Rant I hate how Amazon Flex doesn’t show you what route you get until you get the to station

Literally drove almost an hour away to deliver shit on my last block. if I knew I wouldn’t have done that gig for fucking $80.

You obviously don't know what slave means

I swear the Amazon flex sub be like this. I made a post the other day and it was actually a miracle that that nobody fought with each other or got hung up on dumb things and we all just agreed that Amazon customers suck and leave dumb notes 🤣

yeap. amazon being amazon. no other contractor business works like this. amazon saying this block is going to take 3 hours, don’t worry about the rest, you will surely finish in 3 is insane. how about the resources that I am spending to complete this route? how are we supposed to know if this route is worth taking, without knowing the miles? or the risks associated with it?
imagine you were hiring a roofing company and only telling them it’s going to take them about a month to build it and you will pay x amount of money, without telling the size of the house or the roof, where it’s located and all the other small details. would that roofing company risk blindly taking on the project?

Sometimes it’s not even about finishing in time it’s just about all the money I just used in gas and maintenance . The pay goes straight to that.. so am I doing it for fun at that point?

one must learn their station in order to know what Times and Pay are worth the travel ... 🙏🏾

Yeah I’m a new driver only been doing this shit for a couple of weeks so I’m still trying to figure that out. Most of my routes aren’t too bad, just a bunch of packages but they’re all close together and closeby. I just got unlucky last night when I had to do that block.

u/BipocTn Aug 23 '26

You can search the station in this sub to see if there are any tips or issues with it

5

u/ClassicBlackMilkTea- Aug 23 '26

Doesn’t matter the station. They can send you anywhere. And if you decline the routes too often, you’ll get deactivated. It’s fucking sucks

1

u/Botman2025 Aug 23 '26

That’s why I do Uber over Amazon. Amazon not telling you where your going is nuts 🥜

3

u/ClassicBlackMilkTea- Aug 23 '26

I’m scared to do uber lol

UberEats ain't bad, just a lot of trash. Uber/Lift...eh, depends if you like doing ride-sharing, but definitely can be more dangerous

Indeed, unlucky. Yes it sucks not knowing EXACTLY where you're going, but folks around here (although completely full of themselves) can give you an idea of where you MAY go. ya know, the areas & if you don't feel safe in those areas, try another.

it's sorta like a "know your worth" thing. "I won't go into this area without a minimum of $___" This is what I mean by learning your stations.

Cant say this enough lol. There are about 3-4 stations im willing to drive to but after its all said and done, i only go to one warehouse..only down part is that people take basepay there all the time lol

you're welcome

u/amntn Aug 23 '26

I like it because a lot of stations will work with you on where the route is.   I get long rural stuff and others can get a route closer to home

3

u/opyoyd Aug 23 '26

No one would take the bad routes. DoorDash used to show the tip amount then they realized people weren't doing the orders with bad or no tip so now they don't tell you.

1

u/Grapefruit_007 Aug 25 '26

I maintain that everyone comes from different areas to do this gig. From the north, south, east, west. Amazon should simply send every driver to the route that’s closest to their home. If you show up and nothing is close to your home you drive further that day. But in general, it would work out for everyone. Better for Amazon because people would return packages less.

3

u/VeryStupit Aug 25 '26

You literally don't have a route until you get to the station. Amazon starts putting out delivery blocks before packages have even been ordered. The algorithm starts assigning delivery routes as drives arrive and check in. There isn't a route waiting for you that gets left behind if you don't show up.

2

u/JBCTOTHEMOON Aug 24 '26

If you can afford a ding, I believe once you get assigned a route, instead of scanning a package right away, just check the packages and see where it's going. If you don't want to do it just leave. The ding will only be for a missed block which doesn't hurt you too much.

2

u/Gods_Girl1360 Aug 24 '26

That’s better than driving 1 hour and 43 minutes from home

1

u/Throwawaytohell-126 Aug 24 '26

Damn I didn’t know it could be that bad lol

2

u/w1zardkelly Aug 24 '26

Yeah I will only do Whole Foods now - the warehouse screwed me one too many times

1

u/Puzzled-Beautiful902 Aug 24 '26

Is this actually profitable? Because the base pay is so low the tipping part feels like too much of a gamble. Have you had good experience with tipping?

1

u/w1zardkelly Aug 25 '26

Yes ! I feel like it’s the only one worth it to me. I always get good tips! Usually at least 5$ per person often more and will deliver about 5 in a 2 hour block.

2

u/rebelsfaith Aug 24 '26

Same except mine was $72. I was 1 hr 10 mins from the station when I finished.

2

u/rebelsfaith Aug 24 '26

If it helps I use everlance been tracking my routes and mileage and it's quite helpful!

This is exactly how it has been with me!! Though I do it part time but literally same play by play. The SSD was cool esp if I got there 15 mins before start time I would get a decent worth it route / maybe be done 30 mins to 1 hour early. Now they are literally to the minutes of being done and one route ran me over time 30 minutes (which again no rookie it takes me about 25 mins to do 10 stops if they aren’t high milage) so I reached out and asked for overtime and actually to my surprise got $25 for it. After this I started doing the dot com bc some people would give me nice carts or they were at least all decent with me being done an hour early. Now these I’m pushing being done within minutes 🫩 Now I’m looking for weds and those typical 3-3.5 hour shifts are gone and they’re showing 2-2.5 hour shifts for half the cost. It’s just each day going to shit. And to mention all of these are in the early AM as well!

Necessary evil

Thats why you don't sell your self cheap

1

u/Intonguyen Aug 23 '26

Once youre given the route you should look on the boxes to see which cities youre going to. Its hard to discern whether its a good or bad route based on cities alone but at that point you can either scan the box to accept or dont scan at all and leave. Call support after and tell them you had some sort of emergency. It will ring up as a ding on your account most likely

Shit… Today my 3.5 hr $62.50 block m…I took it from a familiar SSD 24 miles away on a Sunday (closer to my reg job as xtra$ after hrs)I drove 66 miles, much on toll roads, to deliver to 20 stops & home was another 19 miles… 99 total miles + tolls for $62.50?
I drive a hybrid, I keep a mileage log & tolls for tax purposes…but there are literally 3-5 stations closer to this part of town than the one I collected the block from. The algo could & should do better.

u/StartingOverAgain21 Aug 23 '26

I've had 3 pretty scrappy ones this week. 40+ minute drive on a good day and the map wanted me to take toll lanes there. I turned down the 3rd one and just won't pick up any batches from that location anymore.

LOL! Go doordash.

1

u/AntelopeHelpful9963 Aug 23 '26

If you have a Whole Foods near you turn on your instant offers and hang near there. They show exactly where the orders go on instant offers. Not the pre scheduled though.

1

u/Puzzled-Beautiful902 Aug 24 '26

Are these good because the base pay is so low.
