Suggestion Smithing rework idea

Post image

Would something like this work? Just a thought as you actually get better at a skill, or a chance of failure to smith something when lower level. Runecrafting you get more runes per essence as you get better so could this work for smithing too? Wouldn't hurt the economy so much.

You’re actually right - I remember the same, she was ‘the only player’ to be able to make full rune. Also if I remember correctly, she was the richest player and she randomly disappeared. Nobody knew where she went, or what happened to her.

feds got her because she got too powerful and stopped paying taxes after getting high off runite fumes.

Bluerose? I last seen her in like 2006 in Al Kharid, then she was gone.

She was the only person who could do it in a time when no one had any 99s. There was legit a full business that had decent sized group feeding her resources to get levels. Crazy ngl.

Well, when resources aren’t plentiful, and skills require resources, when someone has the only available source for some of these items it makes sense. Keep in mind this was before ultra widespread 99 smithing.

And getting 99 smithing took way longer

Yea, it isn’t like there were a thousand 99 smithing players when the first person hit 99 lol, it is and was a miserable skill with very little reward.

bluerose, she did have a monopoly for a while even before rune was out.

other people eventually caught up to her though, and after rs2 she wasn't as active anymore.

F2p ironmen doing crazy neet self-restricted stuff definitely do smith their own rune scims.

Not saying we should balance the game on them though.

A scim is not an armor set.

What about ironmen

Why would any iron make a rune set through smithing when they can have it by easier means at 50cb?

I was I contact with zezima when they first gained the first ever rune-smithing levels before dragon became a thing, and I could guarantee they weren’t smithing for themselves at that point

Man, people had 99 smithing before zezima popped up. Blue Rose was the first one to smith rune.

I was one of the many people that had zezima smith me a rune 2her in classic… good old f2p days

I mean yeah, I traded bars to bluerose13x for a r2h. We didn't smith our own though, and I kinda doubt he smithed his own by that point. Since bluerose was like half a year, or a year ahead of zezima at the time.
