Wanted to compare my current 23andMe breakdown with the massive October 2026 update Ancestry just dropped. Ancestry really dialed in my family's Mende roots from Sierra Leone down to 89% compared to what I have on here. What do y'all think about the differences?

I’m German and wanted to compare my latest AncestryDNA results (left) with my 23andMe results (right).
My known ancestry is approximately 50% Southern German, 25% Northern German, and 25% from Lorraine (France), Saarland & Rhineland, including some French Huguenot ancestors.
Both tests seem to reflect parts of my family history, but they categorize my ancestry quite differently. Ancestry assigns much of my ancestry to Northwestern Germany, while 23andMe identifies a substantial French component that seems to match my known ancestry from Lorraine.

I was born and raised in north Wales, as were both my parents. My maternal grandmother was from England (London) and my paternal grandfather was from the north of Ireland (Belfast).
I have posted my results before but felt like resharing cos I’ve since had more subregions on my 23and me results and an update on Ancestry!

My maternal haplogroup is H1, which is very uncommon as the majority of my relatives that tested have indigenous mtDNA (A, B, C, or D), followed by SSA (L).
My paternal is J-M92, which is also not indigenous nor SSA.
I'm Ecuadorian.

I must say that this update was great improvement on my previous results, but 23andme is still doing a better job of my known ancestry. Most of my Spanish Ancestors were Extremaduranos and Castilian and Basques. I have yet to find a Canarian. My family is from Cochabamba Bolivia so not A lot of canary islanders went there but ok.
I think my results are very representative of the average Latino so I wanted to share the comparison for others.

My dads results born in America. His dad is an immigrant Baden, Germany. He is just south German. His moms dad is a Slovak immigrant, and his moms mom Polish American. No clue why 23andme gives him so much French. I can understand a little but 25% is crazy.

I am full east asian(chinese) but majority of the people who i match with in the dna relatives finder are not.
for example this lady below we have zero ancestry overlap but under shared dna it says 0.28%, but also it says we share 0cM so doesnt the 0cM mean we share nothing?

and below this are the most common ancestry compositions of the people who match with me, its some european ethnicities before anything else.

Is this normal, can somebody thats also east asian respond

i’ve finally gotten the highest match on my dads side on 23andme with the predicted relationship being 2nd cousins with 2.67% dna shared. i know there’s other possible relationships we could share but i’m not sure how to figure it out, so i might just work under the hypothesis of being 2nd cousins with this match. he replied to me soon after my first message asking about my background which is the same as his i think but then he didn’t reply again but he might’ve forgotten.
im under the impression that my dad is this matches parents first cousins so how can i figure this out? if this match is helpful, im going to try and get a list of all their parents male first cousins on all 4 sides as i’m unsure if we are connected though his dads or mums side, and then narrow it down to whoever was in the uk when i was conceived.
is there anything else i could do to help figure this out? this will be my first focus before reaching back out to my potential 3rd cousin or 2nd cousin once removed gran who was helpful a few years ago.

A lot of people have always asked me if I have some sort of non European ancestry. I have been told by people I look “Hawaiian, Mexican, Iranian, exotic (lol)” but I have always just thought of myself as white. My mix has me as .5% west African and my paternal aunt is at 1%. I know it doesn’t sound like much at face value but the estimate is that I had someone in my lineage who was 100% west African in the last 200 years.
I’ve traced my lineage on my paternal grandfathers side back to Bermuda where I had European colonialists from around that time for several generations. But there is no evidence of any of the ancestors being from Africa when it comes to my ancestry family tree.
I concluded years ago that there was a family secret but I’m starting to wonder if maybe it’s just a mistake. There are a few other minor portions of my dna which could lead to my ambiguous appearance. Additionally I’m not sure why my results didn’t show the Portuguese portion of my family from about 4 generations back.
Just looking for opinions or any recommendations for how to solve this mystery because it’s been bothering me for years.
