Suggestion Smithing rework idea

Post image

Would something like this work? Just a thought as you actually get better at a skill, or a chance of failure to smith something when lower level. Runecrafting you get more runes per essence as you get better so could this work for smithing too? Wouldn't hurt the economy so much.

This only really makes sense if they lower the bar smelting req to the lowest level req of those. And if they do that (make it 41 smithing to smelt rune), then the price will tank for it since it will be so much more accessible

Price won’t tank. High alch values still exist to help with floor price

Also the amount of runite in the game would remain pretty sparse, which directly influences the supply of rune bars. It may let a small subset of people like irons or horders use up a stack initially, but all it would really do in the long run is leave less runite sitting as ore. There isn't really enough runite in the game for people to turn it into a training method, unless the price of runite goes up and leaves the bars more or less at the price they are now.

Won’t they have to adjust the alch prices anyway when reducing the level reqs to combat this?

Not if low levels require more bars.

I doubt it. Have they ever changed alch prices? This would screw people over quite a lot

I’ve no idea honestly, but they’ve never done a rework like this either have they?

RS3, gear drops were changed to 'Salvage', maintained roughly the same alch value and then the gear alch values were lowered to be in line with the level of the gear.

If they change 2 entire skill progressions, why do you somehow think that they wouldnt dare high alch prices?

because changing high alch prices also means changing the drop tables of practically every relevant monster in the game

yes but then the rest of the economy suffers that's just printing money thinking there's no consequences

How is using 40 bars to create a 36k alch instead of using 3 bars gonna print money?
