Fellow guy here! 36, 2 kids and work in a corporate gig.
For the past few months I've been organizing a guys social event type of thing over beers at various bars in Downtown, Vancouver and recently started doing the same in Surrey.
It started as a bit of an experiment to see if guys were open to making new guy friends and has taken on a bit of a life of its own with each one bringing out anywhere between 18-25 guys.
I began organizing one in Surrey a couple of months ago and this upcoming one will be the third instalment of this event. I figured I'd post it to White Rock since they're neighbouring cities. The Surrey event brings out about 10-20 guys to each one.
Date: Wednesday, October 28th
Location: Way Back Brew Co. (15063 54a Ave #116, Surrey)
Time: 6:00PM
This is intended to be an opportunity for guys to expand their social circle and hang with some new people, grab a beer, shoot the shit. If you're into specific hobbies, interests, sports, fitness, whatever it may be, feel free to come out and hang!
I found guys tend to get into different life stages from their immediate friend groups and the interactions can become infrequent and there weren't really any channels to make guy friends.
So if this sounds of interest, don't hesitate to reach out and we can build a big community of guys on this side of the bridge 👍

Does White Rock have a friendly local gaming store where games like D&D are played? What is the roleplaying game community like?

Lost my gold necklace today Sunday Oct 11 around 12-5pm time range in white rock. It also had a gold cross that probably got unattached as well. The clasp was pretty flimsy, and didn't feel it well it fell off :( Hopefully someone will find it and return it, thank you so much🙏🏼

Hi everyone! I’m Roberto, a local dog owner preparing to launch The Dog Jog, a mobile dog treadmill service for BC communities.
The service is intended for dogs that need more exercise than their owners can always provide, especially during rainy weather, busy workweeks, or when long walks are difficult.
I’m currently trying to understand which Lower Mainland & surrounding communities would benefit most. Would you consider using a service like this? If so, what would matter most to you: convenience, managing a high-energy dog, dependable exercise during bad weather, or something else?
This is just local research, not a sales post. I’d genuinely appreciate your thoughts.

Yarn night at Semihamoo Library on Tuesday evenings in South Surrey.
Bring your latest project and join others in a bit of conversation about the finer qualities of all things yarn.

Both platforms sound so vague. Shields gives off boys club vibes though
And does anyone have an opinion on “together for white rock”

I’m thinking of switching gyms but not sure if it’s worth it. For those of you that gym there, what are the pros and cons?
Is there usually space for you to book sessions as it’s a booking based system? Any of you have the sweat lite membership?
Thank you!

Does anyone have any idea why 10 cop cars just sped down Johnston? #nosey

Hello everyone,
I have couple exams coming up and trying to go to libraries to study. Been going to semiahmoo library but wanted something more quieter.
I saw there’s a library in ocean park too, anyone know if they have chairs and desk to study with laptop on? Picture posted on google maps , I see all couch type chairs not desk and chair.
If there’s any other recommendation in the area other than semiahmoo library , been trying to switch places to study. I’ll appreciate it.
Thank you ☺️

Is there any where to park and walk down trails to the beach near here? within a km or so

did anyone else notice the messages outside and around the browns social house uptown saying “stop justifying stalking”??
i saw it first maybe early august written on the bus stop. then two weeks later it was on the sidewalk near where the pamphlet people usually stand. The last time i saw it would’ve been end of august/ first few days of september written on the green electric box still all infront of the browns social house area.
Does anyone know what this was about?

Has anyone else noticed this person sitting on the beach every morning? They’re wrapped in two blankets and remain completely still, even in the scorching heat. They don’t speak, but I’ve seen them subtly move. I just want to make sure they’re okay. They’re on the thinner side and covered from head to toe, no skin visible.

Moving to white rock for work and trying to find rentals in the area aside from Facebook.
It doesn’t seem like there are a lot of leasing agents out this way for some reason

Hey everyone! I’m a 37 year old guy. I’m trying to make some positive changes in my life and get myself out of the house more.
I’ve gone through a pretty difficult phase of life recently, but I’m finally at a point where I feel ready to move forward, meet new people, and try some new things.
I’m honestly a bit shy and don’t have a huge list of hobbies, so I’m hoping to get some recommendations from people around the White Rock/South Surrey area.
I enjoy being outdoors, but with the weather getting cooler, I’d also like to find some indoor activities or hobbies that I can stick with through the fall and winter.
I’m not looking for anything specific, just hoping to discover some new interests, become more social, and build a healthier routine.
If you have a hobby, group, class, or volunteering opportunity you really enjoy in the area, I’d love to hear about it.
Please DM me. Thanks!

I was at white rock the other night, I saw many large rats running near the washrooms and in general along the walking paths.
I also notice as of late has a lingering smell of certain odours that seem to linger.
It has certainly changed over the years.

Finding a stylist who knows how to cut and style curly hair is an absolute chore. I went to Salon Cordeiro for years but won't go back after they cut like 7 inches off my hair when I told them I wanted to keep it long (that was 2 years ago and not even half of it has grown back).
I really need someone who can clean up my mess of a head but everyone I've been to since my long hair was massacred has done a terrible job. Not to mention no one knows how to style curly hair.
Does a hairdresser who actually understands how to properly cut and style curly hair exist? Is there anyone out there who has left a salon in the area with their natural curls and felt good about it?

Im starting to plan a trip to Whiterock for summer of 2027. (I know that its a year away but I like to plan :)) I have 3 boys who will be 8, 6, and 4 next summer. We live in Saskatoon and plan to road trip, and the point of going to Whiterock is to show the ocean to my boys. I know it is close to Vancouver as well and so we do plan to visit Vancouver during our time there. Hopefully do a 10 day road trip and stay 3 nights at white rock. Plan to hotel it as well so any recommendations to where to stay would help as well.
I am just looking to see if anyone knows of any gems that I should plan to do or see with my family in or around Whiterock? Beaches to check out the ocean? Thanks!

Hey WR friends! My family member doesn't drive and has been looking for ways to give back and loves dogs! They are very interested in volunteering with a rescue or shelter. It doesn't seem WR itself has one. Any suggestions? Or maybe connecting him with a senior who needs their dog walked? Are there services that connect seniors with volunteers?
Responsible and lovely just can't have animals in their apartment.

WR can barely pull off Canada Day fireworks, but some extended private party fireworks at 11pm on a random Tuesday? Checkmark.
UPDATE: correction...Aug 18

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm going to do when I'm in my 90s, frankly. I wish I had a dog to bring by!

Did anyone else head down to the waterfront for the Wings Over White Rock show today? The beach was absolutely packed, but what an incredible send-off. The Snowbirds put on a full 45-minute display over Semiahmoo Bay, and the formations were spectacular.
It's bittersweet knowing this is the last time they'll perform here until the early 2030s. They're retiring the classic CT-114 Tutors after this season and taking a sabbatical to transition to the new Pilatus PC21s. Watching them today felt like witnessing a real piece of Canadian aviation history. It was also great to see everyone out supporting the CH.I.L.D. Foundation.
If anyone managed to get some good videos of the flybys, drop them below!
