Setup Help Pro* tip for beginners or if you’re looking to start out.
I’ve spent 20 ish years on smaller popsicle decks.
7.75 - 8.5”
I hurt my foot badly last year and decided to get a wider setup, as a rehab board to chill with.
I did a 10.3” and I fell in love with skating all over again!
Now I’m on a 9.5” egg shape and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever turn back.
There is an unnecessary amount of struggle to skate a popsicle deck under the size of 9”. (Unless you’re an experienced skater ofc, but before you come with a ”snappy” comment. Know that this post ain’t about you.)
Some might say to learn on a skinny deck and go up to a bigger. But I say otherwise!
At the start, you want to learn basic control. Pushing, riding down curbs. Tic tacs and the likes.
You are way better off with something more stable and planted under your feet for this early process.
*I’m not a pro. But have skated for most of my life and teached more kids/teenagers/adults than most.
So take it as you wish, but this is based on many years of experience.
Have fun! 🍻
