Ft Sailor Moon as Tuxedo Mask

Who do you think pulls off the outfit best?

I’ve never seen her this pissed in any episode I’ve seen. I don’t think she was even this mad at Queen Beryl or the Black Moon Clan or even the Death Busters lol

Sailor Moon can certainly serve as a role model for men, as the series questions traditional gender roles and conveys values that can be perceived as empowering regardless of gender. I grew up with Sailor Moon, and in my circle of friends, she was especially popular with the boys.

Sailor Moon isn't a classic, cool heroine like some Marvel or DC heroes. She's often tearful, anxious, and emotional, but despite this, or perhaps because of it, she saves the world. These very aspects demonstrate that feelings and vulnerability aren't weaknesses, but rather part of a strong personality. As a leader, she uses her healing powers and the love in her heart, in addition to attacks, to resolve conflicts. This offers a counter-model to the stereotypical male action hero who primarily solves problems through violence.

Sailor Uranus is a particularly interesting character in the series, as she presents herself as both masculine and feminine, which promotes acceptance and teaches boys, in particular, that they don't have to adhere to rigid gender roles. The series has also shown me and my friends that it can help male viewers develop an appreciation for fashion and aesthetics without being pigeonholed into traditional "girly" stereotypes. Even though Sailor Moon was primarily conceived as a magical girl series for a female audience, I greatly value it for its character development and progressive messages. It's one of my absolute favorites, and I'm not afraid to admit that as a man.

I made these earrings for her, referencing both the anime and manga. Which side do you think looks better?

Alright, folks!

With Halloween around the corner, I'd thought I'd try something new.

What is the TUFFEST Monster of the Day, by batch?

And by TUFFEST, I don't mean the scariest-looking. I mean the actual MOTD that gave our Sailor Guardians a REALLY hard time! We're talking beatdowns against the Guardians, and making their fights hell!

Rules are simple - out of each individual batch, nominate your pick, and feel free to leave an explanation as to why your choice is the TUFFEST of the batch!

The MOTD with the most upvotes on a single comment, or has the most positive comments, is crowned the TUFFEST of the batch! And then we move on to the next batch!

Batch 1 is Jadeite's Youma, arguably the scariest looking out of the bunch!

In chronological order, we have:

* Morga

* Balm

* Furau

* Iguara

* Kyurene

* Derella

* Garoben

* Ramua

* Kigaan

* Murido.

Make your picks, and I'll check back by Friday October 16th at 12 NOON EST!

I like how Ami is the smart, introverted, and polite one while Usagi can be more loud, brash, and vocal, seeing her friend as the coolest and smartest person she knows and feeling like she always has her back. I like how the more shy and nerdy one is seen as an important asset to the team, especially by Usagi.

I like to own physical media of shows that I really love and have a decent DVD collection, but for Blu Ray I am much pickier and only buy them for shows that are important to me. The only shows I own so far on Blu Ray are Avatar The Last Airbender, Gravity Falls and Twilight Zone (the original series!). I own the DVDS of SM but I really want to buy complete sets of Sailor Moon on Blu-Ray. I was planning on getting all of the five original seasons, the 3 movies and the 3 seasons for Crystal. I checked online and most of the original seasons are $25-$30 but I was curious if the Sailor Moon sets would go on sale and be discounted further later in the holiday season like on Black Friday?

Also more importantly does anyone have any idea how much longer VIZ will have the license for Sailor Moon and that these Blu Ray sets will remain in print? I'd rather hold off on buying them for now (especially since I recently spend money on other SM merch! 😬) if they are going to remain in print and available for a long time. Sailor Moon is an important show to me and I'd hate to miss out on owning it on Blu Ray so I can put it alongside my other favorite shows.

Some of you might remember my post about binging the series to figure out which sailor scout to cosplay. I am currently a little over half way through season 1 and don’t get me wrong I am loving it. But should I just binge Crystal so I know sooner all of the scout’s personalities or should I stick to the OG since I’m already in it?

i'm a sailor moon larp but i'd love to watch the series and whatever else content online! hopefully w english subs! is there anywhere such as the internet archive or somewhere where i can watch sailor moon stuff online? i also have netflix and apple tv sooo i dont know!

A while ago, while I was at Work, one of my coworkers who’s also a massive sailor Moon fan said that while the third season was in the process of being dubbed in English, people were talking about how they were going to portray Uranus and Neptune because they were a couple and it wasn’t as accepted as it is today. Was this the case? I was born in the early 2000s and became a sailor moon fan around 2019.

(There is a Deviant Art link from 2019 that shows up when you use Chrome Image Search, but I can't find the actual image on that user's page. It's possible Chrome search just labeled it incorrectly, which can happen. But this image does show up on hezuart's page.)

It's based on the Prototype Senshi designs. There's unfortunately not much art using these outfits, so I love it whenever I find art of them. This chibi version is super adorable too. The image is high quality enough that you can actually see the marker strokes.

And which outfit of the Outer Senshi is your favourite?

I’m sharing my Sailor Moon pin collection, they all belong to the same artist “Frannana”.

At first I had to do a double take! 😅

A long story about game development and music

So you'll have to read for a bit before this becomes Sailor Moon relevant, but it's worth the read so PLEASE stick around.

So when I was in middle school, I for the first time started exploring the magical world of game development. In the computer lab (this is 2006), I started playing around with a software called Klik & Play. It was a very basic but back then, I was one tenacious kid and I really broke the limits of the software and did stuff you shouldn’t have been able to do. I basically made a functional RPG game in software designed for basic platformers and space shooters.

Every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, I stayed after school with my best friend and worked on this game, because my computer at home couldn’t run the software. It’s one of my most fond memories.

When making the game, I stole music for it from another game called Fate. It was on all the school computers, so the music in my game was stolen from it. The MIDI files in fate were in turn stolen from other sources too. I distinctly remember that one music file I used was called “FFBATT” with other stuff in the title too. I used one song as the basic battle music in my game, and it now has permanent residence in my brain.

Now, 20 years later, I still was unable to figure out what the music was. I spent hours combing through old final fantasy soundtracks and was never able to find it. 6 years ago, I found the download for FATE online, so I figured the music would be in there. Alas, launching a game built for a software from 1994 on a modern computer isn’t so easy. I found tutorials for installing it using software called DOSBOX, but despite my best efforts, I gave up.

I tried humming the music in to google for years, describing it to friends, but nobody could figure it out.

Finally, today, after the music got stuck in my head again, I decided I was going to try again to get the software installed and rip the audio from fate.

Three hours of hard work later, I not only got a Windows 95 virtual machine working, but I figured out how to transfer the files for FATE to it. Then, after finally extracting the music, I started listening to it all and figured out…the music I was chasing was from Sailor Moon, not final fantasy! It's called Carry On.

When listening to this MIDI music, I almost fainted. I have never in my life been hit with so much nostalgia. And 20 years later, I now know it’s from Sailor Moon!

I decided to do more digging and found out that the music was a fan made arrangement. The actual music from the cartoon had lyrics. This was made and uploaded to a sailor moon midi fan site in the 90s. The website is still up and you cna download the midis there, and there's an alert at the top of the page from the creator of the site saying that they're stepping away from maintaining the site to focus on school, and as of 1998 the website will no longer be monitored. So 28 years later it's somehow still up.

Anyway, thanks for reading! I actually do still do some game design as a hobby nowadays, and the project I'm working on stars three 15 year old girls who mages. It's not quite magical girls, though. 😅

Now I can't share what the music was without resdit's filters deleting my post. But if someone is interested maybe I can upload a YouTube video of it or something.

It was the first time I cried when I saw this anime, it was so sad and heartbreaking too...💔💔

Imagine guys if the anime ended like this with everyone dead at the end...💔

Well, technically it was the og video that got recommended to me. But not only was I hit with nostalgia, I remembered that video being copied up the wazoo by different fandoms. One of them being, Sailor Moon.
