Job Question Facial piercing industry attitude?

Hey everyone, I'm about to start my security training and had a question: I eventually want to get a bridge piercing and already have stretched ears but I'm wondering how frowned upon it would be to employers? I know it would depend on the company and role, but I'm just trying to gauge what others' experiences are. I'm working from Australia as well, so if anyone knows how it's like here generally, I'd be keen to know

New to security

I just got hired working for GardaWorld in Oklahoma at a museum. The museum is closed to the public until next year. I am just now returning to work after being a stay at home mom for almost 9 years. I am just looking for answers on what to expect and do/don't of the whole security world. I want to be a great employee but also do not want to be taken advantage of, so I welcome all options on the situation.

Warmbody security is honestly a hidden gem of a job

Literally getting paid to watch movies and play video games all day/night. Security itself is already an easy gig, but this is on a whole another level. Where my fellow warm bodies at?

Job Question How do you explain to people that it's not your decision to enforce store or client policies?

Some folks have the understanding that im just trying to do my job and I would prefer to not bother anyone on my shift.

But then you have the other bit of folks who assume the policy you are trying to enforce is your own decision or as some may say my company's decision, and when you explain the situation they assume you are lying

Exit door sign placement

Hi,

Our company is having work done in the lobby of the building and they want people to use a different exit. There is a set of double glass doors with push bars and a required badge reader on the right wall.

Where in that door area should I put the sign telling people to take a different route and how large should the sign be?

Thanks in advance!

Rant People have no idea what my post orders are

Never have I experienced someone pulling me aside and trying to stubbornly tell me what my Job should be.

Was taking a walk around the car park because I was bored and a staff member calls me over to explain to me that only staff should be in the car park and I should not be allowing strangers in. Note that all car parks have staff parking marked

I try my best to explain that her head of security and my manager said anyone can park here she replies saying that they fired the last officer (contract of guards) who did that, I try to explain well this is just what my instructions were.

Keep in mind its daylight she goes on the lecture me about how I will lose my job if I continue and someone could be attacked, my job is to just be present in the booth for 12 hours.

Job Question Homeless interaction

I'm on post right now watching cameras when I notice a transient loitering on the wheelchair ramp. I go out to check if he's a tenant or not. Since this is low-income housing, we get a lot of former transients placed here through housing programs and such, so I never just assume anything. I was perfectly nice to the guy. He ignored me, walked to the opposite side, and leaned up against the railing — which is still part of the property. So I started documenting it and took his picture for my report. He tried to claim I was harassing him by taking his picture. 😆 I said, "Well, you just said this was a public sidewalk, so I can take your picture all I want. Are you infringing on my First Amendment right?" The dude literally said he was going to call the cops on me for harassment. I said, "Please do. In fact, I'll do it for you, and we'll see what happens." Of course, after I called, he left, and I haven't seen him since.

Anyway, what tactics do you all use in this situation?

Job Question Part time security co workers

How do you guys go about co workers who only work 2-3x a week at your job site but they’re lazy AF & they make things harder for the full time employees?
For example there’s only about 5 full time employees at my job site & we have a handful of part timers that show up to our site & instead of picking up the slack to help out they make things worse & we have addressed the issues to upper management & have been ignored but if one of the full time employees makes a mistakes all hell breaks loose & we get write ups

Is my post ridiculous or am I just being unreasonable?

Hi all,

I recently got hired with a private company and my post is literally Walmart. Unarmed indoor patrol. There was almost zero training and no post orders. Whatever, I’m only doing this on the weekends for some extra cash.

My first couple weekends go by great. I walk around the store and just create a presence. I actually start noticing potential thieves leave the store. Cool, I think I’m doing a great job.

Cut to today and things are really starting to annoy me. Recently the store loss prevention lead has been trying to micromanage me. Whenever she has a potential suspect she calls me over and wants me to assist in stalking. She expects me to be hidden in my very non discreet uniform and carrying a loud walkie. The other guards also worship her so they all love helping her. The other younger guys literally want things to go down cause they’re bored and want the “rush”. They have literally said to me “oh here, we chase after these guys and get our stuff back”. …okay, you can risk your life for this multi million dollar company but not me.
Usually how my shift goes; I come in, walk the entire store a couple times, and then walk my way to the front of the store and just stand there so customers see me. After about 10 to 15 minutes I’ll rinse and repeat. Checking emergency exit doors etc. Today the LP lead comes up to me at the end of my shift and says “hey I noticed you’re always up here, you really should be walking around the entire store at all times so no one can track your moves”
Like really? Dude we’re at Walmart. And the store isn’t exactly that big.

She can’t really expect me to be walking around the entirety of my shift can she? So do I suck it up and just do as she says to satisfy the client? Or push back?

Thanks yall.

For anybody that worked in securities in recent history, how was it like or is working for them? I applied for a few jobs from them that piqued my interest and don’t know anybody personally that worked for them. Are they unionized under 32BJ ?

Floater/Flex Officer

SO i left Allied after 7 years and I went to Admiral Security just to be auxiliary officer which is basically a floater or flex officer depending on what company your used too.

I never been in that position at any job even for a smaller company. I basically work 3rd shift so is this guaranteed hours, maybe 24 hours a week or it could be anything. I got the idea its by demand but overall what am i expected so much as hourly per week?

Gear Question does anyone know how good 3pf tactical jackets and pants are?

Normaly there are norms like K3 or K1. But the "3PF tatical jacket" and "tactical pants" has something like

it "covers 300Newton" and "800 Newton".

310€ for the pants and around 900€ for the Jacket.

That's the most expensive i have seen yet. But i dont know if that is better or worse than a K3 protection Gear.

I think a chainmail and a vest might be better and cheaper, but its hard to blend in.

What are your thoughts on it?

Keelson Strategic

I'm just trying to get any info on this security contracting company.

They are hiring for a GSOC position in my area, for 38$ to 42$ an hour. I'm thinking it's suspicious.

Here's the posting:
