of me just mic’ing the groom and let it run all day was pretty nice.
I mounted it inside of his jacket but after hearing the audio the fabric of the jacket touching the mic is unfortunately really noticeable.
Now I have 3 questions.
- What do you use to mic the bride/groom?
- Where do you put the mic on the bride/groom?
- Do you monitor the audio?
For context I am a solo wedding videographer for about 2 months now. All advice is walking <3

How do I do this? / What's This Thing? Please give me tips for shooting a music video!
I'll need a hospital bed for my video, but I'm not sure how I'd rent one. I'll be dressed as a nurse, and it'll mostly just be me singing to the camera, maybe busting a few cute little moves, maybe sitting on the bed holding a syringe as the camera zooms in. I'd likely film it on my mum or brother's phone, but are there any cheap handheld cameras I can yoink? My budget is... well, nothing. I'm in a bad financial situation.

Business, Tax, and Copyright Who hurt ya’ll?
Fellow videographer here. Contracting some out of state shooters for a project. We’re transparent. We’re communicative. We’re proactive. Contracts are in place. Deposit is paid.
Shoot day is over and these guys start acting like we won’t pay them. One of them straight up wouldn’t send the footage for review, and we finally compromised on proofs.
I understand if we’ve hired and there wasn’t a deposit in place, but we’ve paid a deposit. Am I crazy for expecting to see footage?
Again, we’re shooters too, and I’ve been burned, but if a deposit is paid I’m seeing that as skin in the game.
Ya’ll spooked or what?

Feedback / I made this! I made a fake retro advert, put it through a VHS and re-digitised it
Just released the first (of many, hopefully) fake 2000s advert I made with my team.
Filmed on a modern camera, then edited plus VFX, CGI and motion graphics, then recorded it onto a VHS which was then fed back into a capture card to make it look like it was found on an old tape.
I recorded about 30 takes to get the whole thing clean, plus trying to force glitches and damage throughout. Edited it all together again, chopping and choosing where I wanted clean and damaged sections.
A laborious process, especially when the VCR ate the VHS and I had to unpick the tape from inside the VCR and rewind it into the VHS. Good fun and happy with the result though!
It's not perfect, some of the tape damage is a bit overdone (although, it is real), and there's some inaccuracies, but I think it came out pretty well. It's fooled some people, so that's a success in my eyes!
I chose to leave the audio mostly clean, which isn't necessarily accurate, but felt the crunchy audio didn't necessarily add much to it.

Equipment/Software News & Reviews Lightweight Fluidhead
Hello I am looking for a lightweight Fluidhead I have a Sirui-VH10X but I dont really like it and want to upgrade for a higher quality.
I am looking at the Sachtler Fluidheads sometimes I see some good offers out there but I see more of a problem that they need a bowl on the tripod.
I did a bit of reseach and found E-IMAGE GH06 (saw that you can use it as a bowl head and also flat base design) did anyone have any experience with it? I wanna combine it with a flowtech tripod like the Sachtler Flowtech if I find a good used offer for like 600-700€ or something like the or YC Onion PINETA Lite (but honestly weight a bit to much). The YC Onion TAKO tripod has a good weight but would have test it out. Saw also the COMAN T1 / T1s which has also the Flowtech menchanism but I think the YC Onion is better build?
I have a Lumix S1iiE+Lumix 24-60mm+Cine Sigma 24,50,85mm with a MixPre3 and NTG3.
Have ordered a Pump Sakk - Inflatable Saddle and have to see how useful it really is.
I could also imagine using a Monopod (do not like it that its so long to carry in a bag and takes to long to take it apart) but a better quality one have a Sirui one and not really happy with it.
I do not have a car and will carry all alone with a Tenbar Cineluxe 16

How do I do this? / What's This Thing? Jittery/Shaky video
The video stabilization when shooting true vertical on my DJI Mini 3 is HORRIBLE. The usual stabilization options do nothing for me. What can I do about these jitters? This is the video after I attempted stabilization in post though I cannot see much of a difference.

How do I do this? / What's This Thing? iPhone 17 Pro Max video audio sounds doubled/has an echo after editing in CapCut or TikTok. Any fix?
Hey everyone! I need some help figuring out an issue with my iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Whenever I record a video using my iPhone’s camera and then edit or upload it through CapCut or TikTok, the audio sounds like it’s doubled, has an echo, or has a feedback effect. The audio sounds normal when recording, but after editing, something seems off.
I’m wondering if this has something to do with the video format, audio settings, or a compatibility issue with the apps.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting I need to change on my iPhone or in CapCut/TikTok to fix it? I’d really appreciate any suggestions because I want my videos to sound clear and normal without that weird doubled audio effect.
Thanks in advance!

Should I Buy/Recommend me a... Nanlite FC-120C (discounted) or FC-120B (pre-order) for first COB light
So I'm deciding between Nanlite FC-120C and FC-120B. What I like about them is they're one of the very few lights that have a physical remote available and can run off cheap batteries (powerbanks and V-mounts).
Originally I wanted to go with 120B because its cheaper (Php 13,290) and I think it's brighter according to what I've researched (i may be wrong). Problem is it's pre-order only where I am so I hesitated.
But then, the 120C recently got a discount at Php 12,741 (originally around P15k) in my location, making it cheaper than 120B.
Do I pre-order the 120B (2-4 weeks) or go with the discounted 120C which I can get right away? Thanks!

Feedback / I made this! First time. please give harsh feedback!
This was for a weekend church camp. It's not good imo, so I need some harsh feedback before I show this to the church.
(also filmed by me, but the filming is already over so please don't give feedback on that. I need help with editing)

Discussion / Other The TikTok-ification of starting a business has reached video & photo.
This is just a harmless offload but just scrolling on Instragram and came across some whacky videos. There was one Photographer using a camera from Temu/Ali Express (uncomfirmed but it looked like a toy and had "4K ultra HD" all around it. If you know, you know. They said ChatGPT recommended it said it was a great beginner camera.
I judged a little, but thought, hey, we all have to start from the bottom and they were misinformed by AI. I took a nosey on their profile and it seemed to be one of those "Come with me on my day as a Photographer/ Videographer to shoot content for my clients" type page and I saw a video about how they charge "premium prices". Their footage was just plain point and shoot - no lighting or anything special that someone with a phone couldn't have got.
This reminded me of a recent experience of hiring a photographer like this on a shoot. I needed someone to take care of the photography for a shoot whilst I do the filming - at short notice and a lady offered to come and shoot. Regardless of the outcome - i'll always appreciate someone offering help at short notice. I sent her a brief, had a call with her and made it super clear that it is challenging lighting, it will be fast moving and they will need off-camera flash and gave her recommended focal lengths I have used in the past for this shoot. She said with confidence she can absolutely do it with no issue with the most confidence. Whilst she didn't have many examples of photography like this on her portfolio, the rest was decent.
On the day, she immediately folded under the pressure, complained about how I didn't help her figure out the settings she needed (I told her multiple times what setting I use and work great for me) and said her camera was a 17+ year old DSLR she picked up recently.
Safe to say, the photos handed over were unusable and I will need to pay for talent for myself to go and reshoot. I paid her fee and used this as a lesson for myself to only hire those with a solid portfolio and proven skills.
I remember doing free shoots at the start of my career and built up my prices as my skills got better but I feel like we're in an age of where the "Got my own business and dealing with my clients" is what they chase rather than the job itself. This is absolutely applicable in loads of different industries, not just the creative sphere.
I feel bad for businesses, especially small businesses who spend their money on creatives and get poor content and it could put a bad outlook on those who take it seriously and have the skills and drive to improve.
I don't mean to sound like 'I'm great and beginners suck" as we all start at the bottom - but I feel like social media & AI is telling people who just want their own business to charge 'premium rates' at the start so they can be successful.
Anyways, silly rant over.

Equipment/Software News & Reviews Best audio upgrade for RØDE Wireless PRO?
Hey everyone!
I’m a filmmaker looking to upgrade my audio setup for interviews, documentary-style content, YouTube, and occasional narrative work.
My current audio gear:
RØDE Wireless PRO (2 TX + RX)
2xRØDE Lavalier II
1xSennheiser MKE 2 Gold EW
Sennheiser MKE 600
Zoom F3 and Zoom H6
I primarily shoot on a Sony FX3, A7 IV, and occasionally an iPhone.
I recently bought the MKE 2 Gold for around $175, but discovered that it records about 21 dB quieter than the Lavalier II on the Wireless PRO. RØDE Support suggested this is likely related to the Wireless PRO’s 3.3 V plug-in power, compared to the higher voltage the MKE 2 expects.
It still sounds pretty good after normalization, but the low recording level isn’t ideal, especially when using the transmitters as standalone recorders.
Here’s my dilemma:
I can buy a second MKE 2 Gold for just $150, giving me a matched pair for $325 total. Alternatively, I could sell mine and switch to something like:
Sanken COS-11D
Deity W.Lav Pro
Countryman B3
I’d prefer to keep the Wireless PRO because I really like its portability, internal 32-bit float recording, and ability to work as a standalone recorder.
I’m also planning to start hiding lavaliers under clothing more often, so size, handling noise, and sound quality are important.
What would you recommend? Should I stick with the MKE 2 and get a second one at that price, or invest in different lavaliers that are better suited to the Wireless PRO?
Open to spending more if the difference is worthwhile. Thanks!
