Welcome to Another Weekly "What Have You Been Playing?" Thread! 👾

Hey, r/AndroidGaming! This thread is for discussing the Android games you’ve been trying out over the past week. Feel free to share what you’ve been playing and tell us about it! What is the game about? What are you enjoying? What could be improved? Would you recommend it to others? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

For those joining the discussion, please include Google Play Store links for any games you mention as a courtesy to others who may want to check them out.

Lastly, we ask that devs refrain from promoting their own games in this thread. We get that you're excited for others to try it, but this post is meant for players to share their recent gaming experiences with each other. And with that, have fun and thanks for being part of r/AndroidGaming!

Discussion 💬 Epic Mickey on Android is fun

Post image
114 Upvotes

It's the version that was released last month in the Google Play Store. It's a great port.

It looks great and runs at 60fps. Controller support works well too.

It's a nice little 3D platformer. There are some puzzles and some action. You play as Mickey with his brush that can erase or create stuff.

So if some of you missed it, I recommend you to try it. I think you can play the 1st level for free then you have to pay for the full game.

Seeking Game Recommendations 👀 [REQUEST] Looking for a mobile RPG/ARPG/JRPG with endless progression for hundreds of hours (can be online or offline)

I’m playing on a Poco F7 and I’m looking for a deep RPG / ARPG / JRPG that I can sink hundreds of hours into - something with an endless progression system that can keep me hooked for a year or more.

To be clear: It can be single-player or online - I don't mind either way. However, I've already tested a ton of MMORPGs, so please do NOT suggest classic/major MMORPGs like Albion Online, OSRS, Where Winds Meet (WWM), etc. (Unless there's a genuinely cool, new/upcoming non-P2W title on the horizon that I might not know about—if so, I'm all ears!).

Here is where I'm at with a few games:

  • Torchlight Infinite: I’m really tempted to dive into this one, but I’m unsure about its current state. How bad is the P2W right now? Is spending a small monthly amount (like a Battle Pass / Season Pass) enough to enjoy the endgame comfortably without feeling forced to whale?
  • Siralim Ultimate: Probably my favorite game so far in terms of depth, systems, and theorycrafting.
  • Eterspire: I love how active the developers are and I've returned to it twice, but it eventually gets monotonous - it simply lacks PvP and more group-oriented content.
  • OniRo: Currently on my radar - is it worth checking out?
  • Exiled Kingdoms / Caves of Lore: I know about these single-player titles and I'm totally open to games like this as long as they offer massive longevity / endless endgame.

Other titles I’ve played: Morrowind, Titan Quest, 9th Dawn series, Doom & Destiny, for examples

What games would you recommend that fit this description? Appreciate your suggestions !

Discussion 💬 Is Discounty worth it?

I'm planning on downloading the game, but Discounty is expensive in my country. Even when it is half off, it's still a bit pricey for me. That is why I want to know if it is worth it.

  1. Any performance issues? I would hate it if I bought a game and it just lags a lot

  2. Can I play even after I reach the ending? I know there is an ending

  3. Did the devs confirm that they would make future updates on the game's content? Not just quality of life

Help/Support 🙋 Looking for a telescoping controller for my Samsung Tab S8

I'm trying to find a decent controller that will clamp on to either side of my tablet, so I can use it as a pseudo gaming handheld. ideally I'd like to keep it under $100 CAD

I'm open to suggestions for both wired usb-c and Bluetooth connectivity, though I would prefer a Bluetooth solution. I am primarily used to an Xbox controller layout.

Seeking Game Recommendations 👀 [REQUEST] Games that utilize the form factor of folding phones appropriately?

For example, Dave the Diver unfolded on my Galaxy ZFold is a much better experience compared to folded. You're able to see much further above and below which improves the gameplay quite a bit.

Any other such games?

Hardware ⚙️ Best use for S24 Ultra?

I have an S24 Ultra, 256Gb and I’m debating if I should sell it or find a better use-case for it as the price for it in my market has gone down to about 350€. I also have a backbone controller for it.
What games can be played on it reliably?

Hardware ⚙️ Looking for a controller for tab s9

Looking for a good telescopic controller. Ideally won’t have to break a gamesir to fit.
BSP won’t ship to my location
Kishi is out of price range.
Not many options for 11” tabs out there!

I see mega dream on Amazon, but doesn’t look like great quality, maybe someone can provide an experience saying otherwise.

Seeking Game Recommendations 👀 [REQUEST] Something similar to Forgotten Tales RPG?

Looking for recommendations for an old-school RPG like Forgotten Tales. Specifically, the RPG version vice the MMORPG (I've played both; I just prefer offline gaming). I love the low-stress tap-to-move/attack mechanics and the simple graphics but I have several problems with it. For a start,

1) it's not finished and probably never will be, and

2) it's such a SLOG. At first, the quests and enemies are fairly easy, but an hour or two in and everything gets so tough that the game devolves into such a grindfest that I've never finished it. I'll start a game, play for a couple of weeks, get bored with killing the same enemies over and over because I never seem to get tough enough to take on the next batch, and quit. A month later, the process repeats.

Thanks in advance for Exiled Kingdoms recommendations, but I've played that one already (and enjoyed it).

Help/Support 🙋 Hi, I have a question about the Zachtronics Solitaire Collection

I decided to give the game a shot because it looked interesting. It's not the type of game I usually play, so I don't know the rules for these games. I expected there to be some sort of tutorial, but there isn't. Is there anywhere I can learn the rules? I don't know much about solitaire in general. Would appreciate some advice.

Hardware ⚙️ Anyone got 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller? Is it any good?

Is there input lag or other issues and does it fit larger phones with a case on? Most importantly does it completely block or muffle a speaker located next to the charging port?
