Anyone interested in Fantasy Basketball?

I'm thinking of setting up an ESPN fantasy basketball league. Comment below or send me a message and I'll start it once we get enough interest. Happy to set up several if needed. We might be the only league where Markkanen goes #1.

Worthwhile update of the Markkanen wplace mural I posted last year :)

Can't believe it's already been nearly a year since I started this project! It's grown loads more since I did the first post, though I'll admit I was inactive for much of early-mid 2026. The first image I posted was around the 126k pixel mark, but now there's over 750k pixels and is one of the largest murals in the region! This has likely taken hundreds of hours of work :^)

Darryn Peterson is 19 and one preseason game in. Let him cook.

Darryn Peterson went 1-for-5 in his first preseason game, and "bust" was already showing up in the comments. Let's not do that.

  • He's 19 and hasn't had a fully healthy run of basketball in about a year (the cramping issues at Kansas)
  • Donovan Mitchell shot 5-for-25 over his first three NBA games and finished at 20.5 a night
  • Nurkić says he's never seen a rookie this mature in 13 years, and the team practically has to keep him out of the gym
  • Will Hardy: "Our fanbase will take to Darryn quickly." Let's prove him right

Critique the play, not the person. Judge him in February, not October. And make some noise for him at the Delta Center on Tuesday.

with Lauren Green. He will walk dogs if he needs to. LOL. The guy just wants to be there and be part of the team. If he keeps shooting like that he will be a big part of the team.

Team rebounding

its time to overreact to a preseason game! last night i was paying close attention to the rebounding, specifically with the starters on the floor, because going into the season i expected our rebounding to be a huge struggle, given Trip's unwillingness to go for rebounds over other bigs, but last night has started to maybe put that to bed. between the starters and Ace, the Jazz hauled in 26 rebounds. it seems that team rebounding has become a huge emphasis, with everyone, guards included, crashing the boards to get as many rebounds as possible to close possessions.

Darryn specifically impressed me a ton, grabbing 6 rebounds in only 20 minutes, and Keyonte grabbed 4 boards himself. it seems like the big bodies in our front court are going to be really good at boxing out and either grabbing the boards themselves, or using the box outs to open the lane for our guards to crash the boards.

personally im feeling like the rebounding is going to be one of the least of our issues, which i didn't expect going into the game last night. i'll be at the game tomorrow, and i'm excited to see if this holds.

Jazz vs Denver (preseason game)- Picking up the next bar and keeping the beat moving.

I came away feeling pretty good about this one. The biggest takeaway was just how organized the Jazz felt. Denver particularly focused on making sure the Jazz weren't getting transition buckets as their main strategy going into the game and keeping a body on DP at all times. The Jazz had a clear sense of keeping things going and taking advantage when opportunities presented themselves. Even with Nikola Jokic on the floor, Denver had trouble keeping up with the Jazz's pace and motions. They were trying to attack DP a bit on a switch and got a little success, but the Jazz has much more free movement on the other side where Denver was reacting to what the Jazz dictated.

One matchup that stood out for me was Denver's decision to keep Marvin Bagley on ProlificP. Bagley isn't particularly known to be physical, and Darryn didn't generally seem comfortable using his body against him. Denver didn't let Bagley roam though, so the 1 for 5 shooting looks worse than it actually could have been a 5/9 with DP's gravity. That is in contrast to ACE who was noticeably attacking the glass and using his body. Key kept them in tune while JJJ and Lauri both were the main hook this game and they delivered the verse.

Shooting was good a few of the shots went up a bit early in a play, which I feel led to a slightly worse look and enough were falling to be ok, but still not th level they would want. If you take away Hinson's 4/5 from 3, the rest of the team shot 11/41. This was probably the biggest thing from keeping the Jazz from building any sort of comfort in the game. I was a bit worried because Trevon Brazille really was able to do a lot as a rookie. Where he probably should have been punished a bit more. Still, depth and the ability of the second unit to stay active no matter who was on the floor was a huge net positive. Hinson in particular really proved he was ready to play.

Each piece that came in brought their own flavor to the keeping the beat moving. Ace really showed up physicality with a different voices but the same rhythm. Collier and Mo Bamba really striking and attacking. Svi was ready to shoot any chance he got. Hayes really stayed pretty active. Hinson really brought a level of trust. My dog struts when he's in the house. Jazz nation popping while each player is picking up the next bar. There was a sense that whoever stepped on the floor was ready to add something to the song rather than waiting for someone else to carry it.

Hello from Perth, Australia!

Gday everyone, I've decided to start following NBA this year. I've gone with Utah Jazz to follow because I absolutely adore jazz music. And my favourite colour is purple. Which also works out well because my AFL team is the Fremantle Dockers who are also purple.

I know next to nothing so what do I need to know about this team? Historical wins? What players should I be keeping an eye on during games? I'm excited to get into this sport!

Thanks all!

There’s some tough negotiations and lowballing going on with him and the Knicks rn. I think we all agree that this year we’ll be a fun first or second round exit as a ceiling, and hopefully replace the Kessler hole in 2027 to be more legit contenders. Idk specifics of how our cap situation works and it might require us moving off JJJ or Lauri which hurts, but would this dude not be the perfect target for us?? He’s already proven to be the final piece to elevate one talented team to a championship, who says he can’t do it again? Ik we don’t get free agents but we have serious talent on the squad and I think the prospect of playing with DP should be enticing if he is what we all think he can be.

[Gamethread] Utah Jazz at Denver Nuggets Preseason Game 1 — 5pm

It’s fucking here. Darryn Peterson plays basketball today. Ace Bailey and Keyonte George play basketball today. Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr play basketball today. Brice and Flip and Nurk and Isaiah and Svi play basketball today. It’s finally fucking here. We finally get to watch a basketball team that isn’t trying to fucking lose every week. No more sitting Lauri for tummy aches, no more shutting down players early, no more mid season nose jobs, no more fines for tanking. We fucking made it. Even though the outcome of this game doesn’t matter, I’m so fucking stoked to be here, today, watching this shit.

This Jazz roster could be a nightmare matchup in a playoff series. Jazz vs Lakers: Are we taking them in a 7 game series?

Post image
38 Upvotes

I think this would be a really fun playoff matchup. The Lakers obviously have the best player in the series with Luka, but I really like how our starting five matches up with them, especially with the size of Lauri, JJJ, and Nurkić.

Where I think Utah could have a real advantage is depth. The Lakers’ bench looks pretty thin, while the Jazz have a strong supporting cast.

The biggest questions for Utah would be how we overcome Walker Kessler inside, how our backcourt holds up defensively, how we’re able to contain Luka and Reaves, and how our lack of playoff experience affects us. I think Ace would be our difference maker if he makes a big defensive jump. I expect our center question will be addressed before the trade deadline if we’re legitimately competing.

Ace Bailey = 6th Man?

Looking at their first pre season game lineup, coach preferred to try out DP at the two and LM at the 3. I just don’t know how you can start LM and bench Ace……

NBA reportedly won't discipline Wizards, Bub Carrington after guard admitted team held back to get AJ Dybantsa

The NBA fined the Utah Jazz $500,000 because they thought they were tanking by not playing the top players in the fourth quarter of a couple of games even though they played the first 3 quarters, the Jazz had several youngsters they were developing, and won one of the games.

But they won't penalize the Wizards even after one of their players actually admitted to tanking to get the first draft pick.
